Just come back from Beechcroft which we chose due to the reviews on here and they were not wrong as it is a fabulous site.
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon which we were pleased with as there was plenty of choice of pitches, we ended in field 3 with EHU.
My OH would have preferred field 1 on 2nd thought as it is closer to the facilities- which as everyone says are great.
No queues during the week as if the ladies showers were both in use just use the unisex ones. This changed on Saturday am as the site was full and noticeably so, we prefer quieter and Sunday to Friday was lovely even though the weather was, sunny, heavy rain, windy etc.
We walked to the Queens Arms in Taddington and was good to take the dog into the restaurant area, although it took us approx 40 mins to walk.
We spent a day at Chatsworth and tickets can be booked at reception, we booked the dog into the Canine Country club - yes it made for an expensive day but a fantastic day out and one of the better weather days. The dog enjoyed a restful day as the others were spent walking the mosaic trail, monks dale all which are nearby.
We would happily return but as there are so many places we want to visit it probably won't be in the near future unfortunately.

The owners of this site are great and despite numerous changes to our booking never made us feel a nuisance. Upon arrival, you are given all the information about the site and local area. We had ehu and you paid a £5 deposit for the card and added as much on for electric as you wanted (the deposit is refunded at the end of the stay along with any unused electric - we used 80p for 2 nights running electric heater, light and charging mobiles, ipad and electric pump).
There are 3 tent fields and we chose the one at the top for the views and it is more level. Even at the top it is a short walk to the shower block, there is a bit of a steep slope but as long as you're careful you'll be OK. The site has definitely been designed with campers in mind as there is everything you could possibly need.
There is a little shop, campers cabin (with hot drinks machine and microwave which I though was genius for backpackers who have minimal equipment), ladies, gents and unisex toilets/shower block (never had to queue, immaculate and the showers were powerful and hot with free electric sockets for hairdryer etc. ), boot and cycle wash, inside washing up facilities with dryer and washing machine and freezer for your ice packs.
The goats were great for keeping the kids busy. There is CCTV on site and wardens do patrol so it feels very safe. There is a dog walking area and field. The only thing it does not have is any play equipment for the kids but as there is lot to do in the area they do not really need it. At the weekends a breakfast man comes on site selling butties (again I thought this genius as when you're having to pack to leave the last thing you have time for is doing a cooked breakfast so we did take advantage of this!).
This is the best site that we have been to and have already decided to go back next year for longer. Most sites like this would charge £25 to £30 per night - Not this one.
The owners have done a splendid job and thought of everything! Well done!

Fantastic site!
Lovely friendly owners, amazing communal areas, everything thought through very carefully and kept very clean. There are sockets for your hairdryers etc and lots of room to get changed and hang stuff in the showers.
Electric hook ups are pay as you go so you only pay for what you use. Eg we spent something like £1. 80 in 3 days as opposed to the sites that charge £5 per night.
Even the dogs had a washing area and their own playing field.
Only one or two problems, the shop I felt was quite small and didn't sell much, if that could be expanded the site would be just amazing.
Also the slope leading down to the toilets is very, very steep but I think it's just the layout of the land.
The pitches themselves are actually sloping too but to be fair we didn't really notice it once in the tent.
Just need it to become an adult only site now as we are sick and tired of camping near kids right now and are planning on boycotting family friendly sites from now on.

Stayed at Beech Croft over the half term with my 6 year old daughter. The online booking was very easy and had communication throughout, paying the deposit over the phone. When we arrived we received a very friendly welcome and had everything explained including layout of campsite and local area. The location is nothing short of spectacular and is fantastic for walking or exploring the Peak District. You are free to pitch anywhere in the tent area and there are plenty of ehu around - you only pay for electric you use and for the two of us, using electric heaters, kettle, cooker and charging phone cost me less than £6 for 5 nights!
The facilities are excellent ranging from immaculate showers and toilets which include unisex section, laundry and washing up, freezer for ice blocks, campers cabin( although we did not use), children's play area and separate dog walking area. Saving the best until last ( in my daughters opinion) were the 3 goats - Eric, ernie and baby billy! - absolute hit with the children who are free to feed and stroke them.
They are great hosts and we will definitely be going back. I can honestly say I cannot give a more stronger recommendation for this campsite.

We stayed at this site with our tent, attracted by its close proximity to the Monsal Trail and the promise of excellent facilities - and we were not at all disappointed on either front!
A warm welcome greeted us on arrival on the Friday evening with an explanation of the camping areas and the friendly 'pitch where you want as we are quiet' instruction.
The pitch has a slight slope, but nothing too problematic and we were soon set up.
The facilities were excellent - warm, clean and plentiful and there were nice added touches such as the campers' shelter with microwave and hot drinks vending machine. We didn't need the ' Breakfast Man' but it looks as if plenty use his services to save cooking and washing up!
On our final day, we were told we could stay as long as we liked, so finally packed up and dragged ourselves away at about 4pm - so lovely to have a relaxed end to the break and to feel like the last day was a much a part of the holiday. I expect this was again because the site was pretty quiet, but it was a lovely touch.
Would certainly recommend and return.

