A pleasant well laid out site with modern facilities a short distance from Bath. The bus service into Bath was a big bonus (No.5) as it's a real headache trying to park in the town. Wetherspoons has an outlet in the city so you can eat cheaply. Beware, Bath attractions are at 'Rip off' prices. My only criticism would be the agricultural vehicles roaring around the made up roads at 4 - 5am. Woke just about everybody. Other than that a pleasant stay.

We visited the site for 4 nights and we were very disappointed with the size of the pitches we were given, we felt as though we were packed in like sardine's, you couldn't sit outside your awning in the nice weather as all you could see was your neighbours car. The toilets were reasonably clean and the little stream was very nice but I can't really comment on the pub as we only ever had 1 drink whilst sat outside but it seemed ok. I don't think this site is worth the 4* AA rating it has as I have been to 3* sites that were much nicer. This site is in a lovely setting and could be lovely if more thought was taking with the lay out. It is close to Bath which is worth a visit as it is very nice and also watch out for the red kites that fly over the site.

Lovely location. Site thoughtfully laid out. Very peaceful. Jump on the bus (every 10mins) into Bath or cycle along the tow path (which is a bit of an adventure in itself but our 6 year old managed it!) Childrens playpark small but adequate. Toilets and showers average. Only stayed two nights so didn't use the shop/bar or restaurant but the menu looked good! Only one small gripe really - waste water facility for motorhomes could be improved (not ideally situated as it means blocking access to toilets/utility building). Oh and some music/local radio playing in the loos would be a nice touch. Would stay here again and would have no hesitation recommending this site to family and friends.

This was our first camping trip with our children so we were a bit apprehensive when we couldn't book a pitch in the Paddock area, as the rest of the site was fully booked (the thought of driving home with 2 disappointed children.!) However, when we arrived there were no problems, the staff were friendly, and we were pitched up and enjoying our lunch within the hour! There was a lovely friendly atmosphere between all the campers on the Paddock. With no cars or electric hook-up, and the sound of the babbling stream it was spot-on! The children had a quick play in the playground, and we had a quick look in the bar and shop. There was a slight lack of atmosphere but I think this was due to the impending rain and I'm sure with the sun shining it would have felt different! The children loved paddling in the stream and played there for ages. We had a quick trip into the lovely town of Bath, which we know fairly well, but as the children just wanted to play we didn't stay too long. We passed a massive playground on the road from the site to Bath but with the rain starting we didn't stop! Hopefully next time! We had breakfast in the bar the following morning as the rain was now relentless! The service was excellent. Shower block was warm (!) and clean the whole weekend. We will definitely visit again!

We visited this site after torrential rains so it was not very busy. The tents were spaced out well so there were free pitches between campers. The site is in a beautiful setting but the hand drawn maps are quite confusing and fussy. We were pitched in the Copse field down the centre of the field. The only water taps were down this central stretch. The toilet block was down some very steep steps - definitely not suitable for disabled guests. Because the owners kept the grass cut (even during this particularly wet spell) the floors in the toilets were quite dirty, even after being cleaned. Mops are provided for the shower areas and notices asked to clean these areas after use but unfortunately many people did not seem to do this. There was not much stock in the shop and we were told they did not sell bread, which we found peculiar. As the site wasn't busy the pub was empty and lacked atmosphere. This would probably not be the case in nicer weather as it is in a lovely setting. The restaurant was closed due to staffing issues. If planning to walk the tow path or cycle route into Bath, definitely ask for a map at reception as it is quite a trek just to find these. It is at least half a mile to get to the paths and it was quite hard going with a pram as there was a lot of undergrowth, mud and puddles. We chose the cycle path which was over 2 and a half miles to Sainsbury's in the city centre. Note: The cycle path ends rather quickly but if you carry on walking past the houses and a park, you will rejoin it. Bath is well worth the visit and the free guided tours from outside the Roman Baths are marvellous. Our tour lasted over 2 hours. Wells is also beautiful, as is Glastonbury. If visiting the latter, take the Tor bus up to Glastonbury Tor (£2.00 for a day ticket) and walk back down to the town. It's not for the faint hearted. Cheddar Gorge is also spectacular.
Management Response:
Our shower and toilet which offers a high quality facility for people with disabilities is in our other toilet block where we have 4 grass pitches for tents in the immediate vicinity along with other pitches for caravans and motorhomes. This has totally level access. If anyone requires this facility, please let us know so that we can position you on one of those pitches.

