We were very impressed with this campsite, we booked for one night because Friday was fully booked, it was easily accessible with clear instructions printed out. The girl on reception was really friendly and gave instructions to pitch up wherever you like (this was Saturday, so people were leaving by then) Facilities were great; showers and toilet block were clean. Although we had left the washing up liquid in the utility room, went back and some kind soul had nabbed it.The campsite was very peaceful and didn't feel surrounded by other pitches. Campers tended to keep the middle areas free and we saw cricket, football and kite flying going on. There was also a breakfast van which was open from 7:30 in the morning on Sunday who served cooked breakfast (He also does fish and chips on a Friday!)

As it was our first 'camp out' we used the wifi, you pay the service provider directly (paypal c/c) Generally the campsite was clean, and well laid out, you could see that they had invested a lot to landscape and improve the layout. I would certainly recommend a visit, and would go again.

As with some other recent reviewers, we visited across a very wet and windy Bank Holiday weekend.

The owners have responded to the Peak National Park's tight requirements to guide their updating of the site, and have made what will mellow into a well equipped and beautiful site as these recent alterations bed in (e.G. Grass edges regrow / hedges between tent and motorhomes fields become established).

In the meantime, the site benefits from a great location, with no need to use a vehicle to set out on walks that can take you across moorland, and down into the Dales too. Add in excellent washing and drying facilities, recycling bins, a safe area for any youngsters and even a visiting fish and chip van!

The owners have made a terrific investment in the site, with hotel class shower/loo facilities

The site has been subject to significant improvement and investment which now needs to settle in. Certainly a place to revisit, but hopefully on a less windy weekend!

We found the recommendation for the Queens Head to be a little 'overegged', and decided to go further afield when we had arrived - If you intend to walk there, I'd suggest that you took a look in first while you were in the car to ensure it is where you would want to be later. You never know - you may well agree with the review rather than me when you get there!

A lovely site with brilliant new built facilities, showers/wet rooms are free (one hook and plastic seat inside),lots of loo's and power points for hair dryers or straighteners, the pot washing indoor area was immaculate with washer / dryer / iron / facilities for a small charge and a freezer to refreeze any blocks free of charge.

All the facilities have been renovated to a really high standard and are done in a very eco friendly way. The tent fields are all sloping, not too bad but all the hard standing pitches have been levelled it would be fab if they could do that to the tent field too, although it wasn't a problem.

Lots of new trees planted this will make the areas sheltered when they grow. Every pitch has hook up which you purchase cards for from the shop, sold in £1 cards and £5 but thy last ages and they refund any full cards that you don't use.

Some great walks close by and towns to visit not very far in the car, we can highly recommend the Great Panda Chinese in Buxton, fab food very reasonably priced!

This site is an absolute credit to the friendly owners who go out of their way to ensure you have a lovely stay and also make sure that the noise rule is observed, but to be fair all campers did this anyway, and they provide a shop selling all essentials and provide lots of local information and the lambs are adorable.

Despite having gale force winds and torrential rain the site drained really quickly, we will definitely be back to the fab Beech Croft Farm

We have just returned from our Easter break on the opening weekend of the 'new improved' Beech Croft Farm.

All we can say is fantastic!

The owners are very friendly and very helpful.

The new facilities are of the highest quality, well equipped and always very clean.

Water and recycling points are plenty.

The tent fields are on a slight slope but this is not a problem. They have plenty of hook up points situated around that run off a card system. This is great value at only £1 a card. £1 lasted us the whole 3 night stay.

The small site shop has the essentials you may need, brown sauce and ice lollies for us!

I will, and already have recommended this site. We will be there again in the summer.

This site is due to be revamped in the closed season and I think that is what it needs, however the owners are very nice and helpful, the pitches are quite small. Our A frame was on the border of being into the roadway and our van is only a single axle, we had to manhandle our friends van as space for manoeuvre is limited.

Toilets and showers are also due to be updated but they were always clean and plenty of loo roll. Recycling is very good and bins emptied regularly, the grass was kept quite short but clippings left so they trail into the awning or van. So we will go back but not for a while.

