We went to Overstrand campsite and due to a misunderstanding about the booking couldn't stay. How glad we couldn't. We found this site just down the road. Sue, the manager couldn't have been more helpful. She was truly accommodating. She showed us around the facilities of which there are many as other reviews point out. It's in a quiet location and is a 'quiet' site. Please be aware that this is quite strictly adhered to so don't go if you feel you can't control yourself or your party. Will definitely come again.

'Gekko', a few entries earlier, says nearly all you need to know, but I'll put in a penny's worth:-.

What a charming site. It's off the coast road by about half a mile by road, so is nice and quiet, (apart from the birdscarers in the fields and the machinery nearby at corn harvest time) but 250yards on a public path takes you to a bus stop connecting places on the coast. Remember that Norfolk closes at 6pm though.

All the facilities have been put in/made by the owners and are quirky, but all work well and are cleaned regularly. You could spend a happy hour or two looking at all the stuff and info dotted about the place (ask the owner/handyman/circus act trainer(yes!) to show you his giant robot). The best thing for me was the boiling water on tap (but remember to put a few coins in the honesty box).

As to the area- Cromer and Sheringham are a bit manic in high season but there are vast lovely quiet beaches all along the coast. Bear in mind that there are sharp rocks under the water in some places. My foot is healing well, thanks.

A lovely campsite run by friendly owners and stocked with plenty of amenities to provide all the family with a comfortable stay. Such a nice change from the identikit holiday parks littering the Norfolk coast. Definitely no 'glamping' here, just proper, down-to-earth, camping.

Perfectly located just a half hour walk from Overstrand beach, and well served by the local No. 5 bus.

I shall be returning during the summer for sure!

Just returned home from 11 night visit. Excellent facilities, rather quirky, as previously described. Very useful kitchen with toasters, freezers, fridges, ample hot water all free to use. Very quiet, excellent for adults, 5 minutes to bus to Cromer. No shop close by but a few emergency things to buy from the fridge. No children's play facilities but as there was a family field and an adult field maybe the kids would make their own fun during school holidays. Owners very friendly, even attempted to clear the overgrown field pathway to the bus, which was greatly appreciated. Would usenthe site again if visiting the area. There were pubs a short distance away but as we like to do our own catering we never used any of them.

Pond Farm has instantly entered our top 3 campsites!

We had a very warm welcome from the owner who showed us around and gave us a choice of spots to camp, and explained the many facilities. For a small site campers are really thoughtfully provided for, and most of these extras are free. The loos and (free) showers are clean. There is a kitchen with fridges and freezers, ice pack swapping, microwaves, washing up area, internet access (very rural spot so phone signals will be poor) and local info. There are also emergency supplies for sale and for pennies you can make yourself a cuppa if you've forgotten your kettle! There's washing machines and driers, and a free air supply for pumping up your air bed.

The site is very rural and we had goldfinches and blackbirds around us and watched hares running through the adjacent field. It was peaceful and quiet and near to good walks and bike rides - pub about 15 mins walk and Cromer a 20 min to half an hour bike ride.

We loved it, would recommend it and are keen to return.

We found this campsite by chance after many of our usual ones were all booked up for the bank holiday.

A very friendly greeting on arrival, and we were show to our pitch in the small family field. Within half an hour, another family arrived with kids the same age as our son, and they all played happily and safely in the field - it was great to be able to let them go and not worry about them getting out anywhere.

We were very impressed with the facilities, including the kitchen with loads of fridge space, a huge chest freezer, two microwaves and indoor sinks for washing up. What I loved the most was the boiling water dispenser, which meant instant cups of hot tea in the mornings without waiting half an hour for our kettles to boil!

The unisex toilet and showers were great too - hot water each time and we never had to wait.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful with some lovely walks. Close to the coastal towns and lots to do!

We would love to come back soon.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights in July just before the school holidays started. As a result, we were able to stay in the family field rather than the adult's one. I definitely recommend staying in the family field if possible. It's prettier, being away from the 2 or 3 static caravans present on the site and owner's vehicles.

We had a great stay at this site and liked it a lot. It's small and definitely a bit quirky, but that was part of its appeal for us.

The fields are both quite small so you'd be pitched quite close to each other if full. Fortunately, when we stayed it was very quiet - only 3 or 4 tents in the family field and similar in the adult. The site doesn't have a website and isn't listed on the trendy websites. I think that's an advantage as it's less busy. We pitched in a corner where there were quite a few molehills and we did hear some rustling in the night. It was quite funny really, but probably not for everyone :-). I don't think other pitches had this problem though so check before pitching.

The facilities at this site were really pretty good. There were two buildings - a kitchen and a toilet/shower block. The shower block had 3 electric showers, each of which had clothes hooks and racks for your shampoo etc. There was plenty of space for your clothes and towel without them getting wet. The showers were hot if not especially powerful. The toilets were clean standard units with toilet paper that was replenished regularly. There are plenty of wash basins with mirrors and a separate laundry area off to the side. In all, there was plenty of space for getting ready in the morning.

