Just spent a long weekend at this site. We only intended to stay for 2 nights, but liked it so much there we stayed for 4! The camping field although on a slope is a really great site and very family friendly. The facilities were very clean and adequate for the size of site and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It's location is perfect for exploring the peaks and is within walking distance of several of the main trails.
I will definitely be going back here again.

Virgin campers we chose Cottage Farm as our first site based mainly on the reviews already written here by previous happy campers. We were there with friends, also first timers, and we both have very small children. The field proved an excellent area for the children to play worry free and even the older children allowed and encouraged our two to join in. I can imagine the comments one particular teenager would’ve received from his peers had they seen him, but to his credit he joined in all the fun. The facilities were very clean and tidy, the 6-minute shower was ample for anyone to have a decent wash even hardened campers I should imagine. Although I did not personally use the shop I believe it was more than adequate. The views are simply wonderful even taking into account the busy A6 close by; the pub, although too far for us to walk to, looked inviting lit up at night. I have to mention the planes, as there is a constant stream of air traffic overhead, some local and quite a few not, if you are a plane spotter as well as a tenting anorak then this is the place for you. It proved to be the place for us and we intend to return very soon. Campers are such a friendly bunch, a big thank you to the owners and to all the other campers for making our first forage into the great outdoors a pretty wonderful experience. Of course the break in the bad weather for a perfect sunny weekend helped also. Our friends aren’t too bad either!

Have just returned from a long weekend spent at Cottage Farm. At the time of our visit there were only a few caravans on site and in the tent field (which has more of a slope than previously indicated) for a while it was only us! Adequate facilities - 3 loos for the ladies and a shower in one block and then 3 unisex showers next door. There is a small area for washing up which would probably be very busy during peak periods. The surrounding area is just glorious. Plenty of walks available and the campsite is in an ideal position for these. Buxton is not far away and neither is Bakewell. Both towns have every shop conceivable so you won't have to go short. The Site does have a small shop that stocks the essential items if required. All in all a pleasant, small campsite that will be visited by us again.

We decided to stay here Easter Bank Holiday for our first camping trip of the year :0) and were all very impressed!
First impressions of this site were really good. A small family run site with extremely well cared for and adequate amenities. The site owner was very laid back and did not have restrictions on what time we were allowed to pitch our tent, which meant we almost got an extra days break as we got there quiet early- BONUS!
The camping field proved to be the safest one we have visited yet as we have two girls aged 3 and 4 and we like to "See" what they are up to. The layout of the field enabled this as tents were only pitched around the outside so there was plenty of space for them to play safely. The site does have a gentle slope, but this was not a problem. The views were some of the best we have seen yet- a real lovely place to camp.
The site provided a good base to get into Buxton (think about 5 miles away) and other neighbouring towns. The Bridleway was practically onsite, making it a great base for walking too.
The amenities were basic, but extremely well cared for. We did have to queue for the showers one morning, but due to the tokens (30p from shop) lasting 6 minutes, we did not have to wait long. The shop was small, but had all the essentials considering the size of the site.
Overall, our stay here was brilliant. The field was good and staff were very helpful. We will be camping here again for sure and have recommended this site to friends and family who will be using it too!
Thanks Cottage Farm, see you soon :0)

Just got back from Easter break at Cottage Farm and had a fantastic time. First camping trip of the year and the weather was brilliant, although chilly at night. This site is good value and in a great spot for walking and biking. I do agree that it would be a bonus if the pub was closer as after walking around the hills the last thing you want is a hike to the pub, but the food there was really good and great value - recommend the steak pie! The farmer keeps the toilet block nice and clean and toilet paper replenished, and is very helpful if you need any info. Hook-up for every caravan/campervan pitch and we had hard-standing and grassy area for awning Would definitely recommend this site and will be back again ourselves I am sure!

A basic but pleasant tent and caravan site situated 7 miles west of Bakewell, this is an excellent spot to base yourself at for access to sights and walks in the lower peak district. The site is divided into two areas. The sheltered lower area nearest the quiet entrance is for caravans and campervans only. The upper area is a large open field of approximately 100 x 150 meters with a gentle upward slope and this area is for tents only. I could not spot any hookups in this field although the site claims to have a couple. Pitching in most positions leaves you with a relatively level ground. When wet, the surface quickly becomes sticky with mud but when dry the firm and even nature is an excellent base to pitch on. The field is at the top of a broad hill and there is little in the way of treeline. This leaves a pleasant if unspectacular view but is rather exposed and both times we have visited the site the wind has been noticeably a moderate problem with pitching and collapsing a large tent and with using gas stoves without significant wind-breaking. During the early season, if windy, it can feel remarkably cold. Wrap up warm! Toilet, shower and washing facilities are well appointed and very clean. Obviously well looked after. There is a shower in the male and female toilets and a unisex one outside. Token operated and giving 6 minutes of hot water they are good value. There is a small site shop attached to the farm complex. This provides a few basic/emergency provisions e.g milk, bacon, frozen bread, oil, a few tinned foods etc. But not enough to rely on totally. Nearest grocery shops are in Bakewell, a 10 minute car journey. The adjoining farm that owns the campsite is run by a friendly family and the surrounding fields and barns are full of sheep and horses. Lovely for the children to have a look around in (with farm staff on hand) and the owners seem happy to allow this lovely educational activity to continue. The site is in my opinion good value for money, basic but well kept and ideal for a warm weather holiday. Early season it has proven to be rather cold and windy due to its exposed position but this is not a problem if you go well equipped with warm clothes and plenty of alcohol! I would certainly revist the site.

Couldn't agree more with previous reviewers. Would like to add that the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Ideal location for walkers though a nearer pub would be welcome! We also stayed on the site last November when they are limited to just 5 vans. However, this suited us even better and the facilities being closed was no hardship at all. Will definitely be going again this winter!

This was our very first outing as novice campers and what a fantastic first choice! The setting of this site is really gorgeous and although we had to pitch the tent on a slight slope it didn't prove to be a problem. The site itself was very peaceful and there was plenty of room for ball games for the kids (although they did not seem to appreciate the wonderful views as much as we did!). My only adverse comment is that the noise from the road did disturb the peace a little but not enough to put us off going back.

We visited this site with 3 other families, we camped in the tent field, weather was a bit wet but the view from the site made up for that. This site is one of the best we have visited in Derbyshire, owners very friendly, The field though full was very spacious and we had plenty of space for the children to play. Toilet block very clean and hot water plentiful. Visit the Anglers Rest in Millers Dale for good food and friendly atmosphere. Lots of great walks from this site, and Bakewell and Buxton not too far away by car. All in all we would give this camp top marks.
