Second time back and nothing has changed! The best site we have stayed at. Huge pitches, superb facilities, incredibly helpful staff and to top it all fires are allowed! We were so impressed that we recommended this site to other friends, all who visited and completely agree. There is a fantastic atmosphere with really happy campers and this is one we will return to again and again.

I recently come back from this site and I can honestly say it was the first site my daughter cried at because she didn't want to leave. (Shes 10).
I can agree with reviews made before, both good and bad. The site does have a big slope to the playground side although to be fair, the majority of the pitches are flat.
Some are far away from the toilet block although again I have stayed on some that are further away although not many. We booked our pitch for the May bank holiday last November and spoke to the owner asking for a close to the play park pitch, in view of having children. He was very accomodating and gave us full information on the pitch directing us to the map on their own website.
If you love dogs, then this is the site for you. Ours went everywhere with us, even to the toilet (hooks for leads provided outside) and on one occasion into the games room. The woods surrounding are fantastic although as pointed out a little overgrown but for us and the kids this was just part of their fun. They were so much better than just having an excercise field. The day kennels whilst not amazing, were clean and large and made of concrete. My husband wasn't keen on where they were, at the back of the tractor shed, but I preffered it as at least I knew she wouldn't be annoyed by other campers.
The grove behind the toilet block was great for the kids to explore on their own and you genuinly felt safe to let them go off on their own on this site. We say many bow and arrows made from the poor trees and kids happily chasing each other for the kill!
The play park kept my kids amused for hours and on our last day I think I only saw them for food.
The only time the site was let down was when it rained. The roads on the site are made of a type of red gravel and dirt. When it rained this got very muddy and dirty and the high traffic in the toilet ment that the floors became a disgusting mud carpet. At times like this they could probably do with cleaning twice a day rather than the once that they are.
If you are lucky enough to go when the swallows are nesting then you must watch them on the cctv in the laundry room. We left just as they were nest making and the close up images had more than just ourselves fascinated.
Overall it is a busy site but it doesn't feel overcrowded and its one we probably would go back to so long as we could book in advance and get the right pitch.

Have just come back from this site and stayed for 2 nights Friday to Sunday I have to say that the weekend was one of the most relaxing I have had in a long time. We were pitched next to the children's playground which meant that we could watch our kids playing whilst relaxing in front of the tent. The weather was great and it was one of those weekends where we didn't feel the need to leave the campsite and just had a thoroughly chilled time of it. The plus points of this campsite are as follows: - lovely country setting with many trees adding to the rural feel of the place (as well as strategic shade from the sun) - very generous pitch sizes meaning that even though the park was busy it did not feel crowded at all - fantastic children's play area with enough variety of rides and activities to keep all the kids I could see amused from sun up to sun down (our kids played every scrap of every day in there) - forest walks to stretch your legs - a small but very well provisioned shop - good value for money - NO clubhouse or tacky entertainments - good washing facilities for dishes clothes and people alike! - promotion of recycling of segregated rubbish The downside?. - the washing facilities exist only in one building at the reception area (this wasn't a problem for us but I can see why some people might not like it that way) - IF you are pitched next to the children's play area it is noisy (but if you have kids it's noisy anyway and it didn't bother us in the slightest and we prefered to be close to watch our kids anyway) - yes there are some sloping pitches on the site which isn't ideal but with intelligent siting of your tent it shouldn't be a problem In summary, a well run family touring site that provided excellent value for money and a truly relaxing family break. Will we be back? You can count on it!

Have just returned from 5 nights here and was a bit disappointed with the site after reading other reviews. It was a freezing cold first night and put our small fan heater on, then when all electric went off, we checked with others on our side of field and found it was the 2nd time it had gone off along the whole side, the owner came round about an hour later and told everyone they could not have heaters on as the electricity supply could not cope with them. The owner did not actually seem very friendly whenever we saw him. A lot of people were using bikes to get to the toilet block as only one lot of toilets which were quite a trek for the majority of campers. I don't think it says anywhere but the site has got quite a steep slope, don't know how people managed. If you go on the woodland walk, even with the map it was very difficult to find your way round as it was very unkempt, and our husbands had taken their mountain bikes but found the deep ruts made by a vehicle made it very difficult to do. The area itself is very good, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to go back to this site.

