We hired a tourer as we are normally campers. A nice site with a grand plan! The toilets and showers are dated but spotless. The pitches are a little tight for the novice with a caravan but generally fine and level. The park has a grand plan to replace the toilet block and increase the size of pitches so when that is done it should be great. I would be more that happy to return.

The site was quiet and peaceful. The facilities were kept clean. The owners are lovely people, very friendly, and offered advice for various walks, also places to visit. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. A great base for exploring the Peak District. Plenty of walks to be had, especially for the four legged kind.

The Owners are waiting for planning permission at the moment to add more caravan pitches and tp enlarge the existing ones. Also they want to increase the amount of electric hook ups for tents, as well as a new toilet block.

My son asked to go back again in the summer. (I do too)

Went to this site with with a group of friends and 2 dogs. The site is a great site with lovely views. It has a very friendly family orientated atmosphere and great for the dogs as it has loads of space. The facilities are satisfactory and were clean; very interested to see what improvements they make when they do there planned re-vamp. The site staff are friendly and the shop has the basic essentials. It was lovely not to be given a deadline to be offsite by on our last day. Buxton is a quick car journey (there is a Morrisons on the outskirts) and is a lovely town. The nearest village Taddington is a lovely place and the Local Pub, The Queens Arms, is a 30 minute walk and is extremely friendly (and very accommodating to the dogs) and does excellent food.

Bakewell is also a nice town a bit further away from the site, but it does get very busy, especially on market days.

There are many walks, but be warned, some walks are not for the faint hearted, so strong, waterproof shoes are recommended.

The only slight negative is it wasn't as quiet at night/morning as hoped due to planes in the night and lorries early morning, but nothing to really disturb the peace too much

I have just spent the weekend at this site and I found it very relaxing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that we had our own drinking water tap on our pitch which comes in very handy with two thirsty dogs.

The site is very laid back and it made a nice change not to have to get up and pack up Sunday morning after breakfast and be on our way. We were able to stay during the day Sunday at no extra cost (which was also a pleasant surprise).

If you like walking and being out and about in the countryside then this is a perfect site. Buxton is 4 miles away and is well worth a visit.

I visited this site for just two nights, with my teenage niece. The location is semi-sheltered, on a slight slope, with lovely views all round. The caravan pitches with EHU are in the first field and the drive leads up to a large field for tents only.
In the tent field there are no marked pitches though there is a sign asking that people pitch 20 feet away from the nearest unit; however this was not adhered to and it was not enforced either. The fee of £12 a night for 2 people, a car and tent was reasonable for this great location though the facilities are a little dated.

The reception/shop is on the other side of the lane from the site itself, and it is worth noting (especially if towing a caravan) that there is no turning space by reception; we booked and paid a deposit and the confirmatory email directed us to park up on the campsite and walk over the lane to reception. The shop stocks basic fresh supplies and gas bottles are also available.

In the tent field was a drinking water tap by the entrance along with bins and bottle recycling.

Facilities are adequate though the utilities block is quite a walk from the tent field. In the ladies side there were 3 loos, 3 sinks and a shower and I assume there was something similar in the gents. There were also three separate unisex showers. Showers operate by tokens from the shop at 30p. One token gave a 6 minute shower, at a fixed and non-adjustable temperature.
The facilities block was kept clean and loo roll was regularly replenished, but the fabric of the building is looking tired and I noticed on the board outside a post saying that they have planning permission to re-build and extend the facilities block, remodel the caravan pitches so that they are larger, use some of the current tent field for caravan / EHU pitches and use a grazing field for tents.

There were lots of families on site and the atmosphere was very friendly and neighbourly indeed. There is no play area, but there was space enough in the tent field for ball games without it causing a problem. However that may mean that this is not the site for you if you don’t want children playing in your vicinity.

There is so much to see and do in this part of Derbyshire, with Buxton just 4 miles away, (good for shopping, architecture, the Opera house, Buxton museum and the Pavilion Gardens). A perennial favourite of ours, the Chestnut Centre is also a short drive away – a must for lovers of wild life especially otters! Heading down the A6 brings you to the market town of Bakewell, and the stately homes of Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. The entire area is of course fantastic for walking, wildlife and the caverns, with Poole’s cavern the nearest.

All in all this was a lovely site with a relaxed, “get away from it all” vibe, and we will certainly return next year to see how the planned improvements turn out. I just hope that the modernisation does not detract from the informal and rural character of the place.

Just had a lovely few days here, weather wasn't fantastic but made most of it( definitely need wellies!) My husband and I stayed in a tent in the top field of the site. Lovely friendly people, clean site, showers hot/wash room basic but clean. Local villages lovely and plenty of places to walk, sights fantastic! Would definitely go back, only negative we had was local airport noise (every 20 mins or so incl night!)

We went on our first camping trip of the year to this site and we enjoyed it so much that we tried to book again for last weekend but unfortunately they were fully booked.
It is a lovely, quiet, well kept site. Perfect for dog owners as there are some lovely long walks right on the doorstep. The owners were really friendly and suggested outings we may like to take.
The scenery is stunning. All in all this campsite comes highly recommended

Stayed for 2 nights, at the very top of the tent field. Beautiful area, lovely site with good views, but would be nice if they could grow some trees at the top of the field to act as a windbreak. The weather was bad on the second night and I think we acted as a windbreak for the rest of the field! Pitches were all on a slope but not too bad.

Toilet block was very basic but there was sign saying it is being renovated in the autumn. It was adequate for 2 nights, always hot water. Hot hand dryers too which made a nice change.

Friendly staff, also friendly horse that says hello to all visitors! Lots of good walks nearby, very beautiful surroundings. Will be exploring the area again I'm sure.

We visited for a long weekend that was me, my husband, 2 year old daughter and our three dogs. Lovely little site, very relaxed and friendly. It's on a working farm so you get the sounds and smells of the countryside.

All basic facilities available, electric hook ups, waste disposal and fresh water were all easily accessible throughout the site. Showers were clean and there was never a wait to use them. You do require tokens for the shower, however, which can be purchased at the site shop.
The shop itself has a small selection of essentials, although I didn't notice bread but then I wasn't in that often! There is not a great deal for the kids if you are looking for playgrounds etc, but there is plenty of space to run about, my daughter had a great time running up and down the hill next to our pitch.

Great dog walk which was easy to get to next to the site, routes are signposted as bridleways. Just pity that some dog owners don't pick up after their dogs, perhaps if poo bags were made available on site this would help as I did notice quite a bit of dog mess on the dog walk. Finally, the only small negative was that the pitches were a little neat to fit the van and an awning.

On the whole though, an enjoyable stay.

We were only at this campsite for one night as we were back packing.

The camping field was flat and not too far from the toilets. The toilets were clean and pleasant, I don't know about the showers as we didn't use them.

The owners were nice and helpful and I came away from the campsite feeling that it would be nice to go back and spend more time there.

It rained pretty hard when we were there and the ground held, no marshiness the next day. I wish the same could be said for the tent which leaked during the night and soaked me.

I don't know about the local pubs but apparently there were some - we were too exhausted to go anywhere. It is close to major footpaths and a bus route runs along the nearest road.

The campsite is in a beautiful area. I would happily go back and probably will.