The kitchen was fantastic. There were 2 sinks with hot water and washing up liquid provided. There was ample fridge/freezer space to use as you wanted and the fridge was stocked with goodies from chocolate and juice to burgers. There's an honesty box system in place. There were also other bits and bobs you could buy - I can't remember exactly what but I think they had disposable BBQs, batteries, ponchos, that sort of thing. There were also 2 microwaves, one of which looked like it was from the 70s when things were obviously built to last! In all, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need.

The ethos of the site seems to be geared towards upcycling and simple living. The owner lives in one of the statics and the facilities have been pulled together from older wash basins, microwaves etc. There's also a workshop, which looks like the owner's den where 'projects' happen. I loved this about the site! It wasn't trying to be glamping, but the flipside was that you weren't expected to pee into a longdrop or wash your dishes in cold water. Everything functioned as well as it does at home, just with the added bonus of 70s pink wash basins and floral patterns!

The site doesn't allow campfires (which normally rules it out for us), but you can have BBQs if raised off the ground. We used our Weber Go Anywhere and threw in a smokeless log afterwards, which worked well. Not sure we'd have gotten away with that though if the campsite was full and we had near neighbours.

It's possible to walk to Sidestrand from the campsite and from there, along the beach into Cromer. You can then walk back from Cromer along the cliffs. I'd recommend checking the tide and doing the beach bit when the tide is out. Otherwise, it's quite hard work on the pebbles.

The owner, Sue, was very friendly and helpful. Again, there was no trying to be some 'cool camping' site (although I've stayed at those too and enjoyed them). It was just genuinely a good and well-run site, somewhere you can pitch your tent and get on with your holiday with no fuss. I'd definitely stay here again if I was back in Norfolk and highly recommend it, especially as it's so reasonably priced.

Our arrival was warm and welcoming and our departure was well we didn't want to leave- nothing was too much trouble. Small inexpensive siites catering for caravans and motor home owners who have all mod cons and own sanitation are plentiful but not so for those with tents.

However Pond Farm is a real gem and the owners have really catered for this small sector who prefer smaller spaces to the large and often really expensive commercial sites just for the facilities.

There are two fields one for families and another smaller one for adults only

Accessed from a very tight bend on a narrow road with a hedge and field to the right and another through to yard to the left with the usual cluster of sheds of assorted vintage and materials you could be forgiven for thinking 'oh the usual basic farm washing up facility a lean to on a barn wall and breeze block showers'. Far from it within this quirky assortment there is a tardis or two of surprises! We chose the adult only field as it was nearer the amenities.

The well lit kitchen was very well appointed, having 3 sinks and drainer fitted units, on two sides, several fridges and upright freezers, two toasters and 2 micro waves (one which talks to you), and a price list of of available supplies to, sausages, eggs and bacon etc, There was even a hot water dispenser for making cups of tea or a hot chocolate late at night. (Ok there wasn't a gas ring or conventional oven but as our own gas stove was used anyway and I wasn't considering cooking a roast dinner it wasn't required).

Everything was spotlessly clean and should you have forgotten an essential tool re- bottle opener of corkscrew, bowl, cup, or needed an extra plate, you could purchase one for a £1 or so. Lots of local information was to hand as well. This was a far cry from the usual stainless sink and drainer on the side of a barn wall marked 'Washing up Point'

The showers are light and airy with hand held showers and ceramic shower trays, and duck boards plenty of hot water, a chair and hooks for hanging clothes. There are washing machines and driers, hairdryers, points to charge up you mobile gadgets, liquid soap and a quirky mix of floral vanity units. All warm dry and immaculately kept.

Situated 5 minutes along a footpath to the bus stop on the main road into Cromer ideal for the coastal hopper service. Lots of interesting walks and a lively village pub 30 minutes walk away. Local timetables available and information on pubs and eating out.

We used the public transport system a lot as well as walking the coastal path from Sidestrand into Cromer. Will be returning to explore the area further secure in the knowledge that Pond Farm provides such a pleasant place to stay.

Visited this site midweek while on a cycling tour of Norfolk. The site was perfect and had everything I wanted. Peace and quiet, though I was the only camper staying the night. Nice clean efficient and free showers. Nice touch was the use of the kitchen and microwave free of charge. Nice selection of goods such as food sweets and little things you can easily forget to bring with you. Located near to Overstrand which has all the facilities you could need. Would definitely use this site again.

A great campsite, two fields, one for adults only which was appreciated. It was right next to a farmyard though and we did get woken by sheep and ducks both mornings! Laid out pitches but plenty of space. Very friendly and helpful land lady.

Lovely, shower and toilet block, fully stocked with soap and hand driers. Plus paid for electric points for plugging in phone chargers.

Washing up area was a little kitchen, inside with free washing up liquid and sponges! Also hot water to make/buy tea and coffee and fridge space a plenty. A few basic groceries and snack for sale too. It was quiet when we were there so we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted on the final morning.

Off the Beaton track but easy access to surrounding villages and Norfolk coast.