A really lovely site - we could just repeat the same things other reviewers have written! But it's probably more helpful if we write something different. This site is nearly perfect for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint a bit - you can buy groceries on the site, drink beer from the Badger brewery two miles up the road, and take fantastic walks from the camp site. Blandford has real butchers & greengrocers selling lots of local produce too. As this area is on the corner of about three OS maps, the tourist info centre in Blandford sells 'bespoke' 1:25,000 maps centred on the town. A bit more expensive but they open up enough walking routes to keep you busy for a fortnight! We particularly enjoyed our walk to Milton Abbas - it took a couple of hours to get there with the reward of lunch in the pub - just taken over by local people who are committed to using as much fresh local produce as possible. Milton Abbas also boasts a lovely tea shop that does delicious afternoon teas with cakes made on the premises and a surprisingly modest bill at the end (but it will be closing at the end of the summer so be quick!) There's also a lovely walk from the camp site to the pub in the next village - The Crown in Winterborne Stickland - which has a beer garden. Don't miss the brewery tour in Blandford too! And the camp site? As I've said - lovely. Sadly, one night we were kept awake until 2am by a very rowdy bunch playing drinking games and music. The owner intervened twice but once he'd left, they carried on again. However, he dealt with it swiftly the next morning by insisting that they all left within half an hour and peace was restored. Regulars on the site said that type of behaviour/group was very unusual here and the way the owner dealt with them was reassuring. From a personal perspective, our only grouch was that, as the site has lots of secluded corners, it is impossible for the owners to 100% enforce the 'dogs on leads rule' and we were pestered a bit by other people's dogs. Admittedly they were mostly good natured and probably just curious dogs but still a pain. If you are dogless - this can be overcome by asking to be sited in the dog free zone. And finally - don't miss the fish & chip van visit! Some of the best we've eaten in a long time and cooked to order so wonderfully hot & fresh!

After hearing what a lovely site this was from a fellow camper we have just come back from a 4 day stay and were not disappointed. very clean and friendly. The only downside is that there is only one toilet/shower block which for some was quite a trek, but these were kept clean and tidy by staff and campers alike (showers were great). This site is very picturesque and staff friendly and helpful. Will be visiting this site again and would recomend.

We stayed at this fantastic campsite twice during the summer of 2006, first during the children's May half term holiday and then in July during term time. The site is full of happy children during the holidays and far more sedate during term time. On both occasions we were impressed by the relaxed, friendly reception that we received from the owners. The pitches are very generous and not bordered by fussy hedges so you can angle your tent according to which beautiful view you might want to see in the morning. The park itself is set in a shallow valley filled with plenty of majestic trees and well tended soft grass. The loos and showers are kept very clean and there is always hot water even when it is busy. The site has lots of wooden picnic tables that campers can move wherever they like. One of the best aspects of the site was the large children's play area which keeps children of all ages happy for hours. The play area can be seen from many of the pitches which allows parents to keep an eye on their children from the comfort of their deckchair. There are also some lovely hideaway pitches amongst the woods which offer more seclusion and peace. There is a supermarket a mile away in Blandford Forum but basics can be bought in the campshop. Overall, a feeling of peace and calm in a beautiful environment with friendly and efficient owners. Book early to avoid disapointment!

Found this site because I wanted somewhere near to Monkey World that had good reviews. This site sounded too good to be true but it lived up to every good word. When we arrived and booked in the owner hopped on his bike and we followed him to our pitch. Having been on sites that have been a free for all where pitching is concerned this was great. We were sited within about 20 metres of the excellent children's adventure playground which, as we have four children, was excellent - we hardly saw them when we were on the site!
The showers and toilets were immaculate and this was helped by the request that each person mop the shower after use with the mop provided. There were plenty of sinks for pot washing and they always had hot water, they were also undercover which is obviously a bonus in bad weather! The staff who work on the site were never anything but friendly and efficient.
This site was a great base for days out and Monkey World (a must if you are in this area) and Stonehenge are both within less than an hours drive. The only negative thing I could say (and it seems petty when everything else is so good) is that our pitch was on a bit of a slope which made cooking etc a bit of a nightmare. We travelled from the North so it was a long drive for us but I would highly recommend this site and wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in the area.

We stayed at this site for a week, wished we could have stayed for longer! This is a lovely, beautiful, peaceful site. Pitches are large, lots of space for the children to run about. Our children aged 7 and 2, loved the park and the forest walks. This is a brilliant base to explore Dorset from. Staff are friendly. This is one of the best parks that we have been to, we did not want to leave, can't wait to visit this site again!

Just returned from a two week stay at inside park and were sad to leave - this site is by far the best we have ever stayed on, the pitch sizes are very generous, we have a huge tent but still had loads of space, enough for the car, bikes, trailer, site picnic table and kids to play. This site is very peaceful and relaxing, surrounded by woodland and farmland it has lovely walks and cycle routes, it feels very remote yet you are only a few minutes drive from blandford town which has all the facilities you might need. The facilities at the park are well attended and clean, we found them to be more than adequate even for the busy holiday period, the site shop is very well stocked, they even stock camping equipment in case you find you have left behind a sleeping bag or the airbed pump etc! There is a fantastic play area for the kids plus a large area in the middle of the park has been left for ball games. Some pitches are a bit on the slopey side and some are more secluded away from the play area, which can be a little noisy at times so if you have a specific request you should speak with the owners when booking. We decided on this site after reading the reviews which has to be said are mostly positive, we can thoroughly recommend the inside park and would say that you would have to be very very picky to find any fault with this one. Have decided to go back again next summer - can't wait!.
