This seems to be that rare thing, a campsite set up as much as a 'labour of love' as a money-making enterprise. For instance, there are no static 'mobile homes' which so many campsites actively promote; also 12 showers for 120 pitches is a better ratio than we often find. It reminded us a bit of the Frech Chateaux chain - true there's no resuarant or pool, but the atmosphere's similar.

We chose it to be close to the North Dorset Trackway, a 17 mile railway converted for traffic-free walking and cycling through some lovely countryside. In fact there's a fairly level way to it from the site along quiet farm roads, though there's a few hundred metres link between the N and S sections of the Trailway that needs cycling along pavements next to busy roads.

As others have said, the site's perfect for primary-aged children, with lots of space to play and explore in an enclosed safe environment. Most people were in caravans or tents. Motorhomes are accepted, but we didn't see and hard standing, and there's no vertical drop for grey water.

We spent a very enjoyable Easter weekend here. The site itself is in a basin and so most of the pitches are sloping. It is well away from any roads and surrounded by woodland.

The faculties are kept very clean with plenty of toilets and showers and constant hot water. There are lots of washing up sinks, 3 washing machines and dryers and an ironing point.

For the children the play park is very well stocked (particularly for older children) and there is also a games room. The roads are gravel so not suitable for scooters but fine for bikes.

There are lots of on site walks for which a map is handed out on arrival so the dogs really enjoyed it as well (they can go off lead in the woods).

Full marks from us and we will definitely be going back.

The Inside Park is a gem in Dorset. Lovely park, pretty open in places, and some trees scattered around. One tree is the most amazing we have ever seen!

Pitches are fairly spacious, although electric hookup only serves one side of the main park near the play area (check when you book!). The play area itself is fantastic and a real selling point to those with children as the kids love running free. Accompanying the play park are two football goals, and plenty of green open space to throw a frisbee. At the back of the site is a wood that is open to walk in and play hide and seek! The wardens were very good at shutting the park at 9pm, although they were not so good at controlling the noise from campers after 11pm which seemed to be excessive from some units.

Facilities are pretty good too. Shop is small, but has the essentials and some toys for the kids as well as the usual confectionery. Site wardens are friendly and approachable and willing to help. Showers and washrooms were all clean and never a queue to use.

The site is actually a good half mile from the main road, so you suffer very little road noise. The other brilliant idea is that dogs have to stay one side of the park furthest away from the play area - very sensible and a great idea. It means that those with dogs are not around the play area. I have to say that the noise from dogs on site was frequent and some dog owners could not care less about the noise.

Some of the things we thought could be improved:

* Only one chemical waste point that we saw near the main entrance.

* Tougher stance on noisy campers after 11pm and noisy dog owners.

* Playroom near reception is poor - just a large open room with 3 pool tables (never in use so something obviously wrong, table tennis and a table football game not working. ) Such a great space and to me a wasted opportunity, surely could be a wonderful room for older kids - some arcade games, pinball tables, grab a teddy machine or something?

Overall, a fab little place, and one we look forward to returning to.

My wife and I have just spent 5 days on this gem of a campsite. The pitches are well spaced so that you don't feel crowded, the toilets and showers were always kept spotlessly clean, there is also a laundry room and a section for doing you dishes etc.

A nice play area for kids and plenty of walks for your dog. The site is within half an hours drive to Poole and only 26 miles from Weymouth, there is a local Tesco Extra within 2 miles, although there is a well stocked site shop if needed.

We found the site well looked after and would recommend the site to friends for a nice quiet place to relax, we would definitely like to return some time in the future.

We arrived at reception on a Sunday evening in August and was welcomed by a very pleasant lad who said he would show us to our pitch.

We hadn't booked in but this was a large site and no problem at being fitted in on spec.

We never had to queue for the toilets and showers. The showers are free. The toilets were being cleaned out at 6am before the main morning rush and restocked.

There is also a washing up area and a laundry area with washing machine and tumble drier.

There is a very good play park which was busy and enjoyed by children. At 9pm it was locked up and the noise of the children having fun soon quietened as they all went back to their caravans, campers and tents.

There is also a well stocked shop and a building with table tennis and pool table and wifi.

This is a tidy site and would be happy to visit again.

Just returned from a 4 night break to this site and can only echo all the previous excellent reviews.

We were shown to pitch 119 at the top of the field(just to clarify a previous reviewers comment on these pitches being on a slope) yes these pitches are on a general slope there are large flat areas plenty big enough for the average tent so there are no worries about falling out of bed.

The playpark is certainly impressive which did seem to keep the kids occupied most of the day, I would add that although not a problem for us(we were all kids once) there was certainly a bit of noise after it had closed at 9pm with the kids not leaving the park as told by the warden. This I feel is not the fault of the site as parents have a part to play as well. (just a personal gripe as my daughter who is 11 commented on it).

The noise continued till about 1030ish with the older kids playing 'Manhunt'. Again not really a problem for us, just an observation.

The facilities were although not new, very serviceable with plenty of hot water. The view from our pitch was wonderful and we could survey the whole of the main field from it.

Blandford has all the amenities you need although when we visited the local pool was closed for repair, but to be honest my daughter enjoyed the park so much it wasn't a problem.

The site is within easy reach of Poole/Bournemouth and the other attractions, we visited Corfe Castle and Monkey world.

All in all we had a wonderful time and would definaltly go again,

This was my first 'big' camp after a few weekend try outs closer to home.

