We have just returned from a weekend at Riverside Caravan Park where amazingly the sun shone for the whole time!
We had a lovely time at this park and will probably return in the near future despite a few niggles.
The site is excellently situated on the banks of the River Avon with the 'Millenium Bridge' connecting the touring park to Avon Park with its log cabin style holiday homes. From here you can walk into Stratford along the riverside.
At the other end of the touring park is Rayford Park with holiday and residential caravans. This is where the bar is located ( with beer at 2 quid a pint!)
I recommend travelling at least one way into Stratford by water taxi from the jetty at the site. It is 1.50 each way and is worth it to see how the other half lives! The homes on the water's edge are fantastic! Apparently, we were told that one of them belonged to Chris Tarrant until a year ago. Who wants to be a millionaire? I do if it means you can afford a house like that!
The walk back from Stratford Town Centre up Tiddington Road only took us a leisurely 20 minutes which was also very pleasant as you can see the fronts of the houses that you passed on the way in by boat.
The site is a trifle on the large side and as such has a bit of a 'corporate' fell about it.
The shower block really was not adequate for the size of the park with queues on both mornings for the 4 female showers. My husband didn't have to queue for the 4 mens' showers but they were busy too! Both male and female amenities were however, very clean and well kept.
Also, my husband was quite disgusted at the state on the chemical waste disposal point - not nice at all. Definitely needs sorting.
So, all in all, we feel that the site really relies on the stunning riverside setting but is 'resting on it's laurels' somewhat. It is time for a bit of investment to bring the site up to expected standards. 'Portacabins' are not really what is expected in a cafe and bar in such a beautiful environment.

When we arrived we where met by the friendliest of wardens who showed us to our pitch which was flat and had electric. The showers were of a good standard and clean.
Being at the side of a river there are a lot of very friendly ducks all looking for titbits, you didn't need the TV it was so entertaining watching the wildlife at times it was like being in a wildlife film.
For me the most charming thing about the whole visit was the river taxi which is run by the site and takes you into stratford along the most lovely winding river it cost £1.50 and is not to be missed.
There are eateries everywhere you will be spoilt for choice every thing about our whole stay was perfect from the moment we drove onto site until we left. We look forward to our next visit

We thought this was a lovely site. The staff were friendly, the site was beautifully situated by the river, well kept and, despite being all grass, was firm when we were there although it had rained heavily during the week. I thought the loos/showers were a little bit dated but extremely clean and although it was an August weekend, there was no wait for showers.
There are a lot of static vans and smart wooden holiday lodges in the adjoining fields and a clubhouse with entertainment, if you like that sort of thing. However, the touring park is well away from the racket and we found it very relaxing. The touring park has no children's playground (hurrah) but there is one next to the clubhouse.
We didn't use the cafe apart from to order papers but it was doing a roaring trade in breakfasts. As per earlier reviews, the chemical disposal point really does need updating but this was the only down point that I could see.
We took the water taxi into Stratford, which was lovely. If you prefer, it is walkable or there is a half hourly bus service about 5-10 mins walk from the site. The village of Tiddington, about 10 mins walk from the site, has a nice pub that serves food, a wine merchant, Spar shop (open til 10pm),a Chinese and an Indian restaurant and (amazingly) a tapas bar!
A couple of miles up the road is NT's Charlecote House which is also well worth a trip. It has a very nice plant/flower shop next to the NT car park.
Highly recommend Riverside and we will definitely be back. It was expensive at £46 for 2 nights but you can stay on site until 4pm on the last day. At those rates though, the site should sort out the CDP as soon as possible.

