We partially chose this site because of previous reviews which we found to be fairly accurate. The site was clean and welcoming,it was easy to find our pitch as owners put a list of names and pitch numbers at the entrance. Shower blocks and kitchen area were clean with ample hot water and free use of fridge and freezer.
The views from our pitch were great but noise from road in the distance and occasional low flying helicopters (RAF Brize Norton is 5 miles away)took a little getting used to.
The village of Bourton on the Water is a perfect picture postcard and an easy walk to( either by road or by footpaths). The site is an excellent base for exploring the area: Stratford/Avon is 30 mins away, Cheltenham 20 mins as well as all the other Cotswold villages.
We would certainly come back.

This is such a peaceful and tranquil site. The pitches are large, and spread around the edges of the field, with open areas in front so you do not feel over looked and crowded. There are newly planted trees and shrubs between the pitches, which in time will give shade and privacy. There are mown paths through the field to get to the toilet block.
There are 3 showers, 2 wash basins and 2 toilets for the ladies, the same for the men. These are incredibly clean, so is the indoor washing up room. There you will find a fridge and freezer to use.
When we went the site was not busy, perhaps if it was full you would have to time your trip to the showers carefully, so you did not have to wait. The shower cubicles do get a bit flooded under foot, so its best to wear shorts or cropped trousers, long trousers would dangle in the water and get really wet.
There is a lovely walk to Bourton on the Water, about 30 mins across the fields.
At night we star gazed, and watched the meteor shower. This is a site for relaxation and unwinding from everyday stressful life. Its not for groups (you can't pitch in a group) and please don't go if you want to sit up until the early hours socialising with friends. But if you want peace, quiet, stillness and seclusion I could recommend it.

A well run site with a good system for late arrivals. We arrived at 8pm and had no problem finding our pitch. The pitch was level and there was plenty of room. Very peaceful site with good views. Toilet/shower block was very clean and we never had to queue. Walk into Bourton-on-the-water takes about 20-25mins on a fairly quiet country lane. We would definitely like to return soon.

We spent 3 nights at this excellent campsite. The pitches are huge, the toilet and shower block is lovely and new and the owners are very kind and friendly. The fridge and freezer are well stocked with locally made BBQ steaks and sausages and the ice cream was worth the trip to Gloucestershire alone! There is a lovely walk through the fields into Bourton (30 minutes) and you can easily visit the Slaughters on foot as well. Overall an excellent base for enjoying the delights of the Cotswolds.

Martin and Henrrieta the owners are very friendly and welcomed us when on the morning of our first day when they came to collect the pitch fee. The pitches are very large and clearly numbered albeit some are a little stony so bring some strong pegs. All of the pitches offer an electric hook-up (10 amps) and mains tap water. Washroom facilities are very clean and well kept at all times, the shower water was hot.
Fresh eggs are available from the heated utility room along with various other foods products such as sausages and pork pies. All are paid for on a trust basis and you simply put your money in a tin. There is a fridge and freezer for public use and also a washing machine if required. This is an adults only site with no children allowed and is very peaceful.
The site owners have planted over 400 trees and shrubs which when fully grown will improve the site without doubt.
If you want peace and quiet then this is the site for you. We have been twice now and will return again without doubt.

Brilliant site. Just what we were after. The entire site was peaceful and undisturbed, surrounded by countryside (although one day we did get woken from an afternoon doze by a hot air balloon!)
Once you find the campsite (it's not obviously signed, but I think that could be deliberate) you discover pitches that are far apart, not overlooked and divided by an interesting mix of young grasses, will be interesting to see how the site looks once these have matured.
Facilities were more than adequate: the site was not busy when we visited so we had no wait for the hot showers. Fridges and freezers are available for anyone to use. We got over-excited by the farm-produced sausages we discovered on the first day, left for campers via an honesty system in the kitchen, but were a little disappointed that these were not replenished over the course of the week, so we missed out on the steaks and fresh-laid eggs we were expecting. It's worth noting that no children are allowed on this site. Phew!
It's well worth visiting Bourton-on-the-Water on foot, only a mile or so down the hill (seems further coming back!) for a great array of pubs, restaurants and shops. We particularly enjoyed the Duke of Wellington although I don't think you could have a bad time at any of the riverside pubs there.
All in all, being right in the centre of the Cotswolds this is the perfect place to get away from city life, and we will certainly be returning as soon as possible.

