Just returned from a lovely weekend at Newton Mill caravan park. The reception staff were very helpful and able to answer all our queries regarding the area/services. The bar/restaurant is comfortable, very easy to get talking to people. The food we had was delicious, very good prices too. There is a lovely area outside to sit and have a drink. The site has a stream running down the side - most of the hardstanding caravan pitches are along here. It was so relaxing to sit listening to the birds in the trees and the water going by, with the added entertainment of the ducklings (who could fit in the palm of your hand) diving about with their mum after the bread I was throwing. The loos/showers - as you would expect, after winning 'loo of the year' award - were kept very clean and warm. We had a pleasant walk from the site into Bath along the riverside. Bath itself is absolutely beautiful, I recommend going on the bus tours - the guides are very entertaining as well as being informative!

A lovely site situated next to a stream. The pitches were a good size, with some nice hardstanding. The stream ran behind half of the pitches and waking up to the sound of water and birds was lovely and peaceful - very tranquil. The shop was adequate with basic provisions, They did have alot of information about things to do. The toilets were amazing, they even had a separate bathroom with a bath. Very clean and very modern. The kids playground was OK but nothing special. Great access to Bath which was only a short drive away, parking was easy. Also there was a direct cycle route to the town centre which we want to try next time.

I must say, we now stop at this site a couple of times a year, as it is the best one in the area, and after a long journey down from the Northern part of the UK, it is a huge pleasure to arrive and take time out here and relax. We have found you need to book in advance during the Bank Holiday's as it is so popular, which is understandable, especially those with families. The toilet block is very well maintained, clean, modern and a delight with plenty of hot water. The reception staff are very friendly and will give you as much information and help that they can - very approachable ladies they are. We started to visit the camp at the beginning of 2005, and we have seen a great improvement with the bar area. I think the chef has changed hands?. The menu firstly has changed and secondly the quality of food - which is now second to none. We feel it has definitely upgraded the restaurant. The menu now has adorable homemade food, certainly not microwaved as previously. The Sunday lunch is a must - (if you opt for a lunch in the bar on a Sunday you get a free extension - till 2.30pm). It is a great size meal with a good selection of veggies. Quick and friendly waitresses (one of the girls was the daughter of the bar man). We had a meal in the new conservatory and what an outstanding addition to the bar/restaurant this is. The barman, well what can we say, he is just great.(Billy the barman). Once you get to know him, he is such a lovely, friendly person and we enjoy a social banter with him, he just has a dry sense of humour and I must say he is always to hand when you need a drink or to pay your bill. On occasions the bar was a little smoky (which came from other campers not the barman), However, we asked to open the window - which was no problem and it soon cleared - great to see how pro-active you are to make it smoke free in Jan 07. Excellent campsite with fantastic surroundings, location, the staff are a credit to the site. Keep up the excellent standards.

We have just opened a lovely new Conservatory as an extension to our Restaurant. This is a Non-Smoking Area which seats about 40 and is in a very pretty position overlooking the stream. In addition to this, in consultation with our staff who smoke, we are going Non-Smoking throughout the whole of the remaining Bar/Restaurant area from 1 January 2007. As everyone knows, this is 6 months ahead of the nationwide ban. We appreciate the custom of all our clients - both those who smoke and those who desire a smoke-free atmosphere - and hope that we will be able to provide for those who wish to have a cigarette in some way external to the building.

Heard so much about this site we thought we would give it a go. Great peaceful site, parked right next to the bubbling stream, as requested. The site was nearly full. Lots of resident campers at the far end, some were quite fast driving to work in the morning, and returning home, treated it like a main road. If you have children take care. Buses run regularly from the top of a fairly steep hill with a mud track - dont come back in the dark, no lights. Taxi cost £7 to Bath centre, well worth it.
Pub/restaurant looked good, food looked good. Although we wanted to order food we prefer to eat in a non smoking area, unfortunately this was in a small room by the kitchen, and seemed to be in the way of everyone. We had one drink, very good price, but the smoke from the bar staff and friends succeeded in moving us on. Dont expect to be served a drink if the barstaff have just lit a fag, you'll have to wait like we did, although the two couples behind us didn't, they just left.
If you want a site with pub restaurant, peaceful, out of the way, friendly receptionist, clean toilets, and pitches, this is the one for you. If they ever ban smoking in the pub/restaurant we will definitely return

