A lovely and quiet place with a lot to do in the surrounding area. A lovely welcome, will return again. The site is well laid out, but could do with widening the pitches and road as it was hard to reverse caravan into pitch. The amenities were fair, they say they will be improving the site for 2006 season.

After having received a very warm welcome, we were very pleased with our stay here. The site is very quiet and nicely spaced out. The facilities are good for a small site and the location very pleasant. We opted not to pitch in the top field (it was dark when we arrived) so had a slight slope but nothing unbearable. All in all a very nice site, and one which we will definitely visit again in the future.

This is a quiet site with a separate field for tents, with lovely views from the tent field and some of the upper caravan pitches, which is where we were, are in my opinion the best ones. When booking it is worth mentioning what size your van is because some pitches are small also say if you want to put up an awning as the difference in height between the hardstanding and the grass can vary from pitch to pitch, We had no problems and didn't need to use anything to level the van with. Do not let this put you off because this all adds to the character of the site and the owners will let you choose any pitch that is free. There is also a farm shop selling basics. The toilets and showers were basic but kept clean, one small shower in the ladies and two more showers that were unisex but when inside were private.
There are many walks in the area, the Pennine way runs right past the site and leads down to the Monsal trail. There is a bus stop on at the end of the lane which runs to Bakewell or Buxton. There is a pub within walking distance but it would mean walking by the A6. The owners have made some improvements to the site i.e night lighting and they are asking for suggestions for future plans. We liked this site and would visit site again for sure, it is basic but at only £10 per unit value for money. In my opinion, as there is no play area for children, best suited to couples or groups.

Nice site if you don't mind hearing sheep going baa all night long. A good place to stay to explore Derbyshire. Would definitely go again. Very handy having a shop. Very friendly owners. Toilets basic. We actually went to Blackpool for a day trip! A nice area with nice scenery

Nice and peaceful camp site, great for getting to both Bakewell and Buxton. We stopped here in our tent with electric hook up. There is only one flattish pitch for this the others are on a slight slope. Toilets and showers are clean and tidy. Would and have used this site again.

June 2004 I can't say there was much wrong with this site apart from the tenting field which was sloping. I purposely picked this site because I wanted a flat pitch and according to "Cades" it was flat. I wouldn't go as far as saying it spoilt our holiday because it didn't but I can't help but think that sites should be more honest when giving out information about their site to books like "Cades".

August 2004 Great campsite, we stayed there on August bank holiday and it cost us £10.50 per night! The views from our caravan was lovely. Very peaceful and clean there with lots of space. Everything you needed on site, the toilets were clean. The farm shop is very reasonable. Lots to do locally. Definately worth a visit. I would definately go back.

July 2004 Four families, including my own stayed on this site for 3 nights (10 children in total!). It was great. There was plenty of safe space for the children to play, and we didn't feel so close to other tents that we were being a nuisance. It was exactly as "Robertson" below describes. We all went home fitter after walking up and down the hill from our tents to the toilet blocks! The showers were a bit disappointing - we couldn't control the temperature, which even for me was a bit hot, and we needed tokens (purchased from the shop for 30p) to use them. Overall, though a lovely site, well looked after, and worth a visit.

July 2004 This was our first trip away in our folding camper and I don't think we could have found anything better. Having been away from camping for several years its good to know there are still some sites available that offer satisfyingly basic essentials. The site and facilities are well maintained and clean.Shop on site. The lady owner very helpful and friendly. Beautiful views and some wonderful walks on your doorstep. What more does anyone need? Did not notice the noise from A6 and although under the flight path we weren't disturbed at all. We will definitely be returning.

May 2004 A good family campsite. Well located for South Peak District. Very quiet at night and even though it was Bank holiday and the tent field was declared full by Mrs Gregory the owner, there was still plenty of space for everyone. Facilities are clean and reasonable and there is a shop onsite with good basics, maps & guides, a few toys etc, also gas supplies.
There is traffic noise from the A6, but it isn't that noticable, also plane noise but not too intrusive. Great views from the tent field, nice soft grass (but long so take your wellies!) There are walks from the site. Bakewell is quite close - lots of good cafes etc. Chatsworth also fairly close - check out the farm and adventure playground if you have kids. Overall one of the nicest we've been to - we like smaller quieter civilised sites.
