September 2004 First rate camp site. Amenities were excellent ranging from very clean toilets and showers to a well stocked shop and very helpful reception. The location of the site is excellent for visiting the local area's attractions - Cheddar, Longleat, Bath, Wookey Hole and Bristol. Good size pitch, especially for us trying out our new Vango Colorado 600 - very nice! Easy to find and helpful staff.

October 2004 Cheryl + Graham
Fantastic food at reasonable prices, most important the showers and toilets were spotless. shame about the owls at 2 o'clock in the morning but that's nature for you. A lovely site and really welcome even if you're from Cornwall!!??only joking.

August 2004 On arrival at this very pictureque site, i was directed to a paddock with a small babbling stream. It was very quiet and the amenities were excellent. Heated floors in the toilet and shower block, which were cleaned regularly twice a day, with plenty of hot water at all times. Plenty of drinking water points and a well stocked shop with both food, toys for the children and camping equipment. The playground was constructed in wood and had enough to occupy the children. There is an on site bistro serving food at very good prices, a launderette, telephone, games room and dishwashing facilities. A good bus service into Bath every 10 mins and surrounding areas and some really nice walks too. Well worth a visit and I shall be going back there many times in the future.

August 2004 Excellent location for Bath. Campsite scenery beautiful - Hills, trees and stream. Pitches spacious and well kept. Not a boggy site despite rain in previous weeks. Toilets, showers, baby-change and kitchen facilities immaculate and regularly maintained. Bar, restaurant, beer garden very nice. Quality food in clean, tidy surroundings, breakfast even available in restaurant (which was nice when we woke-up to rain). On-site shop and postbox excellent. Friendly, efficient staff. Dog walk very handy. Water tap close by. We went as a couple but many families too. Very quiet after 9pm as bar etc spaced well away from pitches. Best campsite I've ever visited.

August 2004 On the plus side, this is one of the best organised & well maintained sites I've ever been to. Excellent facilities & nice & clean despite some pretty grim weather.
BUT, the site is marked out in numbered pitches which are simply WAY TOO SMALL. There was no way we could get our tent and car in our allocated space. When camping, we all like to feel we've got away from it all. That simply doesn't happen on this site with pretty much everyone spilling over into each other's space.
A real shame that such a great site is spoiled by being so cramped.
************************ Added by Newton Mill Management
We have now increased the size of our pitches to cater for the large tents which are now increasingly popular and have also installed electric hook-up to 25 tent pitches.

August 2004 Great site with easy cycle into Bath along the canal. Best toilet facilities we've found no wonder David Bellamy recommends it. It's nice to stay on a site that's tolerant towards teenagers these days.

August 2004 We've just come back from a two week stay at this site and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay close to Bath and the surrounding area. The pitches for non-service tents were located in the 'Meadow' and 'Paddock' and although pitches were marked they had a nice relaxed open feel about them. A note of warning though, the paddock does not have tent-side parking and can only be reached by walking across a bridge. For those such as us, who wanted a serviced tent pitch, you are located in the main site along with the caravan and motorhome pitches. As with many other sites space here feels slightly more confined and we struggled to fit our Khyam Ultimate in between a grassy bank and the gravel edging to the road. There were other slightly better pitches, but I think if you've got a fairly large tent you best bring it to the attention of the site owners first. Despite that the facilities offered are very good with newly refurbished toilet blocks, play area for the children, bar, restaurant, and shop. Nearest main supermarket (Sainsbury's) was a few minutes drive into Bath city centre, which if you were feeling fit was also about 40 minutes walk along the canal. Overall a very good site which was nicely maintained by the owners and saw very few vacant pitches whilst we were there in August.

May 2004 Quite large site and bus to centre of Bath if you don't want to drive. We went out on day trips and got to Stonehenge & Avebury. Small tents have great little spaces that are raised up pieces of land with a car parking space down 3 steps. Hard to explain, but give a good view of the rest of the campsite. The showers and toilets were clean and warm. The pub did a greasy brekky, YUM! Would go back, one of our favourites so far. Good onsite shop too!

July 23 - 25 2004 A pretty camp site with woods, hills, stream, bar and facilities. Although all in a small valley. This means that if you are the last pitch in the row, by the exit or towards the toilets then everything goes by you. Also no steps as short cut down stepped pitches, saw two people tumble trying to walk down bank from top track to ours to avoid walk. The pitches by the stream are more of a small field so looked, from our side of the fence, the better option. The track runs through the middle of the pitches with very little clearance on each side, some had to park on track side on way in as no room between there pitches for a car. As we were in the area for a relations 50th birthday no problem at night sleeping! but very early onwards, 05.00ish meant an increasing stream of traffic, foot, car and bike going by the tent about 3 feet away, not to bad if it's grass but it was a gravel track. Bar was ok, tried it just before closing on night of camp BBQ, staff friendly, even cooked some more food to stave off the late night munchies. This site would be excellent at a quiet time of year but not bank holiday, first weekend of school summer holiday etc. Queues for toilets etc. Before somebody says why pick that time then, we did try to get my sister in law to change her birth date but unfortunately it falls on the same date every year. Recommend it, yes, but not if you like large pitches, open areas etc.