Just spent a lovely restful weekend at Newton Mill. Very nice site, expect it can be busy in the summer months with campers - there was even one tent there this weekend - brave souls! Well set out with lovely babbling stream nearby. Good dog walks on site. The pub/restaurant served a moderate priced menu - recommend the mussels. Good selection of beers and wines also. Very helpful staff especially with handy maps for getting into Bath by foot/cycling/bus. We walked in and bussed back without any problems with dog in tow. Excellent shower/toilet facilities. Would definitely go back.

Hi my wife and I have just spent a long weekend at Newton Mill and we would just like to let others know what a picturesque and well managed site it is. Run buy a bunch of happy and very helpful people during the day of which some could be seen in the bar at night and were glad to talk about any thing and suggest places to visit over a pint the bar and prices were good and the bar man had a weird but humorous sense about him and brought a few laughs to me and my wife
The camping pitches were tidy the toilets spotless and as for some one moaning about £1.35 for a bath we thought this would of been good value especially if you were to have a couple of kids in tow! We will be visiting again next year the only down side for some maybe that even though the club house was good for us it was no night club but that was the way we liked it so all you non night clubbers pay them a visit .

We went for 3 nights and was very impressed! A picturesque setting and very clean. All pitches are marked out and there was plenty of room for a large tent and EHU. The toilet block was the best we've seen so far, really clean and modern. The staff were friendly and approachable. Also on site is a restaurant/bar with a lovely atmosphere, we only ate the once and it was lovely wholesome home cooked food. Prices are reasonable too both for the food and drink, nothing we wouldn't have paid down our local. Also on site is a small shop stocking the essentials; bread, milk, bacon and eggs. The owner there was also helpful for touring, great directions and also a map of the surrounding area came in very useful. All in all a superb break with no complaints. Oh there was the downpour as we were pitching. But I blamed the OH for that! LoL We shall definitely return again.

Stayed here for 5 days, an excellent site, well laid out, good pitches, easy access and very good facilities. Always hot water available, full bathroom but at an additional cost of £1.35 for the hot bathwater which I thought a bit over the top at £17.50 for the pitch. Good to see a site only charging 0.50p for the dog. Nice pub & restaurant on site. Very easy to get into both Bath & Bristol by car, bus or even on foot or by bike. Very helpful in reception, gave us all the information required and more. Recommended !
Response from site owner:
We would like to emphasise that there is no additional charge for the hot showers which are available for all campers. The additional £1.35 for the hot bath not only covers the cost of the hot water but also the cost of installing well appointed bathrooms (with addditonal water heaters)which are then available for the sole use and privacy of the client.

This camping and caravan site was exceptionally nice. Plenty of level pitches with hook ups if required. The city of Bath is only a ten minute bus journey away so no need to take the car. The bus stop is not in the most picturesque of locations however the buses are relatively frequent and the campsite is close to this but tucked nicely in the valley - away from the road and traffic. The facilities on the site were clean and well designed. I find its always more pleasant having a bench in the shower cubicle and sinks within cubicles for more privacy. (nice touch!) The other good part was that if you decided to go on one of the many lovely cycle routes near the park you can relax afterwards in a hot bath for £1.35. The well stocked shop is ideal for things you forgot to bring and the odd pint of milk. There is also a pub/restaurant on site which although I didn't visit looked charming with wooden benches and trees lit up with lights right next to a little stream. This is probably the best time of year to visit this site. No doubt that in mid summer the park does become quite a bit more lively - However, I was impressed by the pleasant, helpful and efficient management and would have no hesitations about returning to the site at a later date. Perhaps even in high season!
