Brilliant located site, close to several trails for walking and cycling. We arrived on Friday night, didn't matter that we were late just pulled onto available pitch ( probably need to book in holiday season) very laid back compared to other sites booking processes! On the Saturday we drove out to nearby caves 'Devils arse' which was good fun. On saturday evening we were recommended a pub ' The Church Inn' which was a half hour walk over the Peak Trail, just right for the little ones - 4 and 6 year old. Good pub food, nice village pub. We easily got a taxi back. On the Sunday we tried another trail right on the sites doorstep which led us to walking / cycle routes along an old train track, great views and lots of different options for routes. The site itself is very clean and looks like its had recent works, the reception was friendly and gave us good advice on local attractions / directions. Cannot remember if there was a playground for kids but we were too busy on the trails etc. To worry about that. We will be coming back for sure.

We found this site an excellent base for the high peak trail to bakewell. The owners are lovely and site is very well thought out the pitches are large, we havea twin axle and had no problem siting it. The toilets and shower room was lovely and warm the showers were large and the water was hot and powerfull! If you have children which we have ask to see the Pygmy goats my daughter loved them. The owner was in the process of laying out a dog walk when we stayed which is a bonus. All in all we will definitely return if just for the amazing views out of the caravan window. Oh we stayed on a quite windy night it was howling yet with the high hedge line we didn't feel a thing.

We stayed at Beech Croft for the New Year for 5 nights. We had a lovely friendly welcome from Julie the owner, including a glass of festive wine and the offer of mince pies and chocolates. The reception includes a small shop, maps and second hand books for sale for charity.
You can choose your pitch and then report back to reception where you have pitched your van, I like this because you can choose the best pitch to suit you and your needs.
The facilities were all very clean and new, lovely under floor heating, nice strong showers, a good big tumble drier for wet clothes, and a washer available too using a token.
Bins were emptied every day, ariel point was very useful, we bought a lead while we were there too, well we did need one!
Although it was a bit wet and very windy we were safe and secure. Beautiful views too.
The Pennine Bridleway was just up the lane, which then allowed you to walk to the Monsall Trail where they have opened the tunnels, so that was a lovely walk. We had our Border Collie with us too and the local paths were great for him too!
There is no children's playground and it was a lovely quiet site.
We will definitely be going back to Beech Croft!

This was our second visit to this site and it certainly wont be our last. A lovely site with a great amenities block all heated and new, toilets with wash basins and showers. Also a unisex room with showers and privacy cubicles. Then a laundry and washing up room.
The pitches are tiered and level spread over two fields, the lower being more sheltered leading through to another field with views of the local area (all hard standing). The tent field is separate and runs parallel and across the top of the site all on even ground and with the option of electric hook up.
This site is part of a working farm and the owners are a lovely friendly couple, on our second visit the owners were away on holiday and the running of the site was left to Chris who lives on the campsite and looks after it. What a smashing chap he is, nothing is too much trouble for him, very accommodating.
There's plenty to see and do around the area with Buxton just a few minutes away and the lovely town of Bakewell in the other direction. If you like walking this part of the country is a paradise from easy ambles along the Monsal trail to serious hikes over the hills.

Stayed at this site for six nights as part of a two week camping holiday. This was the second part of our holiday.
The site itself was lovely, quiet and peaceful. We basically had all the tent pitching area to ourselves. (Perhaps due to the weather). We picked a pitch close to the toilet and shower block, Just at the start of the steep path down to the block.
The shower/toilet block was brillant, very clean and warm, you did not dread getting up in the morning and going to a cold shower block. The showers were operated by a push button and the only downside to this was you had to push the button approx every 20 seconds, only a minor point, the water was always lovely and warm. There was two showers in the female toilet block, two in the unisex and two in the males.
The washing up area again was very clean and was very handy having the washing and dryer machine after a week of camping on another site. There was a freezer for ice packs only which was fine. (We had been spoiled the previous week with the other campsite having a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and freezer!)
The weather we had been informed had taken a turn for the worst during our arrival on the Saturday and it remained like that for the 6 days we were there. High winds and heavy rain battered our tent, we had been advised to camp when we booked in on one of the more sheltered pitches but we chose to be closer to the toilet/showers. We went up to check out how much more shelter the trees would have provided and we found it was not much more than we were already experiencing.
Pubs close by were the Queens Arms (lovely coal fire), the Church Inn - we ate here a few times and the food was good. And the Anglers Rest -real good ale served here! Ate here once but the meal had just been reheated in micro.
Morrison's in Buxton is only a 15min drive.
All in all a lovely campsite and the cleanest toilet/shower block I've ever seen on some campsites.
Would love to camp here again if down that way.

We stayed for a week in October half term, 2 adults, one child and a dog in our folding camper.
The pitches on this site are great, nicely laid out and with TV, water and hook up point next to each pitch.
The toilet block is fantastic, warm and best of all, clean. Spotlessly clean at all times.
The little shop was good, we bought one of the tv cables and it's come in useful since then too.
Lots of lovely walking from the site.
We are novice campers and this was only our 2nd trip away, we've been away since and this is still the best of the 4 sites we have stayed at and we will definitely return in the future.

Lovely campsite, handy shop on site and toilet block was spotless and enjoyed under floor heating.
Great for going on walks and handy for local towns like Buxton. Electric hookups available for both tents and caravans on all pitches which was great.
Friendly owners. I would definitely recommend staying here if you fancy trip to the Peak District.
Another nice touch was the breakfast van at weekends and the fish and chip van on a Friday night.

A brief but splendid stay at Beech Croft Farm: As many other reviewers, we only have praise for the site; the location, the amenities and the extremely friendly welcome. The new eco friendly toilet block is first class with lots of free hot water and easily reached via a shortcut along a slightly downhill tarmac pathway. This is the Peak District after all so one would expect to negotiate the odd incline or two…. ! The views from the top fields are just spectacular and with over 30 hard standing pitches, a winter visit is definitely on the cards. Highly recommended.

This is our second visit to the site, this time there was four of us and two dogs,
The facilities are great,
The only issue I have as a tent camper is the grass in the top field could be cut shorter, the last time we were there we thought it may just not have been cut but it was the same this time,
The issue was we had some really heavy rain in the evenings and the field did not drain well.
Apart from this the site is great and we were amazed to see a FULL rainbow after a rather heavy shower, something all of us had never seen before, fantastic.
Will definitely return.

This site has rave reviews but I'd like to bring some perspective to the discussion. Yes, it's in pretty countryside and the toilet block is very good as it's fairly newly-built. But, the environs of the site are nothing special. You won't find clipped lawns, lovely flower beds etc. The reception building is fine but the farm complex around is a bit run down and unappealing. These are over the road from the site and aren't part of the site complex.
Our arrival was warm and friendly but we only ever saw a member of staff once in eight days and he was cutting the grass. We suffered on the first night (Bank Holiday weekend) when three separate visitor parties came together for a get-together. It lasted till about 1am and was noisy and definitely unwelcome even though site rules forbade such activity. There was no check of the site after dark I assume.
Access to the site is good for a caravan as it's about 400m from the A6. There's limited traffic noise at night but nothing too much.
The site is well-placed for touring the Peak District as we were walking every day. Dog-walking from the site is excellent as the Pennine Bridleway is just yards from the entrance.
Pitches for caravans are hardstanding and you'll need special steel pegs to erect a porch or awning. These can be bought at reception for 50p each. Each pitch is well-served with its own power and water incorporated into one unit.
This site would normally attract a 9 out of ten score in days gone by but there are dozens of sites nowadays that are as good if not better. I'm not being negative, just honest. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the site.
