Stopped over for one night on our way to West Wales. Very busy (as you would expect in July). Were very glad we had booked as traffic jams on the the M25 resulted in us arriving at 8.30pm. As noted elsewhere the pitches are small. We felt very overlooked in a small campervan. The showers were excellent - very clean and enough of them - also private loos with a sink which was nice touch and sinks with cubicals. We would stay again, not in the high season, but felt the site was well run and its location close to motorways and Bath was good.

This is a nice site and we had a lovely 4 night stay overall. There were a few things I feel could be improved but nothing major.
The site is split into 3 areas, a tent field with no electric by the river, a tent field with mixed electric and non electric pitches and a caravan / motorhome area.
In the blocks there are 6 toilets, 4 showers, 4 enclosed sinks and a large mirror / sink area. There is a hairdryer and a hand dryer also. You can walk and use the caravan site shower block which is much bigger and nicer but it’s not as close to the tent field.
On the first night we had 200 architect students turn up and trying to use the toilet or have a shower was hard work. Luckily they only stayed one night and were gone early in the morning. They were rather noisy during the night and the owners / management were out first thing in the morning to sort things out and talk to other site users.
There is a mop in the main shower block which most people used but by the end of the day the floor was covered in mud and grass and not cleared until the next morning. A few more visits by the site staff would have been of benefit.
We asked for the key to the family bathroom (£5 refundable deposit) not realising there was a choice of a bath or shower room and were given one for the bathroom. We only found out you had to pay for the bath once we were in there and it was too late to buy a token or go and change the key for the family shower room. A bath is £1.25 to cover the hot water and showers are free. It would have helped if the guy had pointed out the bath needed a token. The next day we changed the key and the family shower room didn’t have a mop which it should have had as we had to leave the floor all muddy and wet
We had a good pitch. I had asked when booking to be sited near to the toilet due to being pregnant and they had done this for us. We also went with friends which we informed them of and they sited us together.
The female staff were polite and helpful. The second night we had a group behind us talking, screaming and laughing at the top of their voices till gone 1am. There is no night patrol so you have to deal with it yourself or wait until the morning. I complained in the morning and the guy did see to things almost immediately
The site is a conservation area so it was nice to see recycling bins and campers using them. There are also lost of butterflies and birds and ducks to feed on the river.
There is a little shop that stocks basics from Sainsbury’s and other bits like toys, camping equipment and gas bottles. It’s a sponsored village shop so Sainsbury’s supply the goods to them and although you do pay more for them it’s easier than driving somewhere for something small.
The pub on site is clean and nice but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on the food. It is set right on the river and had we been there on the weekend we would have joined everyone for breakfast on the river which I imagine would have been lovely.
There’s a launderette, playground, tourist info room and a small beauty salon so you can book a massage, pedicure etc.
You can walk through the site along the river right into Bath which takes about 45 minutes (15 cycling) or you can walk up a hill, about 5 minutes, to a bus stop that takes you in to the City also. It cost us £3.25 an adult return and was much easier than trying to park a car.
The site is well placed for so many attractions - Bath, Longleat (well worth a whole days visit for the whole family), Wookey Hole, Stonehenge, Weston-Super-Mare and many others.
No TV reception in the tent field and Wifi is not offered.
Our little boy loved the site and riding his bike and playing ball and he met some friends which was nice.
If we are ever down that way and need somewhere to stay, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Just returned from a four night break at this pleasant site. Gorgeous setting with the brook and the trees. Ideal location for Bath, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge, and if like us you don't mind a drive the devon coast and moors.
Toilets were clean, showers were hot and the free hairdryer was a nice touch. Nice dog walk, if a little steep and overgrown in places. The on-site pub and it's food was ok, but we preferred The Globe about 3/4 mile up the road, their food was lovely. On the subject of food, don't leave any outside your tent or magpies may come visiting! They did us : )
Only grumble was that on the Friday night the site filled up quickly and it was quite noisy until well past 2am, in fairness to the owners they ask you to report any noisy campers, but as the people involved were wandering about it was hard to say where they were camped. We have stayed at sites where wardens patrol 24/7 and this is usually a good deterrent for this sort of thing.
All in all, a nice site ideal for those with children.

