Just back after spending Spring Bank Holiday at Cottage Farm Park.
The site was very tidy and well set out, and although the toilet / shower block could do with modernising, it was very clean every time we visited it. Be warned though, if you are camping at the top end of the tent field it is a good walk to the toilets, so don't wait until you're desperate to go! Showers need tokens that are are 30p each and give you approx. 6 minutes.
The shop is actually over a quiet road from the caravan park (worth noting if you have children) and the owners seemed very helpful. Until we tripped our electricity out at about 9.30pm on the Saturday night (I put the kettle on while the heating in the van was on - doh)! We visited the shop but there was no sign of life and telephoned but got no response so had to wait until the next morning to get our juice switched back on. OK, so we had battery life, so not being able to get in touch with someone wasn't really a problem, but I thought it was a pretty poor show, and quite shocking considering it was a bank holiday weekend.
The shop sells VERY basic provisions, so don't forget your bacon etc or you will definitely have to go out in the car to get them. I think the only things we got there were chocoalate bars and a roll of kitchen towel (bought by my husband, though why, I'm not sure.). They do sell maps of local walks but didn't seem to have any free leaflets detailing any, which was surprising as you are literally on the Penine Bridleway.
The pitches are quite generously sized but don't offer a huge ampount of privacy due to the layout. The site is in a lovely location with some fab views but unfortunately it is very open, so we were battered by winds the whole weekend. We stayed in our touring caravan and my brother stayed in his tent - he only lasted 2 nights as he was beginning to wonder if he might get blown away!
It was a nice site but I doubt that we'll stay there again - our kids really missed having a play park and a bit more space to ride their bikes around. There was room to play football or rounders on the tent field but I don't know how full the field gets when it's really busy.

Arrived after the shop had closed, but just found a pitch and set up. The following morning booked in with no problems and found the owner very friendly.
Clean toilet blocks and 30p required for showers (token). However the pitch price was very reasonable per night. There is a small walk from the camping field to the shop and toilets. There are lovely views of the hills around.
All in all a great little campsite and I will be going back.

We decided to stay here at short notice following finding this site at www.Ukcampsite.Co.Uk.
We were pleasantly surprised to be booked in for one night, following a call on the Friday. What I like about this site is the flexibility they have - other sites in the area tend to be minimum / no facilities or have a 2 night minimum stay policy.
The site itself is reasonably flat, set amongst farmland and just off the A6. Despite previous reports the noise from the road is noticable but does not spoil the beautiful location in which it is set, in fact there is more noise from airplanes - the site is obviously on the approach to an airport (Manchester?) When we arrived nearly all of the pitches were taken in the upper field - they do have notices saying pitch >20 feet from other tents, but it was quite busy so this was slightly infringed (obviously people were taking advantage of the warm weekend for a last minute break). This wasnt a problem, as the site had plenty of children and couple groups and no rowdy behaviour - in fact the site was very peaceful when sunset approached.
In terms of facilities, they are basic but clean; and a couple of minute walk from the top of the upper field. The amenities block consisted of a washing up block with two sinks ajoined with a male and female toilet. The male toilet had 2 sinks, 2 'normal loos), urinals for 2 and one shower. For the price you cant grumble, but an extra shower or washbasin wouldnt go amiss. The toilets were generally clean but could benefit from an early morning clean after a night of use.
Buxton is a few minutes up the A6, as is Bakewell to the South South West ish. Buxton has everything you need if you should forget a key piece of kit, i.E. A Yeomans / Millets, plus supermarkets for those who cant go without popping into a large shop. For those non-locals Goyt Valley is worth a visit as is Buxton town itself, Monsal Dale, various caverns, Bakewell etc. The Wye valley adjacent to the A6 looks lovely.
Overall a good site would love to go back.

Very good site. Small shower room and toilet block.
Pitches are quite shallow so a large van will have to get the grass pitches at the top.We enjoyed the site and my daughter loved playing with some new friends as there is quite a bit of space around for the kids, but no play area.
Two bridleway walks are on the doorstep as well. Near to hope and all other ares of interest without being massively over commercialised. This was the first non caravan club site we have stayed on and it was enjoyable.

We decided on a short weekend get away, and were delighted with the site. The directions were easy to follow, and we set up camp with the minimum of fuss. The shop was well stocked with essentials, and the staff very helpful. We had beautiful walks into the nearby attractions, and are already planning on going back.

Just back from a weekend at this site with our 2 little ones (3 and 2). Nice, if a little basic, site with clean facilities.
The camping field was fine, the kids loved being next to a field of sheep. Plenty of room for games etc in the centre of the field.
Only one complaint which is directed more at fellow campers than the site itself. More than one dog owner allowed their animal to poo on the site without cleaning up after them. On a site where there are a number of young children playing I find this astonishingly selfish.

We have just got back from a lovely weekend here, the views are fantastic the owners go out of there way to help you, nothing it a problem to them, the toilet block and showers are very clean, the small shop is very well stocked. Bakewell is very close by its a lovely town it is kept very clean and spent a lovely evening in the sunshine down by the river while the kids where enjoying themselves feeding the ducks and pretending to catch the trout. We cant wait to go back to this site again

Just returned from a fantastic break at Cottage farm Caravan Park. On arrival we were given a choice of pitches including a hardstanding with grass but we chose one with just grass as it was easier for our trailer tent. Pitch was on a slight slope, but nothing to worry about, added to the nature of the Peak District! Had some lovely views and was really central for all the areas we wanted to visit. The Site is small, friendly and family orientated. The facilities are just enough and if you choose your times wisely there are no queueing at the toilets or showers. The toilet block houses 5 shower cubicles, one each in the gents and ladies toilets and another three in another small block. Three toilets are in the ladies as well as three sink units and an electric socket ( for use of hairdryer or straighteners! ) The gents had two toilets, two sinks and a urinal and all were kept clean and stocked up. Just along the lane was the owners farm with a fantastic little shop selling all the basics needed. The site is situated just off the main road from Bakewell to Buxton. Morrisons can be found at Buxton and you must visit the Bakewell pudding shop in Bakewell. Some fantastic walks all around the area especailly Castleton and Mam Tor. Another place to visit is the Goyt Valley just off the main road to Whaley Bridge-a beautiful setting with lots of history. Look for St. Josephs shrine set in the middle of a valley and hidden away, such a surprise to the un-knowing visitor! We will definitely visit again and stay at Cottage Farm. Thanks for a great time!

Have just returned from a week here staying for the first week of the school holidays - weather not particularly great and we did have a lot of rain! Luckily we have a large tent so plenty of room to dry out things. The camping field was very spacious - but because of the weather the field was extremely boggy and we had great fun getting on and off it in the car! The facilities were very good - considering the weather the toilets and showers were very clean, I never had to queue once for the showers (30p token for 6 minutes which is a lot of time! especially for us ladies) which was good, even though this was the beginning of the school holidays the site was not at all full. Plenty of room on the camping field for kids to play games, fly kites etc. Small shop which sold bare essentials - but it was less than 10 minutes by car into Buxton to Morrisons supermarket. The local area was very pretty and we did some lovely walks especially along the Monsal Trail. Would use this campsite again.

We're just back from 3 nights here, the CS is on a slight slope but makes for good sleeping. The toilet block is a bit of a trek away if you're at the top of the field. Brilliant views all round. The shop is very adequate for a small site with luscious bacon on sale. 30p for a 6 minute shower, no pub in walking distance though so you need a driver not drinking! Close to Buxton town, and Tideswell is a lovely little village, you need to have your pub lunches by 2:30 though. I would thoroughly recommend this site, 11 pound a nite for 2 adults and 1 child.