Nice site but taking a shower in the womens means you stand in a large puddle of water after you have finished. The floor looks like it should have tiles but doesn't. It wouldn't be so bad standing in cement if it was dry cement. Basically how hard is it to slope it away so the water goes down the drain rather than sitting in the shower cubicle.
Other than that and the entrance i.e. Narrow dirt track with hardly any passing places and a blind bend at the end, the site itself is very nice and we had a lovely time there.

As newbie campers this was our first campsite, and what an excellent choice it was, the site is reasonably new with facilities to match, at the time of our visit it was very quiet with only one other tent on site, but glorious weather for the time of year.
The site is reasonably flat gently sloping up around the edges, all pitches have hook up and shared tap and are very large with grass and tree borders between each, the site is reasonably quiet & with no children, is a peaceful haven.
The owners are friendly without being intrusive, and knowledgeable of the surrounding area, the fees are reasonable and there is an honesty box in the kitchen for you to buy the delicious locally sourced ice cream and beef products from the freezer.
It is a good walk into Bourton but pleasant on a nice day with much to do in the village itself, a short drive away there are many more picturesque villages to explore.
All in all it is a super site with plenty of space coupled with peace, quiet, and spotless amenities I can definitely recommend a visit.

This was my first time camping since childhood (when I hated it) and was a bit nervous about what the experience would be like. But I need not have worried. The campsite was just lovely! It's not perfect - previous reviews have mentioned the shower problem, with water pooling on the floor - but any negatives are greatly outweighed by the positives.
The pitches are huge and the layout of the site gives you an even greater sense of space. It's a very peaceful site (you hear the occasional hum of a car going by in the distance, but it's nothing to worry about - and this is from a person who gets easily irritated by noise!). And because it's an adults only site, there are no children to wake you in morning - just beautiful birdsong.
I don't have any other adult camping experiences to compare this with, but there seemed an awful lot of respect for other people on this site, whether it was people leaving toilets are they'd want to find them themselves (ie clean!) or keeping noise to a minimum.
The owners, who we saw a couple of times during our 24 hours there, were very friendly and welcoming. And they clearly take pride in their site.
There is a washing machine on site (£1 per wash) and free use of a fridge and freezer. There is also a fridge/freezer stocking bacon, sausages, free range eggs, locally made ice cream etc, with an honesty box for people to pay. Showers are free, although there are only three in the ladies and there was a small queue for when I went for my shower in the morning (had to wait about five mins). The shower and toilet block is basic but clean. And there is a washing up room (free to use) with two sinks.
There are recycling bins for glass, plastic etc, plus a bin for BBQs and another for food waste. But there didn't seem to be a general waste bin. That was no problem because we just stayed one night and took our rubbish home, but it could be inconvenient for those staying longer - I'm a keen recycler but it's not possible to recycle everything!
To sum up, this is a perfect site for anyone looking to get away from it all and have a quiet and relaxing time. If you want a site with a shop, cafe, bar and on-site activities, look elsewhere.

This is a fantastic site.
The layout has been very carefully thought out so that you have plenty of room (very big pitches), are not too close to your neighbours and are not overlooked. There is one water pipe between every two pitches so you never have to trail far.
The toilet/shower facilities are always clean and whilst we were there they were never overcrowded. The showers are a bit disappointing as the pressure is not very good and the water does not drain well, however, there is a free hairdryer - always a bonus.
The washing up room was again always clean and has a fridge and a freezer for you to use and, very helpfully, spare cloths and washing up liquid.
The atmosphere on the site is very relaxed - probably because there are no children taking over but also because of the relaxed attitude of the owners. They ensure they welcome you at some point during your first day but they are not constantly watching over you and patroling like on some other sites.
Bourton on the Water is about a 20 - 30 mins walk and is a lovely picturesque place. It does get very busy on a weekend, however. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. Bourton is also really well located for visiting many other places in the Cotswolds.
Overall, this site was perfect for us and is worth considering if you are visiting that part of the Cotswolds.
