We recently stayed at Beech Croft - superb! We tried to stay another night but sadly there was no room!
A very popular location. The only downfall was that you could hear the busy A6, this wasn't very loud more of a constant hum. There is quite a steep path down from the camping field to the toilet and shower block. That said you could follow the road round.
The facilities are spotless and there was always someone about cleaning up.
The staff are really friendly offering advice from local walks to the best places to eat.
We had a great stay and will definitely be back - albeit with a wind breaker or 2 as the air blows freely across the tent fields.

Brilliant site, fabulous clean heated toilet and shower area, 3 large showers in the ladies, surface and plugs area. Campers cabin with all drinks 70p, microwave, info and seating area.
Everything well organised and clear. Quite dog orientated (dog waste, dog wash, dog walk!) goats. Needs a nice play area.
Would happily go back and recommend as it was so well run.

Fantastic site! As this was our first holiday with our caravan. We were really really impressed with the place. Smashing hardstanding pitches, very helpful friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble.
Brilliant big fully enclosed dog exercise field for our 3 staffies to run around on and let off steam, and a dog poopy bin too. Fab!
The newly refurbished toilet/shower block is amazing. Lovely hot showers. The only quibble I have is, maybe a brush or squeegee mop is needed after showering to avoid your clothes getting wet when trying to get dressed.
But that's the only moan I have about the place. The views are breathtaking. We love this place, and are booked in for another week long stay in a few weeks, and we can't wait. 10/10 for everything.

We stayed here last year and tried to get in again this year but the site were always full. Shame.
When we stayed last year, we were impressed with the facilities on-site, the showers and toilet blocks were top notch, warm, clean and modern. Some of the best I have experienced.
During the day, we strolled up to the start of the Monsal Trail and hired a couple of bikes there. It was lovely and very easy for all - very flat and smooth for the bikes with some nice long tunnels which the kids loved.
I hope to make it back to this site soon.
A+

Spent a weekend at the above a few weeks ago. Cycled the Monsal Trail to Bakewell with the boys (9 & 5 yrs old) 8. 5 miles each way. They have opened the old railway tunnels which makes the route very exiting for the kids.
As for the campsite, it was just perfect. No play area for the kids, but plenty of rabbits hopping about and 3 goats too keep the interest while on the site.
Toilets and Showers the best I've seen and also a place to wash your bike or the Dog

This must surely rate as the most exceptional site for it's price & facilities. The unit that house's all the loos', showers, wash up, laundry, freezer, iron/board etc are immaculate. Water is hot, shower powerful & free! The area is heated too!
All the staff & the owners are a credit, and so so friendly, always willing to have a natter. Reception sells all the basics, with newspapers ordered the day before should you want one.
The hard standing areas for caravans & motor homes are nicely laid out in terraces. The camping area is spread over the hill & divided into 3, with EHU available in all fields.
The fields do slope, but not enough to upset the tent etc, & the path down to the facilities is steep, but you could get to them via the lane if mobility was an issue.
We pitched in the 3rd field, which gave us good shelter as there is a mature hedge that acted as a natural wind break. The grass was long but considering all the rain etc, it helped the field from becoming boggy. Any rain we had soon drained away.
From the site it's a short walk (though you do go down a steep ravine) on to the Monsail Trail. We walked it, though you can hire cycles where you join it (including electric bikes, which I would use next time)! The bus from Bakewell leaves 1 min to the hour, we just missed it, as we were too eager for a beer! And you won't go short of watering holes here! The bus stops outside the entrance & all the drivers know where you want to get off!
We also visited Chatsworth House, which was amazing.
Back on site, there is a dog walk & large field for ball games etc.
We used £2 electric over 4 nights, & I wish more sites would charge us campers this way, paying for what you use!
This site is way ahead in terms of customer service, value for money & it's facilities! 10/10, no wonder they have so many repeat customers!

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at beech croft farm, lovely quite site when we went ( sat & sun eve) no pitching rules just told to pitch where we wanted, we decided on the first field as this was closest to the toilet block, and the goats which my 5 year old is missing terribly!
The toilets and showers are of an exceptionally high standard, 2 showers in ladies and men's & 3 in the unisex block which is a great idea and the block I used each morning as no one else seemed to!
Each time we visited the loo or showers a member of staff was in cleaning, as previous reviewers have said considering the weather I don't know how they kept it so clean!
Pot washing is in a lovely indoor kitchen area which also stores the washer and drier, iron & ironing board and freezer for cool bag blocks.
Electric is supplied by cards we used just over £2 over the weekend and this inc having the cool bag on all the time, heater both nights and the usual phone charger & hair dryer but there were sockets available in the toilets to use your hair dryer etc.
Also on site was a campers cabin, came in very useful for the kids to sit in & play snakes and ladders whilst we pitched the tent in the rain, not much in the immediate area to do if you are not a walker but it is in a perfect location to do just that, big ball field for kids to use no play area but it made a nice change for the kids to entertain themselves!
Will Definitely be returning have already promised my Daughert she will get to see Eric earnie and billy again ( the goats!)

Having stayed on the site many moons ago we decided to return as the facilities were reported to have been upgraded.
We cannot fault the showers / toilets / laundry and pot-washing areas - excellent facilities and unbelievably clean; I don't know how they managed it given the horrendous weather we had whilst we were there.
The tent areas are on the brow / top of the hill so not for those who don't like an up/down hill walk to the facilities.
Great little site for exploring the Peak District - we will recommend it and I'm sure return in future.

Just got back from a weekend break at this site and I can't recommend it enough.
The toilet & shower block is the best I have ever seen on a camp site. The showers are free and the block was spotlessly clean throughout the whole weekend. The site was quite busy yet we never had to queue for any of the facilities.
As others have mentioned the tent fields are slightly sloped but we didn't find this to be an issue as we just pitched the tent and positioned the air bed so we were sleeping flat.
Also you can occasionally hear motorbikes/cars going past on the nearby road but again this was not an issue for us as it was only occasionally and not constant. Other than the road the site is very peaceful and we had a lovely relaxing break! We will definitely return at some point this year.

Everything about the site is lovely including the owners who are very friendly and helpful. The toilet and washing block is great and there is a unisex area where anyone can shower. Good idea too! My fiancee and I saved water and showered together.
I will say however that we had a couple of disappointments that to us took the shine off it a bit. 1) the site is on a slope but depending on where you are it is either mild or is more exaggerated. The caravan area is cut into the hill and there are hard standings which are flat but the tent fields are not flat. We were in the farthest field and near the hedge partition and it was quite slopey there. Anyone who has camped on any kind of ground will know what problems this gives. 2) the A6 road is about half a mile away and was quite noisy with motorbikes and cars going at 50 or 60 mph most of the time. It was a background noise that we would have preferred not to have. One of the main reasons for getting away in a tent is peace and quiet and although in general the site IS quiet the road did spoil the tranquil setting and general ambiance for us.
I think we would return though because it is a very nice site on the whole and gives a lot of opportunities to go places. The pubs in the area are super too.
We did have a lovely long weekend and the weather helped immensely.