We visited this site based on the recommendations of others as well as the very fair pay-what-you-use for electricity.
It has to be the wettest two days we have spent camping! We were very unlucky with weather as it rained solidly for the two days we were there.
Apart from that this campsite is great. As it says in their information guide, they have spent over £400,000 upgrading the site and it shows. The shower block is fantastic and was always clean when we used it.
We were able to pick our own pitch and found one in the top field. All the fields have a very slight slope but you don't really notice this. It was fairly windy where we were pitched but our HiGear Voyager 6 did us proud (even with it's patches where our cat had decided to run across the tent shortly after buying!). We decided we need to buy the porch extension as it was difficult to keep the rain out of the main tent.
Although the ground was wet it was well draining and held up to the torrents of rain.
Recycling facilities are good with lots of glass recycling. Plenty of water points and of course the very useful electricity card metres. We stayed two days and used just under £3 of electricity. This was used to; boil the kettle, charge the phone, kindle and computer.
The washing up facilities were excellent and clean. There was also a washing machine (£3 token from shop) and a dryer (token from shop) neither of which we used. The campers cabin had a vending machine which sold hot drinks (70p) and had a useful OS Map of the region.
This site is ideally located for Buxton and Bakewell both of which we visited. Bakewell is lovely and has a huge car park just out of the town (£1. 90 for up to 2 hours I think). It was then an easy walk into the town and straight into the Coop where we had our parking money refunded when we spent £10. There are loads of places to eat in Bakewell so you will be spoiled for choice. We bought some chips which were reasonably tasty. Buxton is also a great town with lots of old architecture. We spent an enjoyable morning wandering round the town. The park and 'slopes' are lovely and have a great play area for children. We then went to the Pavilion Cafe for coffee and teacakes (£6. 90). Excellent service and they do a very nice breakfast and lunch menu. We then visited the sweet shop in the main street which had loads of sweets but was a little on the disappointing side with regard to overall experience. This town also has some very useful 'pound'shops if you have forgotten anything. Well worth a root around!
We also went onto the Monsal trail for a quick walk. Yet again we had to pay for parking but the money does go towards the upkeep of the toilets and other facilities. It is pricey though. There is a bike hire shop along the trail and I had a very useful chat about hiring bikes for children. The man gave me some useful information about booking and that for a day's hire for a family of four the cost would be £42. We will be going back in the summer for the bike riding!
Despite the torrential rain we had a good time at Beech Croft. Our children said they would have liked a play area, but other than that it's a great site. We hope to return in the summer for longer and hopefully warmer weather!

This campsite set in a very pleasant quiet rural location.
10 Min drive to the town of Buxton. 20 min drive to Bakewell.
Campsite was of high standard.
Would use campsite again and strongly recommend it to others.
Make sure you have a TV ariel cable to plug in to the sockets provided or you wont get any TV channels.
Most of the pitches fully service.
Small shop on site with limited stock.
Staff very helpful.
New toilet block with plenty of facilities. Very clean.

Just spent a weekend here prompted by reviews and recommendations on this site.
Wonderful site. Very clean with excellent facilities. We didn't use the laundry area but it was immaculate. Campers cabin is great - vending machine and microwave for those that need it. Our first time camping with our 3yr old daughter who loved wandering down to feed the goats.
Staff very, very welcoming and friendly. Electric hookup card really good; only used about £1 all weekend.
Good secure dog walking field
A real gem :-) cant fault anything really
We are returning soon!

Just returned from this site after staying two nights with our friends. We have previously stayed at this site and wasn't disappointed on returning. The owners and the wardens are very nice and are willing to help with any advice on where to visit and places to eat. Facilities on this site are first class, with toilet and shower block kept very clean at all times. Also a pot washing area and washing and drying machines and even a campers shelter with a microwave and drinks machine. Reception has a small shop and information section which is very handy. This site could not be placed any better for walking and cycling with the Monsal trail, paths and Pennine way close to the site. We will definitely be coming back to this site.

We have just spent a wonderful week at beechcroft farm. The booking online was completed with ease.
The campsite was found just off the main a6 about three miles south of buxton.
The site was very clean and well looked after, the views were perfect. Pitched up and then walked down to the farm reception to book in and meet the very friendly owners. There is a small shop where newspapers can be ordered. The toilet area was modern and very clean. The showers were hot with plenty of room.
There are horses, sheep, goats and chickens for the children to see.
A walk from the site down a steep gully leads down to the monsal dale trail for cycle hire and a coffee. Or by car to the car parks, payment required.
Plenty of pubs for meals which we enjoyed.
We try not to visit the same area twice but this campsite is down for another visit soon.
