Just had a lovely few days at this site. Fantastic for walkers as there were some lovely walks that start directly from the campsite. Both Buxton and Bakewell are a short drive away, but there are pubs a bit more local to the campsite however we didn't try these. The owners were incredibly friendly and were only too happy to provide information about the local area. You could find them in the shop which stocked the basics. Gorgeous views from the site, but note that as it's high up, it's a few degrees cooler than elsewhere. Bring your fleece for the alfresco evening wine!
Showers were coin operated, and were a bit basic but clean, as were the toilets. No hairdryer in the ladies.
We visited Dovedale, Bakewell (for the tarts!) Ladybower and Chatsworth - the meat from their farm shop was lovely on the bbq!
Tents are on the field slightly above the hardstanding caravans and motorhomes, and my only gripe is that the grass was really quite long, and as it rained it made for some very wet jeans.
Would go back to this site without a doubt.

Spent a very cold and snowy weekend here, but love the site. Have been using it for years. Have turned up without booking during quiet times and always had a picth. Site is an ideal location for Buxton, but far enough out to be in the countryside with a number of walks in the area.
Toilets/Showers - Always clean and there is a charge for showers but never had to queue.
Camping Field - On a slight slope but there are flat pitches available
Caravan Pitches - Hard standing and good area for awning and cars
Reception/Shop - Very small shop but sells food, drinks and camping essentials and has very friendly people running the site.
There is a local pub which is a few minutes walk (uphill) and this serves very reasonable food and good selection of drinks, has a log fire which was very welcome during our stay! Is also dog friendly.

Loved this little site, and will be going back again. Went with family and despite the site being full, the kind owners made sure we were together! 10 minutes drive from Buxton, Morrisons, and plenty of nice walks and scenery for the adventurous ones!
From memory, there was around 3 pubs, all serving food within a 15 minute walk or quick car journey.
Toilets / shower facilities were a little small, but manageable if you timed it right!
Roads can be a bit daunting, with few passing places, but don't let this worry you too much.
All in all, we had a great time and will be returning again.

Stayed here over a blustery weekend before the season really got started.
Arrived whilst the reception/shop was open and received a warm friendly welcome and was told to pick any pitch I fancied. If you have a large unit(over about 20 foot) most of the terraced hardstandings will not be deep enough for you and you will be better off asking for a pitch on the sloping grassed area (pitches 1 to 5)so you are a bit limited if you don't book first
We didn't have enough blocks with us to cope with the slope but found plenty in the hedgerow.
Only the small winter toilet block was open but the facilities were adequate and very clean. The night lighting was o.K. But not overly intrusive and we saw the brightest starry sky we've seen in ages.
If you like walking you'll be in your element with plenty of footpaths in the area and some passing within yards of the site.
We were invited into the farm barn to see the sheep and lambs and horses which made the day for our kids
Overall a nice quiet, friendly site and we will be back soon

Not too many on the site - so most people were using hardstanding pitches to park their cars. This limited where we and other later arrivals could choose to pitch up.
The site is set out well with caravan / motorhome pitches tiered. However did look as though no real care of the site in recent weeks - grass between hardstanding was long and it all looked a bit overgrown. Could be end of the season - but site was still charging peak season rates so would expect it to be well kept.
Site was fairly priced at £15 for a camper van and 2 adults - disappointed to find it was then a further 30p for a token to use showers - and to be honest showers didn't look to clean to warrant the charge.
Good location in its far enough from the main road that you dont hear the traffic - but no too far to walk up if you want to get a bus into town.
Overall what is probably normally a very good site - but showed signs on being uncared for when we stayed. Other than check in no sign of the owners at all.

Well, What can I say?
We got there and it had been raining for a week solid (August bank holiday!). We had booked a pitch with an electric hook up about 2 weeks in advance. We arrived at the site at about 7.15, checked in only to be told that someone had turned up earlier I the day and pitched without checking in - taking our pitch. The weather was so bad they did not have the heart to tell them to move the tent. I was not impressed!
However, the owner was fantastic! He got a 100m electric extension lead, crawled through trees and fences and mud to put us on the top field. Great bloke, every time we saw him he was so friendly.
It rained all of the time we were there, the field got very wet - allof the sites in teh area were the same with some closing down.
The site is excellent - really clean toilets & showers & dishwashing areas. Owner collects rubbish daily and there is recycling bins throughout the site.
Due to the awful weather we left a day early, however we will definitely return Recommended! (if it rains take wellies!)

