Just had a wonderful two nights on a wonderful site, within easy reach of Buxton (15 min drive).

The Sat Nav takes you within 50 yrds of the reception entrance, which is well signposted, so easy to find, just a minute or so from the main Bakewell to Buxton A6 Road.

Reception was friendly, informative and professional, and in all honesty, once we were paid up, and shown our pitching options, we didn't see any staff, but we got the impression that they would be more than helpful, if we needed them. As we had no problems/queries, we had no need to seek them out.

The reception also doubled up as a small convenience store too.

We pitched towards the top right of the tent field(s), as it levelled out a bit more up there. Be aware that the bulk of the tent area is sloping, but there was a decent turn out for the time of year, and several large family tents all seemed to be comfortably pitched, wherever they chose. Ample EHU posts dotted all around the tent fields, all on a card meter, so even with EHU, you can still pretty much 'pitch where you want'.

There's not a lot of perimeter hedges/trees up there, so a little lacking in natural shelter, and as it was very windy when we pitched, I was pleased we had Delta's!

Excellent Toilet/Shower facilities, as per many of the previous reviews. Always clean, always nice and warm, and plenty of hot water. Never saw the slightest hint of a queue!

Seemed even more popular with caravans/campers, with the majority of the hard standing pitches occupied.

There's a ball games/playing field and dog walk field, neither of which we made use of.

There was also a visit from the Chippy Van on the Friday evening, but we never took advantage on this occasion.

We hoped for a couple of nights of peace, quiet and fresh air. We got it all!

All in all, we were well satisfied with all aspects of this site, and are currently convinced it will become a favourite/regular haunt, over the coming years, as it is but an hour from our front door, and ideal for that quick/last minute getaway! Once there, it offers us everything we need, and look for! Enough said!

Rest assured we will be back, so I'll try and report on the chippy next time

Our second camping trip and it won't be our last visit to Beech Croft Farm. A very friendly face at arrival. The shower/toilet facilities were spotless and a credit to the owners. Mens/Womens and a communal block which we used as a couple as just easier than having separate washbags! There is a hut with vending machine and details of local buses/information. Free strong wifi on site was a big plus. We pitched up in the furthest field from the shower block but its not a big site so literally a minutes walk.

It was very windy the first night and as we were in the van as had the bikes we parked at an angle to shelter us, there are hedges and all tents were standing fine the next morning but glad we had the extra shelter. We had EHU and put £5 on the card at the beginning of the weekend (I think there was a refundable deposit of £5), used it to charge up phones/Ipad, watch dvds on the portable player both nights and used a small portable heater. Upon checking out and returning the card the lady asked us for 6 pence so that she could give us £5 back! It makes miles more sense pay as you go rather than a set fee per night and our neighbouring tent commented the same.

Not far from Buxton, we took advantage of cycling in the gorgeous Peak District and stumbled on many lovely villages and Longnor where Peak Practice is filmed with a lovely tea room called Cobbles where again there were friendly faces :) After a long days cycling we just cooked & chilled out in the tent so didn't venture out to the nearby pubs, but from the reviews they aren't far so may pay them a visit when we return.

We have just spent a wonderful week at this site. Everything was well maintained, showers were clean and hot and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. The site also has very good free WIFI and an ariel socket for the TV was available at every pitch.

Even though we had bad weather there was no flooding issues and all the pitches were hard standing and very large. You do need strong pegs for awnings though as the ground is hard but they are sold in the shop which also stocked essentials and gas.

We found the monsal trail fantastic with bike hire very reasonable. The staff there were great and very helpful as we hadn't been on bikes for years.

We cant wait to visit again and will recommend to all our friends

Lovely site. Extremely clean and well managed. Toilets and showers are faultless, and have very large unisex showers if you have the need / desire to share

On arrival you are provided with details of recommended walks and pubs, complete with directions and distances. Very handy to the Pennine Bridleway and the Monsal trail which is an 8 1/2 mile disused railway track, ideal for easy cycling.

After 10pm, all is quiet and peaceful, which to us as festival goers was heaven !

Would definitely go back.

This a fabulous site! The location is excellent being in between Buxton and Bakewell and only 5 minutes from the Monsul trail. It is possible to cycle from the site to the trail, but the access is steep and if wet is a bit treacherous down to it and hard work coming back up.

The site owners and staff are lovely, welcoming and helpful. The facilities are modern and kept clean constantly. It is a very neat site and kept very tidy. One small thing is that the grass is kept quite long so when wet footwear gets soaked so wellingtons are a must!

I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

For excellent pub food and service, I recommend The Church Inn, Chelmorton, which is a short drive away or it is possible to walk over the hill, providing a fitting end to an evening.

We visited August Bank Holiday 2012 and therefore one of the busiest weekends of the year for camping. Consequently the site was very busy but pitches are well spaced and separated into smaller sub fields so that there is still plenty of space in front of pitched (plus a separate field used as a play area). Reception/shop is across a very quiet road, but a road nonetheless and therefore for the purposes of our children it was effectively detached from the site. The welcome at reception was good although having booked some 6 months prior for a party of 6 families I was disappointed that we had no designated pitches and, with certain families arriving slightly later than us, that there was no guarantee we would be on the same part of the site, let alone next to each other (that was the whole part of our booking so far in advance!). However things did work out OK in the end.