Excellent site located just of cycle route 4. Excellent facilities clean at all times , showers are particularly good. Located a good distance from the main rd and railway so quiet at all times. Well equipped store and bar. There is not much close by but this is the appeal of this site, the main centre of bath is a few minutes drive away but nothing within close walking distance.

Nice site and easy to find. The two of us stayed in a tent for 3 nights before heading off down to Devon for the rest of the week. We did the walk from the campsite into town along the canal, and caught the bus back, as shown in the literature on site. Nice walk if a bit further than anticipated! Toilets, etc very clean and on-site shop useful for emergencies. Pub very nice with outdoor seating and they had a quiz on when we went which we were encouraged to join in, and had fun! Nice atmosphere.

Just back from a lovely week here. Although the pitches are rather closely packed, they are set beside a burbling stream with nesting kingfishers, heron, duck etc etc. Tents can spread out more. Could stay there all day! but beautiful Bath is just a short cycle, walk or bus ride away. The toilet blocks fully deserve their 5 star award- best we've seen! Nice bar, with food, and shop on site. Tourist Information centre there and Internet connection coming soon. Highly recommend!

After being persuaded by my friends to go camping (My first time) I drove for 3 and a half hours without stopping to this site. Upon arrival I was greeted with a very friendly lady who let me use the staff loo's as I was busting, I checked in for a very reasonable price pitched my tent up and had a very enjoyable evening in Bristol. In the morning I was greeted by very happy campers who all said "good morning" I went to the shower block and was greeted by not a very pretty site, the toilets were not very clean and I could not clean my teeth as there was hair and dirt all over the sinks. I left and decided to wait a few hours until they were cleaned. By 3 pm the toilets were better and I was able to have a very enjoyable shower and clean my teeth. Apart from the morning the showers and toilets were kept very clean. All staff went out of their way to be friendly and help-full. The shop was very overpriced though as they were selling Sainsbury's own named products. A bottle of lemonade was £1.65, I had seen it in Sainsbury's earlier in the day for 43p. On the Sunday morning my friends and I thought we would treat ourselves to a nice fried breakfast but they had run out of food!
A very picturesque site but have let themselves slip slightly.
Management Response
As noted by many of the other reviewers, we take a great pride in our toilet facilities. They are inspected several times a day and thoroughly cleaned once a day (this block is cleaned just after lunch as we find it is heavily used during the morning so it is difficult for our cleaners to gain entry). However, they are used by a great number of people and it is a pity that Tania did not inform Reception that a problem had occurred between inspections. We would then have done a quick clean to make them acceptable. Bemused by the breakfast situation as my staff tell me they have never run out of stock on Sundays. We did have a group of young ladies turn up too late one Sunday (we advertise breakfast 8.30 - 10.30 am). Perhaps Tania could e-mail me to ascertain whether this was her group. Apologies about the Lemonade - one of my staff mispriced this. My wife had already corrected the price as soon as she had noticed the error. Could I take this opportunity to explain about our membership of the Sainsbury's Village Shop Scheme. This allows us to buy items from Sainsbury's and resell them at a mark-up. The advantage of the scheme is that even though our shop is small, we are able to offer a wide range of goods as we do not have the inconvenience of having to buy wholesale quantities of each item. Obviously this means they are more expensive, but we do offer printed directions to both Sainsbury's and Asda Supermarkets - both of which are only a few minutes away from us. However, many people appreciate the convenience of finding just what they need or have forgotten without the trouble of going off-site.

I arrived at 7.20pm and the reception was closed (it closes at 6pm), which is not a problem as you can check in, in the pub on site till 11pm A very relaxing site with well spaced pitches. Very quiet despite it's proximity to a busy "A", road. Not over priced and well placed for easy access to Bath. They have access to the Kennett and Avon canal cycle path from the north of the site via the motor home section, but beware they lock the gate here at dusk so take a map in case you need to find you way back via a different route by road. They have clearly done a lot to be green, including never before seen air flush urinals to save water and a comprehensive set of dustbins for recycling. I didn't find the shower block closed when I needed it, which is often the case for those of us who like a bit of a lie in on holiday. Overall I would say that this is a good site, not over priced and well run. Happy Holidays. Steve.