When we booked we were just told to find a pitch when we got there and then go and book in with them. People are right in their reviews about it being very difficult to manoeuvre the vans onto the pitches. We chose a pitch that was the best of what was available but it seems that there is no time by which you have to be off site, this meant that once we had pitched, arriving just after lunch, the majority of vans that had been on there, then left later in the day and we could have had a better pitch - very frustrating!. The television signal was non existent where we were - which was at the bottom of the three tiered caravan field. There is a camping field at the side of the caravans which I think was only for those wanting electric hook up and then further on up a driveway was the campsite - we didn't go up there but it looked busy from the road, though there was absolutely no noise from there at all.

There were adequate shower and washing facilities and it was a lovely quiet site in a lovely part of the country.

Arrived to a very friendly welcome from a small well equipped shop that's manned pretty much all the time. The site itself is over on the other side of the road up a small hill, and the camping area is a slight sloping field above the caravan area. It's got lots of space, good views, and there's no reserved pitches, but there's plenty of space and an established hedge to hide behind, I've been to sites that would easily have doubled the number of tents in this field. Noise wise there was one girl who thought the whole site wanted to listen to poor reggae which ruined our first afternoon, but noise isn't tolerated ( lots of notices saying so ) and I'm sure if we'd complained they'd have been kicked out. As it was we left it, it was only that one occasion, and justice was done the next day when she had a flat battery.

The toilets/showers are dated, but they're clean, there was never a queue, and they're being rebuilt at the end of this season.

All in all a quiet well run friendly site with good views, it's well located, the owners even give you a fact sheet detailing good local pubs with directions! The only genuine downside is that there's a small walk to the toilet block which is uphill on the way back, but it didn't bother me in the slightest. Also as the owners are over the road, if there is a problem, then they won't know about it unless you tell them.

A very pleasant site - there is a large field above and away from the caravans where tents were pitched (good views and playing area ). The caravans were sited on lower level near toilets and washroom. Our pitch had a water tap on the rear of the electric hook up - handy for topping up and watering the dog. This site has a clean toilet block, a shower in each of the mens and womens and an additional 3 showers at the rear of the building. You need a a token for the showers 30p for 6 mins purchased at the camp shop, more than enough time to wash, wash hair and condition, there is a dish washing facility within the toilet block. The shop will order newspapers and has an adequate stock of necessities. The owners are friendly but do leave you to your holiday, they are there if you need them. They gave us a magazine about the peaks and a hand typed page with lots of great walks, pubs, nearest supermarket - emergency contact numbers and a local vets (that was nice).

The location of the site is prime if you enjoy walks. Out of the gate and turn right your on the chee dale walk its lovely. Out of gate and turn left you begin to follow the monsal trail. Best to have good walking boots and sticks for some of the walks.

Out of the site and straight ahead is another lovely walk over the hill and down to the church pub in chelmorton.

Sight seeing - its a great location for site seein., the derwent resivour was about 20 min drive its where they tested the bouncing bomb for the dam busters and shot some of the film there. Its lovely for walks and picnics. 10 mins south of derwent is castleton a lovely town with great pubs and cafes and caves to explore. One cave you can sail through on a boat. There's a road which passes between the rocks (winnats road) almost feels like you are going through the hill, brings you out on the other side turn left and head for more caves (blue johns cavern) and great views. We visited matlock which has the cable cars to the top of the hill (heights of abraham) matlock has lots of shops and a river walk it almost feels like being at the seaside without the sea. A must is monsal head its off the A6 at ashford in the water near to Bakewell. Head for the top of the hill (what a site and great photos of the sunset) nice pub here with good food, they caters for dogs.

The highest point in the peaks is Kinder scout, there is just so much to see and the campsite is very central.

Great site would recommend and would love to go back.

Very friendly welcome when we checked in - lots of advice about where to find good pubs. The tent field is on a slope but not a problem when pitching our tent.

It is quite a distance from the shower block though. The ladies toilet block was very clean. 3 public sinks, one power point for hairdriers, and one shower. Also 3 showers in a separate block. 30p for a token - 6 mins of piping hot water for that.

Would recommend the Church Inn in Chelmorton - great range of food, specials changed daily. Get there before 9pm though. They had no problem with us recharging our mobile phones. Queens Arms in Tissington (about 30 mins walk, mostly uphill) was OK but a bit tired looking - again, no problems charging our mobiles.

Site is about 4 miles out of Buxton and only 5 min walk to main road to catch frequent buses. We took the bus to Bakewell and walked home via the Monsall Trail - would recommend it.

Owners are looking to update the shower block which would improve the site - although I never had to queue for anything.
