We spent the Bank Holiday here at the beginning of May. We had great weather on the Saturday and Sunday, but it rained all Sunday night and Monday morning - typical for a BH!
However, this apart, the rally field was fine. A bit muddy from previous wet weather, but we were able to avoid this. It is a large site, which is beside the river running through it. Sadly the river taxi wasnt working when we were there but we walked into Stratford and it took us about 20 minutes at a brisk pace.
The site was clean and tidy, with a lovely toilet and amenities block. The showers were fantastic, the water was plentiful and hot, hairdryers were free and when I went at 8.30am Sunday there was no queue at all.
The Elsan is hidden behind the grey water drain and not easy to see, but is at the end of the shower block. The washing up room is clean and spacious.
We didn't use the cafe but from the four police cars outside on Sunday morning, the breakfasts are worth eating! The PC's were all tucking into a full english and it was £1 for a single egg, bacon, sausage etc, or £2 for a double breakfast including a cup of tea! Fantastic value.
There is a club house with a childrens play area outside, and the beer prices were reasonable. The large field adjacent is perfect for ball games / frisbees etc and far enough away to not cause problems with flying objects.
We had a great stay and would recommend it to families and couples alike.

Just returned after a pleasant 4 night, Mon-Fri stay here. Margaret and Peter are very welcoming and helpful. This large site is level throughout, and we had plenty of room between us and the caravans either side of us. The only noise we heard were the birds singing, its so wonderfully quiet.
Anne will cook you breakfast in the centrally situated cafe, its still only 99p for sausage, bacon, egg and toast and a large mug of milky coffee is 90p, really worth a visit and gets the day off to a good start.
Unfortunately the river taxis' were damaged a few months ago by the floods and were unavailable during our stay, there is a bus service about half a mile away that will take you into Stratford.
Large, immaculately clean toilet/shower block, but it was completely unheated during our stay and very cold, so we used our caravan to shower which meant re-filling the water tank every day. There was a sign saying it had underfloor heating, but I didnt see anyone else brave the cold to shower there either.
Stratford is a lovely place and the houses along the road where the camp is situated are breath-takingly beautiful.
Dont worry about packing a lot of groceries as there is a 24hr Tesco's and a Morrison's on the outskirts of Stratford that sells everything, the latter reduces its cakes/pastries/rolls/pies at 8pm as it closes at 9pm. The only thing I missed was a traditional fish and chip shop but there are plenty of indian/chinese take-aways, and many lovely places if you wish to eat out.

Just returned from overnight stay at Riverside Caravan Park. All grass site. Weather was fantastic (after a week of heavy rain). Agree not much space between vans but adequate. Cafe/shop on site, very reasonable prices - we ate there and didn't bother cooking. You can order a morning paper. River taxi every half hour from site into Stratford (£1.50 adults and £1.00 child), unfortunately can only take 5 and there was three in front of us so we ended up walking - approx 20 mins along the main road in front of the site. You can get back along the river but you come to a dead end at the start of the lodges so have to walk across a field and out of the gate onto the road, through Avon's other site and over the bridge. Quite simple but we panicked and thought we had to go all the way back into Stratford. The children's play area is small and next to the Club House - quite a walk from where we were but my daughter was quite happy feeding the ducks. We will definitely be going back to this site.

Really pleased with all the facilities on site, all aspects of the site were as we hoped, special mention to the toilet block it was absolutly spotless - much credit to the Polish cleaner who always seemed to be keeping on top of the facility. The location was suberb and it really is as it says right on the river Avon, our plot was 20 yards from the river and the children loved feeding the swans and geese that live on this stretch. We took the river taxi to Stratford which really is a pleasent way to start a day out, the guys are friendly and the service is pretty cheap at £10 return for a family of four. The village of Tiddington is five minutes walk and has a couple of restraunts and a pub, also a good deli for fresh local quality produce. Would definitlty recommend, just a bit on the quiet side for our children though, but probably ideal for most caravaners who want the piece and quiet.

Just returned from Riverside after a lovely 3 night break. There had been a lot of rain and the site was fairly wet but we were towed onto our pitch by the tractor and settled in place. This was our first time out with the caravan and I was really nervous (especially after taking the wrong turn and towing it through the centre of Stratford) but we had a great time.
The site was very quiet, just what we wanted, and our kids played happily on the open space next to the caravans. The toilet block was clean and there were never any queues. We had breakfast every morning from the cafe, and then spent the days in Stratford, which is a great place for children and adults.
This site is very good value for money, only £16.00 a night for a caravan, awning and electrics. We will definitely visit again. Thank you to everyone on the site.

August 2005 What a site!! Absolutely brilliant... Not much more to say than what everyone else has said, the toilets were modern and clean, the 99p breakfasts make it not worth cooking, its location on the river is second to none and the taxi boats are fantastic. The clubhouse nextdoor only has entertainment on a saturday but the beer prices are cheaper than the pubs.
What I like most about this site, and hasnt really been acknowledged by the other reviews is its value for money. A week long break in August for a family of four on an electric pitch (with tv hook up and water next to your van) for £99!!!!! No additional charges, no club passes needed, no extra £2 a night for your dog/ kids/ awning/ car/ wife etc, just one set price and very good value at that. Well done Avon Estates on running a fantastic site, I for one will definitely be returning soon.

June 2005 Just got back from Riverside, staff are very helpful. The river taxi is very good for Stratford town centre no parking problems. Every half hour £1 each way per person drops you off opposite RSC theatre only got to walk over the bridge to town centre. Can use the club on Rayford site 10 min walk or you can get temp membership at Stratford bowls club at the entrance to the site.
Cafe is excellent for breakfast, cheap and very clean worth a try also ok for small provisions, milk tinned food etc.I found the toilet block clean to say there was a caravan rally in the opposite field ,must have been 100 vans just at the rally. Will definitely return again. Was told by a static owner not to use taxi's to and fromSstratford as they are very expensive only 1.5 mile journey £7.50 each way

June 2005 Great site well run and very clean including the toilet blocks. The staff are very helpful and the setting is great, we only live 10 miles away but coming here we could be 100 miles away. The river taxi is a godsend as for £1 you get dropped in the centre of stratford no traffic james or parking worries and this runs every 1/2 hour. Just outside the site is a pub and 2 resturants. A great site, a must if you want to explore warwickshire.

May 2005 The site is well situated for touring the Cotswolds as well as the South Midlands. The pitch we were given was uneven and we needed to use levelling blocks even though it looked flat. The shop/cafe is excellent for a site shop with the breakfasts as the star buy. The only concerns we had were the feelings of being tightly packed in to the field when there was plenty of room elsewhere and the cleanliness of the toilet/shower block, which left a lot to be desired. The cleaning needs to be adressed before i would consider returning to this site, as other problems can be overlooked but not this.

August 2004 We thought this campsite was quite nice and people at reception were friendly. We were really close to the little cafe which was handy. The campsite is huge and it is extremely pretty down by the river.
Our only complaint with this stay is that the toilets were being cleaned when everyone was getting up and wanting to wash. You either could not get in or if you were ahead of the cleaners, they locked you in with them!! Otherwise we had a good time
