August 2005 Just got back from this very busy and popular site. We stayed for a week over the Bristol balloon fiesta in our 4 berth caravan, with 2 kids, 1 dog and an awning. I was a little put off by the price on booking, £25.75 per night (10 % discount for 7 nights though), but the site more than lived up to it's expectations. There were a lot of foreign travellers on this site too, which I thought was great to see.
Due to the popularity of this site, it can seem rather "over busy" in certain areas of the site, although this did not effect us other than the neighbours car being very close to our awning the first few days. We asked to move plots due to the slope on the first issued, and this was done no problem.
As everyone else says, the staff are very helpful and friendly in the restaurant, reception and housekeeping. My 13 year old was quite happy to fish (as was my husband!) and they caught quite a few which were put straight back in as advised to do so. We are certainly going back next year, but we will make sure that we take our bikes as there are lots of miles of cycle path around. Thoroughly enjoyable.

August 2005 Have been here many times for short stays. This time we stayed 9 nights. We asked for a pitch by the stream in the EHU area and had a beautiful spot next to the stream at the end of the access road. We had cyclists and walkers marching through the pitch between the car and the camper. We found several piles of unpicked up dog mess the other side of our car and on the road. Not nice when the lights were out after the brief powercut in the pitch dark. We mentioned these niggles to the owners who agreed that there was not a path through the pitch. This was not helped by their map of the site that shows the brook as a dot and dash line - rather like a path! We asked that dog owners be reminded to pick up! Beautiful site as ever - we'll be back.

July 2005 We found this site absolutely fantstic. The scenery was stunning and the facilites were excellent. The pitches were a very good size. We stayed on the second weekend of July and it wasn't too packed so it was very peaceful and relaxing. There is a shop that sells the basics along with an ice pack service and the staff were very helpful. There is also a pub, games room, kids play area and washing / drying facilities - all tucked away so nothing is too intrusive.
The site is very well mapped out. Separate fields for campers without cars, campers with cars or small motorhomes and a caravan park.
We will definitely be visiting here again very soon, hopefully!

August 2005 I'm a camper with a 3 man.
Upon reading numerous reviews I have just very recently returned from my first visit.
I have to admit as I drove in the very first impression I had was that it was extremely crowded, you are literally camped with your guy lines crossing your neighbours. I also personally (possibly it's me) found that the staff weren't very friendly, polite yes but not particuarly warm. I can't comment on the bar food (it seems to get good reviews) but my partner and I did think the interior of the bistro did not really match the highly finished, attention to detail on the rest of the site.
These comments aside though, and should the owners ever view these reviews, I would like to say that I found your site wonderful. The 'squished' feel in the Paddock area was not at all as bad as I first suspected, once you are in there it's fine. we pitched right next to the stream and found it a charming location. The amentites were very clean and well maintained as was everything else.
I will most certainly be returning and would advise anyone else to try Newton Mill, it's peaceful and very relaxing. The fact that it's very busy all the time must surely mean people think the same.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.

August 2005 This site comes highly recommended. Its a first class site and is spotlessly clean, arrived at reception to be greeted by very friendly knowledgeable staff. The shop is fully stocked with all kinds of different items. The pitches are ample sized but have to agree with others that the EHU seem to be bigger. The toilets are down too flights of stairs and there is a warning that the steps are slippery when wet. The top four steps are just wood and the rest of them have anti slip surface covering on them. The toilet & shower facilities are very clean and if you wan to indulge yourself you can have a bath for £1.35 (token from shop) and you will get a bath full of hot water. The laundry facilities are very reasonably priced too. The restaurant provides a chef who is great fun and turns out excellent food - breakfast from 8.30am - 10.30am and is very reasonably priced so are the evening meals and provide a wide range of choice for everyone. The bar is not over priced for drinks. The site is only seven mins drive or so from the park and ride which takes you into Bath for £1.70 return. I would definetly be returning to this site and would definetly recommend the sights of the delightful city Bath.

August 2004 Dog walk lovely & good walk down to riverbank from site. Stream running through site very pretty, would ask for pitch near there next time. Went to pub once but didn't think much of it. Showers & toilets very clean & tidy. Small shop but had everything we needed. Staff helpful, loads of info for places to visit, Bath & Wells are a must. Will go back to the area but will try another site.

June 2005 Can't agree more with all the other positive reviews on this site.
Gripes....
Some Pitches still on the tight side for larger tents with accessories e.g Montana 6, side canopy, windbreak + car (had next doors car 6 inches from my guylines!!!) BUT the pitches with EHU's did seem to be a tad larger.
The steps down to the main campers toilet block (2 flights of them) are very slippy in the wet. Signs were posted of the danger only after people had fallen (I witnessed one fall and heard the commotion of another). The steps should ideally have an anti-slip surface.
Gripes aside then I would defintely recommend this site.

June 2005 Beautifully maintained and situated site, very convenient for Bath and surrounding area. Excellent breakfast in the Bistro beside the babbling stream (complete with mother duck and delightful ducklings).
Toilets and showers immaculate at all times. Owner extremely helpful and friendly. Can't wait to visit again.

May 2005 Arrived at Newton Mill at lunchtime. This was our first camping trip and it was also the nearest site to home as we could only get away for 1 night. First impressions very good, you come up a long drive to the reception passing tent pitches along the babbling stream. We were directed to the area where we could choose where we wanted to pitch. Found a nice pitch close to the showers and toilets but not too close. The site was lovely and peaceful and looked beautiful.
All facilities were lovely, showers and toilets modern and immaculate, children's play area very nice. Lots of wildlife to be seen and heard. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. My 4 year old didnt eat hers so the man taking orders decided to order her fried egg on toast and said she would get a lolly if she ate it all!! Lovely man and a lovely site that we cant wait to go back to.

April 2005 This was a brilliant campsite that we will be visiting again. The washing facilities were excellent and the showers were lovely and warm. The campsite has a good play area which is good for the kids. The bar is open at night and the restaurant is open in the morning and evening providing good variety in generous portions. The shop provides basic items but there is not a lot of choice. There is a regular bus service in to Bath only a short walk from the site.
