Always a good bet - clean and comfortable. Excellent washrooms. The bar is a bit weird. We had a very strange experience there last summer and the bar manager was down right rude - but it may well have changed since so don't let that put you off. Good pitch sizes - and great access to Bristol to Bath cycle route.

My partner and myself stayed in this campsite just for the weekend. The location of the campsite is quire convenient, there is a local bus stop just nearby and will take you to town pretty frequently (run every 10 mins or so, and around £3 pp). The site itself is really well looked after, and staff there are pretty helpful, just need to remember to state if you are driving or walking when you book for tent pitches as they charge extra for non membership if you have a car with you. The toilets and shower areas were really very well equipped and extremely clean, that's really why they are well deserved to have the *loo of the year* title. Apart from that, it also has really good facilities, laundriette areas, tourist information areas with various types of leaflets ranging from Bath to Bristols and the vicinities too, really rather useful. There is also a really nice pub on site, where they serve breakfast everyday with good portions and prices (really very pleasant staff there) and that really set off the day very nicely, quite ideal for campers like us, as we didn't need to go out to town to hunt for breakfast every morning. All in all this place is an excellent place to stay, location wise, staff helpfulness, the pleasantness of the surrounding areas in the campsite itself, the excellent conditions of the toilets/washing areas etc etc make this site the best campsite we have been to so far this year. We would strongly recommend this place to our friends without a doubt!

This was our first camping trip. Self, wife and two boys. It is a beautiful site - we stayed in The Paddock area which was next to the stream. We feel it was the best site on the park, quiet and pretty. Facilities were superb, very clean and a lot better than we expected they would be (perhaps we have been spoilt on our first camping trip - lets hope other sites are as good in that respect). Two downsides - we did not feel that the Bistro staff were at all helpful or friendly and the food, as another reviewer put, did seem to be cooked in a microwave in the dish. The lack of a credit card facility was a bit unusual for us and it did seem to be recurrent question by other travellers to the staff which was always put down as too costly or inconvenient. As a result we went to a nearby pub the second day of our visit and got totally fantastic service and as a result spent twice as much money there - there were nine of us in the group so imagine what this could be worth to the site - hopefully a lesson to be learnt there!

This is a lovely site, we stayed in the paddock alongside the stream. The children spent hours paddling, and we were very lucky with the weather. The toilets and showers were extremely clean, with plenty of hot water. We had an excellent stay. However, you should be aware that this site does not accept credit cards for anything - not for checking in nor in the bar/restaurant. We ate in the restaurant on our first night there and will definitely not return. The reception at the bar was 'frosty' if not just plain rude. The menu looked lovely, but the 9 meals we ordered varied from just ok to absolutely awful and was definitely overpriced. So, a lovely site for camping - but don't eat in the restaurant. For camping the Paddock is the better place to be especially if you want room for children to play, but be aware of the dangers a stream might present. As the site became busier, room on the actual pitches seemed to become quite cramped, but on the Paddock this wasn't a problem at all.

We've just returned from a week at Newton Mill. Like all sites it has its pros and cons. We were lucky to have a very nice pitch next to the river with enough space - I had told them when booking that we have a very large awning and they had clearly taken that into account. However, the site was packed out at the weekends and I think some of the pitches (even the EHU) are too small. There's no places to play in the games in the caravan/motorhome area as pretty much all the site is taken up with pitches.
On the up side, paddling in the stream and fishing was enjoyed by loads of kids (and me). The toilets are some of the best we've come across anywhere, with washing cubicles even in the mens. The site is not entirely peaceful as the western end is very close to the busy mainline railway and flights out of Bristol pass overhead. Getting into Bath by bus is easy, but its probably two far to walk with kids (we tried it, trust me).