The site was clean and tidy with money clearly having been invested in the toilet/shower blocks. Even over the busy weekend only minor queues occurred and these could easily be avoided by using the unisex shower block. The views are best from the top field but this has the downside of being a bit of a trek to the facilities. With the wet weather in the preceding weeks and some night time rain the pitches did get quite muddy in places but I would still say they were pretty well draining – it was this excessive weather that was the main factor. Despite being busy there was no late night noise or rowdiness. The metered electricity worked out at just a few pence per day – much cheaper than sites which charge a fixed fee.

A van visits the site on certain days doing breakfast sandwiches and evening fish and chips; we didn’t sample anything this time but I had seen the same chap at Leek CCC a few months earlier and the food was fine. There are also a number of walks from the site and we did a walk which took us up and over the hills into a nearby village which had a pleasant pub (Church Inn I think) doing reasonably priced standard pub food. Buxton is only a few minutes drive back down the road with a Morrisons on the outskirts. We also visited Chatsworth which is not too far away.

All in all a pretty good site. Bigger and slightly more impersonal than I expected, but quiet, well ordered and with good facilities.

We recently camped at this lovely site in the Peak District. Lovely views of the Peaks all around, approximately 6 miles from Buxton & 8 from Bakewell. It was very easy to find, being just off the A6. Shower & toilet facilities were great & cleaned frequently (and free!) Very spacious & with the added bonus of the unisex facilities (individual lockable showers). We all managed to squeeze into 1 (2 adults & 2 children aged 8 & 6)whereas at other campsites it has been a squash for myself & daughter to share a shower. The toilets & showers also have underfloor heating so lovely & warm for the inevitable night time toilet trips!

There were loads of hook-ups if required. We didn't use one but that is just our personal preference as we like to get away from technology whilst camping. This is a family site which has a no noise after 10pm Policy. This was adhered to by all whilst there as apart from people talking there was no noise from the campsite after 10pm. This was lovely as we have been camping where someone had a television on virtually all night before! There is a field for ball games etc which is a good addition. There is no playground though, however our children were happy enough just running about. We no longer have a dog, but we did notice it is very well set up for dog owners with dog rings outside the toilets/showers, a boot/dog wash & a dog walk area.

There was a very slight noise from the nearby A6 but nothing major. There is a small shop combined with the Reception which is up at the Farmhouse. There is also a Camper's Cabin with a microwave which you could use after purchasing a frozen meal from the site shop. There was also a mobile fish & chip man visiting on both the Friday evening & the Sunday morning. All in all this is a brilliant site which is definitely on our list for returning too!

There were 3 families in 3 separate tents camping for 1 week starting on the bank holiday weekend. When we booked we were concerned that we could not book pitches as we wanted to be next to each other. We were assured that this would not be a problem and even though it was fully booked, we still found 2 pitches next to each other & 1 opposite. There was still plenty of open space for the children to play, so they don't stack people in, which was great.

On check in, they were very friendly, gave us lots of useful local information and all through our holiday the owners & staff were great. The facilities were very clean and warm and even though the campsite was full, we only had to wait once for 5 minutes for a shower. The unisex part was great for us as a family to shower as the cubicles are big. There is a washer, dryer & iron in the washing up building (again nice & warm), lots of bins & water points. A wooden hut with a microwave & hot drinks machine.

The prepaid card for the electric is great, we have always had electric hook up on other sites and paid quite a bit more for the priviledge. Here we put £5 on at the beginning of the week and got back £2. 60 when we left and we were running a fridge, electric kettle & charging phones etc all week. Great value.

The goats were lovely, the kids enjoyed feeding them. The ball field was a good idea and the kids liked that.

It is in an ideal location for the Peak District and would recommend the Monsal Trail & Bakewell.

Our weather was bad, heavy rain & wind, but the ground held up quite well and wasn't too boggy.

I would highly recommend this site and will definitely be back next year.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way back from Scotland. The site has obviously had a huge amount of money spent on it recently. The roads within the site are all freshly tarmacced and the toilet/shower (free) facilities would not be out of place in an expensive health club are lovely-a real treat. The site staff are friendly and helpful and the farm house (site office) over the road has leaflets and information and a few provisions for an emergency. The town of Buxton is a short car drive away with all the big supermarkets and shops you need. Countless walks are within walking distance of the site and the peaks are on your doorstep. The pitches are big enough and you can choose your own when you get there. The site is well maintained and is worth a visit if you are in the Peaks. The only thing that spoiled it was the constant rain!

Great site with excellent facilities, the showers are warm and everthing is kept immaculately clean. The washing up area is indoors and there is a washing machine and a tumble drier. The staff are extremely friendly. The prepaid card for electric is a bonus.

There is plenty of walking opportunities nearby. We walked the Monsal Trail into Bakewell and then got the bus back - bus-stop just at the top of the lane.

Liked the site so much that we booked an extra night and we plan to return again very soon.