Last year we stayed at Newton Mill for the second year running. We like it as it's quiet enough to relax but close enough to Bath itself for sightseeing. Having a regular bus service nearby is also a plus - no arguments about who gets stressed driving into Bath and finding a parking space!
We found the food at the bar/restaurant was very good, and opted for breakfast as well, on our morning of departure. The selection of beers was good as well.
In fact, we love this site so much that we've booked another stay for this year, in 4 weeks time!

Excellent camp site. The food in the pub was very good and all the facilities were very clean and in good working order. We had great weather and cycled into Bath by the canal, took longer than expected but worth it in the end. The children enjoyed paddling in the stream, the play area, eating icecream and the freedom of cycling around the site. Would definitely go back.

We have just returned from a very relaxing and pleasant stay in Bath.
We found the campsite to be well run, scenic and located far enough away from things so that it is quiet but close enough to walk or bus into the thick of things. Over all we enjoyed our stay but we have one critisism to make, although the staff were efficient we would have apprciated a little more warmth and friendliness as occasionally they came accross as being rude.
The Globe, a pub located near the campsite, has an excellent choice of evening meals, and is set in pleasant surroundings. Supermarkets are situated approx 5 minutes away. Bath itself is a 10 minute drive or a half hour walk.

This is one of our favourite sites! Just got back from a couple of nights here - our 2nd visit.
We had a great hardstanding pitch (85) alongside the stream. Fab weather so sat outside for lunch listening to the stream, the birds and feeding the duck and her 6 babies!
Easy and friendly check in. Fantastic toilet/shower facilities. Never had to wait for showers although site was pretty busy for early May! Great walk into Bath along the cycle path/river (takes about 45/50 mins). On site pub/restaurant is a great asset. Really friendly staff. Good real ale and nice reasonably priced food that is presented well and comes out quickly with a smile!
We hated leaving this time. We will definitely be back again. And again. And again!
Thank you Newton Mill!

This rates as one of the best sites we have been to. The toilet and shower block is excellent and spotlessly clean. It is very peacefull and organised.
The site is set in beautifull grounds with a stream running right through the centre of it.
The pub on site is great with excellent food at a good price.
The owners are very friendly and happy to help.
There is a shop on site with a good selection.
There is a good walk alongside the river which takes about 45mins to get into Bath.
Bath is stunning and a must to visit as well as Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole not too far away.
Will definitely be visiting again.

This rates as one of the best sites we have visited, the pitches were of a generous size (Pitch 140)and grassy. Toilet blocks were clean and never that busy. Though we did pay for the use of the family shower room (£5 deposit and you keep the key for the duration of your visit). Agree with other comments with regards to the shop they could stock a little more. The bar on site was reasonably priced and the food was fantatsic. It is well placed to visit Bath, Longleat and Wookey Hole.
We will definitely be returning
Management response:
Thank you for your comments. We wish to clarify that there is no charge for the use of the Family Room. The £5 is a refundable deposit on the key. We keep the room locked so that it is available for families when they require it.

Just got back from our third visit to the site, as usual toilet and shower facilities EXCELLENT. We have a 24ft caravan and we found our pitch great but we did not erect an awning . The stream running through the site is lovely and there is an abundance of wildlife and we got used to Mr. And Mrs. Duck visiting us daily.
The children went off to the play area which is very safe , we did not go to the bar and restaurant on site this time as the Easter entertainment which is usually provided was not available this time. Just a short car journey away (approx 5 mins max) is a lovely pub THE GLOBE which serves great food at reasonable prices.
Despite the adverse weather this Easter we had a great break and will be going back very soon. Newton Mills is a perfect retreat, regarding the noise this is not a problem the odd train and the airplanes are very few (perhaps we do not notice this as we live very close to heathrow). All in All a first class place to be