We spent a brilliant week at this site, (the weather helped too). I've a 10 year old girl and an 8 year old boy, who were totally entertained for the whole week. There was plenty of other kids to play with on the play park, or down by the stream.
We drove to Longleat on 3 days, (we had bought their passport ticket). Good value for money all round.
The comments re the toilet block, showers and laundry are all echoed here, well maintained and very clean. The site was very busy when we were there so all facilities were well used, but we never had to wait long to use anything. The site shop could be a bit pricey for some stuff, but the main supermarkets were not far from the site.
I would definitely use this site again, without doubt. However being new to trailer tenting, 'the world is our lobster'!

This campsite is almost completely perfect! We had a lovely pitch (71) which backed onto the river and found the campsite quiet , clean and well resourced. The toilets and showers were modern (think motorway service station style)and cleaned to a high standard .
We tried eating at the Riverside brasserie and it was ok but a bit microwaved in a dish rather than fully cooked meals , however it was a decent stab at running a brasserie by a campsite.
The owners have obviously spent money on making the facilities above average and we would definitely stay there again. Our only gripe was that the pitches are a bit packed in , they insist on a car/caravan/awning arrangement ; our awning was only 18inches from the next car which did feel a bit close.
Overall an excellent site which is clean , quiet and has a lovely stream running through .

Visited for a weekend after reading all the great reviews. Site was as picturesque as suggested.
As for the food, what we could see of it looked very good. However on Saturday they do an eat all you can buffet starting at 6.30. We arrived at 7.20 and tried to purchase our tickets to eat to be told to wait 10 mins while they restock. We went up every 10 mins until 8.30 when we were told 'sorry, they are not restocking we have either steak or scampi on offer'. To run out of food by 7.15 on a Saturday night in the school summer holidays is not exactly what was expected.
On the plus side the toilets and shower blocks were very good, with lots of hot water and very clean.
One further word of warning though, if you do book make sure your are not on a pitch between 20 and 45 as we were, as this is all residential caravans (the big german variety) where staff and others live permanently, therefore you don't really feel like on holiday as there are no other tourers nearby to talk to.

Stayed here for a weekend at the end of July. We came from Bristol on the train, then caught the bus to the site. I had a young child in a buggy, so struggled with the walk to the park - steep path with kissing gate, and bridge with no sides (there is prob an easier way if you go via the road). As we were on foot we were right at the end of the park, nice and peaceful but annoying if you needed the loo in the middle of the night! Loos and showers were excellent. The shop was quite well stocked, but expensive compared to some campsite shops I've used before.
The restaurant was terrible. On the evening we got there I paid about £7 for a tiny portion of warmed up ricotta (which barely resembled anything edible) which was supposed to come with a bistro salad - one dirty lettuce leaf! The waitress who served us was lovely, and the location was good, shame about the cooking. We made the mistake of trying the breakfast on the Saturday, and waited for well over an hour to be served with another overpriced poor quality meal. They ran out of big sausages so served up cheap cocktail ones!
The park is in a lovely location, and everyone staying on it was polite and friendly. As long as you bring your own food you will have a lovely time!

Just back from a week at this campsite. Very nice setting in a small valley on the outskirts of Bath. The pitches are set quite close together alongside a road but we had sufficient room for a big family tent and car. Pitches are level, toilets and showers excellent . Shop at reception seems to be a small branch of Sainsbury as it sells a limited range of Sainsbury branded goods - coffee, milk etc. Unfortunately we can't recommend the Old Mill pub/restuarant on site - we were told new caterers had just taken over, seemed a bit disorganised and overpriced - took ages to serve meal although food was OK. Access to Bath by bus is easy and convenient - bus stops every 12 minutes near campsite and runs until 11pm. If you are considering bus to Bristol - a family day ticket covering the whole south west can be purchased on the bus for £15. (It costs £3 for adults and £2 return for kids to Bath from campsite) . Lots to see and do in the area, Bath, Bristol, Longleat (an easy drive from campsite), Cheddar caves. Would definitely go back to this campsite and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