As per other reviews, the toilet floors were not spotless but it wasn't a big problem. I only had to wait for a shower once, and it was only me waiting. We had a nice flat pitch, and all the trees and hedges seemed well cut back. Sinks, laundry, etc all were fine - loved the live webcam of baby birds! Shop had everything we were desperate for and a few things beside.

Local pub had a nice play area - and the campsite play area was very impressive. Luckily it was suitable for my 2 year old as well as my 5 year old.

We were there for a week. The first half I had a few issues with noise - the kids formed into giant teams and played a manhunt type game until 11 which involved running around tripping over the guylines and shouting a lot. Luckily it would seem the orchestrators left on the Saturday and it changed to some noise until 10 and then peace - much better. Unfortunately luck of the draw.

By the way, our sat nav (iphone Google maps and Navfree) couldn't find the camp site. It took us miles out the way to a private drive with a sign 'no access to inside park'. When you get close enough to see the brown tent signs, follow them. Just a shame they don't say 'Inside Park', I had visions of ending up at a totally different site.

I would be happy to go back, but to be honest I will probably try somewhere else next time - probably somewhere with a smaller play park. It was lovely for my kids in daylight hours but the night time disturbance for half my stay was a little too much.

We have been coming to Inside Park for nearly 10 yrs, with our 4 children and dogs

We come in Aug and May and have now recently since getting a caravan, started coming April sept and Oct

We have stayed on a lot of the pitches and granted some do slope, but last yr they did level off a lot of the top pitches

The site is divided into 2 parts - dog side and non dog side and my only complaint would be that some owners don't stick to this rule and will walk over to the non dog side to the play park with their dogs and allow them to wee and mess on the grass that the kids will later roll about in, the owners have 2 large signs up showing you the end of the dog side, but I guess some people are above all laws

The surrounded woodlands is great for dog walking and for the kids to play, there are also 3 marked out walks red walk white walk and yellow walk, which take you all around the stunning surrounding area

The toilet block always has hot water and is kept clean with 2 cleaning sessions per day, but by 9 pm they are messy, but I feel this is the campers fault rather than the site fault, as the mess is mainly dropped tissue and muddy feet, it is all spotlessly tidy again by morning

It has a laundry room with 3 machines and 3 tumbles, also an iron and board

They are also about 9 washing up sinks and a clothes washing sink.

They is 1 family/disabled room which has a baby bath, sink, shower, loo and hand rails and a seat for you to use while showering should you need it

There is a games room that has free wifi, it has a few pools tables and table football to keep the kids happy, they all sit in there with their phones and laptops as the park can be a bit touch and go for signal

The shop is open 9 am until 6 ish but off peak times its a few hrs twice a day, it stocks all you would need, it has a small gift selection so you can purchase gifts for people back home

The Play park is amazing, it keeps our 2 remaining kids happy( 9yrs and 13yrs )

The park is opened at 9am and locked at 9pm

With the shouts of 'chicken run' where they 'tease' the key holder and hide in the park, I'm sure the key holders hate this but the kids are very amused by it and from about 8pm you can hear the buzz from the park where they are waiting with excitement for the key holder to turn up, a lot of us parents go over to ensure its not ours that are being a pest, but a lot of parents don't, so the park cant be blamed for 'unruly kids' the key holder will go over to parents of kids that are being a particular pest, in aug one child was banned from the park for 2 days which I feel is fair, as it spoils it for other holidaymakers

With ref to manhunt this has been played for the 10 yrs we have been going and years before so I don't feel it could be stopped now even if people did want to stop it

They play 'manhunt' until about 10 pm, some reviews have said this is annoying, but it had become a parks tradition and they kids enjoy it very much, however they can become a little noisy,

As they simple run and chase each other through the woods until all members have been caught, The games room is locked at about 10. 30 when the owner does his last rounds of the park, and once this is locked the kids go back to their pitches.

The site is kept tidy, they are always emptying the bin areas,

There is a large tesco close by, also an icelands and a morrisons and others shops like boots should you need any meds for the kids

Some of the local takeaways deliver to the park if you meet them at the main gate by reception

The park has a chip van that comes twice a week, although we have never used it as it arrives at 7. 15 and we have generally eaten or at least started cooking by then, it then takes a good 30 mins for them to set up and the first order to be ready, maybe this should come about 5. 30 so its ready for people to eat about 6 ???

All in all a lovely site, lovely owners and their son is very helpful

We are going back there in 2 wks and already know our stay will be great

Had a last minute booking of a one nighter to test new motorhome and was highly delighted by service received and campsite itself.

They were friendly and helpful and didn't mind that I moved further in to the site rather than stay at the peg given. I checked on the latecomers notice board outside reception that the new peg wasn't being used first of course.

My two dogs loved the nearby woods to walk and be off-lead in. There were squirrel sightings aplenty and even a badger spotted going about his business in the morning! The resident swallows swooped low and near entertaining the dogs as I sat drinking my morning coffee under my awning. Heaven.

I used the well stocked shop and the spotless toilets but didn't have time to use the other facilities so it would be unfair to comment.

I will definitely be returning.

What a lovely site. Beautiful setting with a large open main meadow and lots of smaller pitches in the trees around the edges.

The children's play area is fantastic and centrally situated so you can keep an eye on them from most of the pitches. There are small areas of woodland with rope swings etc, where the children had a great time playing. Some great walks in the couple of miles around the site with beautiful views - ask at the shop for a free map.

The shower blocks are a little tired but were kept very clean and weren't crowded even on a busy weekend.

Owners were very friendly and accommodating, and kept a lid on noise once it got dark.

All in all, a great site and one I am sure we will return to.