Excellent site,
Unfortunately I did not personally experience the on site cafe, the rest of my party did and found it excellent.
I did not do the on site club house either.
Both of these point to a need to return.
Incredible location
An excellent site, the drainage investment has paid off, after a few days of rain, the ground underfoot in the awning was still perfectly dry.
The toilet block was fine (If you get the right shower, I myself moved from one to the other, the one to the right as you walk in the male toilets is more than fine)
The only criticism I would go with, is the chemical disposal area, it is a little outdated, is heavily disinfected but a small concession to make regarding the big picture.
No rowdies on site. The Police who DO visit the cafe regular are always on tap.
Young children may prove difficult to occupy on site, nothing wrong with the site but if not into fishing and they are not prone to keeping still :-) I guess you need to be off site
Local amenities are more than adequate, a river taxi is a must, even if it is just to dream of where you could live (some serious houses here)Stratford Upon Anon on the doorstep with everything you need.
For me and my family which currently consists of One wife. One 14 yr old daughter plus 14 yr old friend of daughter .Excellent.Nearly booked for next year on departure today !

We stayed at this caravan site in July 2009, it is a great site with a great feel. We were allowed to our pick from 10am and had to be left by 12pm or able to pay an extra £2 for a late check out. The toilet and shower facilities were fantastic, they were always very clean.
The 99p breakfast was great too.
It rained very heavily for about 3-4 days during my 12night stay and over all the touring fields coped well. There were a few pitches that coped less well but over all the ground was still solid.
We took the River Taxi into Stratford a couple of times and that was great also.
My only very slight niggles were there was only 1 grey waste and chemical toilet disposal point and if you were at the furthest point away from these facilities it was a little walk. Also the Childrens Play area was quite a walk away in the other camp site. That said it wasn’t too bad.
Over all a great site and I would definitely come back to this site again.

On arrival we received a very warm welcome, the staff were really friendly despite being busy as it was a Bank Holiday weekend.
We were one of the last arrivals and felt that the caravans had been squeezed in, there was just enough space for our caravan and awning but the car had to be parked in front of the van not the side. The warden did say that some people hadn't followed his instructions on how to pitch their units but surely he should have made sure that this happened.
The site is really clean and tidy the toilets and showers were spotless. This site is in a great location for Stratford with loads of shops and historical places to visit. The departure time for the site is 4 o'clock for weekends and Bank Holidays which is brilliant. Overall we had a great weekend and will be going again.

The field we were put on was a mud bath we struggled to get pitched and was even worse to get of. To go for a shower was a nightmare we had to go up in the car as it was the only way to keep clean. One shower and toilet block for 3 fields and due to the amount of caravans that were there I think there should be 1 per field. The childrens play area is too far for children to go safely on their own as its in an adjacent caravan park as is the club house.

Stayed one night on our way travelling home. Good location on the banks of the Avon. No landscaping on site probably because it is the flood plain. Water taxi operated by the site was very good £1.50 e/w. Staff friendly, shown to pitch and informed about the clubhouse
Surprisingly not allowed to use windbreaks nor disposable bbqs even with stand. TV reception non-existent though Freeview site indicates otherwise, many people using additional aerials
Loo and shower block modern and clean though only one serving whole site. Grey water and disposal points limited in number

I can highly recommend this park. A lovely warm welcome upon arrival and shown to our pitch. All facilities are excellent and the small quick service cafe open from 8am til 7 at night with breakfast starting at only 99p! Site and facilities were tidy and clean. You are minutes from restaurants, local shop, pub at Tiddington Village and about a 20 minute walk into Statford. There is a taxi boat which runs daily for £1.50 each way as well. Plenty of room and you can also use the next parks club house which also has entertainment on a saturday night. All in all excellent and can't wait to go back.

A very good site, we enjoyed out stay. The site is well positioned for Stratford, 20 minute walk.
The toilet block was very modern, but the showers were very weak and are of the push button type, one shower only stayed on for 5 seconds the rest did about 10 - 15 secs I'm small but still had to turn around to get totally wet.
I agree about the chemical waste point, it was very out dated for this type of site and was very smelly.
The site is well kept and the wardens are very friendly and hard working.
We did have a meal in the cafe [it must be done] and it was very good and very cheap.