Just returned from this site and a very nice site it was toilets were clean only draw back about the toilets was the constant running out of loo roll so be advised take your own as it doesn't get stocked up until late. Showers were good, one in each toilet block but three unisex one's round the corner. These take tokens stock up on these as shop may be shut when you return. The Waterloo pub on the top road is worth a look cheap beer and food looked good as well
No playground area for kid's not much to do for them surrounding area's are nice a couple of close walks Buxton only about six miles away with a big supermarket if one is needed.
A lovely site but now for the nitty gritty bit
Dog's are allowed but unfortunately some ungrateful owners allow there dog to mess and do not clear it up so again be advised check your pitch.
Noise levels - well I was surprised - a lot of kids but very quite at night most of the noise came from the road and the site must be on a flight path. We had trouble with our car but G&T motor spares just inside Buxton were very helpful and very very reliable (recommended by the site owner)

Spent three nights at Cottage Farm last weekend and despite the wind and rain we had a fantastic time! The campsite is small and quiet (apart from the distant rumblings of the A6 and the occasional take-off from Manchester airport!) with no clubhouse to spoil the atmosphere!
We were in a tent and had a good sized pitch, which we were able to choose for ourselves so not too close to other campers. The camping field faced out onto open countryside which was lovely to get up to each morning.
The toilet and shower block were always clean and tidy although quite basic, but that all adds to the camping adventure! There is only one shower each for men and women and a unisex one for families. I thought this might be a problem but it didn't appear to be, but maybe this was because the weather was so bad that people didn't want to get any wetter!
The site had a very friendly atmosphere and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, but only a short drive from civilisation and the supermarket in Buxton for those who need it. There aren't any play facilities for children - although during our stay the children there all seemed to be making their own fun with little difficulty! The nearest village - Taddington - is very cute and we enjoyed a fantastic Sunday roast in the Queens Arms. This was particularly appreciated after our long, strenuous but beautiful walk around the surrounding area. The pub is a proper local, cosy and chintzy, with friendly owners and they even let you take your dogs in!
All in all a nice quiet base for exploring the Peaks and we would recommend it.

I had a super few days here unwinding!
The site is in a great location, it is a couple of hundred yards from the TransPeak bus service between Nottingham and Manchester and I brought everything on my back, to the astonishment of one or two of the caravanners! Miles from any shops but the campsite shop has useful emergency stuff. It's very reasonably priced.
The tent field is a bit of a walk to the facilities, but has a great view. The facilities are fine, and clean. Tokens from the shop for shower - gives enough time.
There are lots of public footpaths in the area and in 20 minutes you can be down in Cheedale. Or you can take over an hour like I did, identifying all the wildflowers on the way down. Tideswell is a nice town and has shops and cafes. Super pasties in the shop opposite the church.
It's a site I hope to visit again and again - but I think I'll aim to go mid-week or off season again to make sure I have as peaceful a stay as I did this time.

This was a quiet friendly site and was booked at late notice, but was quite full for the second half of the half term.
Great for dog walking as there was lots of country with good views from around the top of the hills around you. (we wish we had taken our dog now)
The owners were friendly, but you go to them in their small shop, we didn't see them around otherwise.
When you get there it is not obvious what to do. We parked up somewhere and walked over the road to the shop. We then got to pick where we put our caravan.
The showers were 20p for 6 mins and there was plenty of hot water.
Flat pitches designed on a slope, plenty of space, but you could see everyone.
Some pitches aren't really suitable for an awning. We didn't bother to put ours up due to the weather.
Really Clean site.
Functional toilet block
Loads to do in the area within a 45min drive, such as Horse and Carriage Driving (Red house carriage museum in Darley Dale) , going in caves, cycling, walking, quad biking (wild park leisure) and historical sites and lovely views.
It is definitely worth researching things on the internet.
There is no nearby caravan and camping shop that's any good and we spend ages trying to find a plug for the sink!
I wouldn't recommend it for older children as there really isn't anything for them to do.
