Well check in was fast and smooth although the gate code given didn't work. You are allocated your pitch and have no choice over this even though the place was half empty mid august. The pitches are rock hard so take plenty of good pegs, and some have gravel running through the middle. All facilities in our location were by courtesy of mr porta cabin. Functional is my only comment. The children's playground has probably seen its best days and was basic. Lovely location and easy access to conwy, llandudno etc is the only plus point. I'm sure this site must of been very nice in the 1980's but it appears that was the last time anything recieved a lick of paint or maintenance,

We had a lovely time at this site, our pitch was in a quiet corner and is one of a number of similar pitches throughout the site. The site as a lot of nice pathways to explore the area, it is located in an area with lovely views of the welsh mountains. The toilets are basic but are clean with cleaners on site till 10pm, if you want luxury toilets and shower blocks this is not the site for you. The site is well maintained and its main appeal is its location, a good base to explore all north Wales has to offer. It does not have a shop but if you don't mind the walk there are shops a mile away.

Just spent a second time at this site weekend off 19th July and I must say this is one off the best sites I have visited for views, size off pitch, friendly staff, helpful, well spaced out not on top off each other, great open walks, very realistic prices per night, had a few drinks on the patio outside the on site bar very polite staff, looking out over open hills, the site itself is very clean ( lost count how many times we saw 2 litter pickers walking round the site), the toilets are well spaced and plenty of them also well cleaned and dry. All in all the site is a little gem, we believe having now visited twice this season and will be returning yet again. Many thanks staff and owners conwy touring park.

We visited the site with two other family's (2 tents and a trailer tent) and the site catered very well for the three of us to pitch together.
It's a very large site so stock up well as it's a long walk to the shop!
There could have done with more showers for the size, ours were porta-showers and we often had to queue with 2 to 3 people in front at busy times, and the toilets rarely had loo paper so taking your own is a must - but you did look like you were stealing it when you walked out! But to be fair they looked like they were in the process of building more shower and toilet blocks.
The club house was nice enough but again, the size of the site it really could be a bit bigger and more central as it's a long up hill walk.
The pitch itself was very spacious and level with great shelter from the wind with a very large tree line, if a little hard and stony for tents. Electrical hook ups and running water were all very close at hand for each pitch.
Great value for money and a great location for a base while visiting Conwy and North Wales, ideal for large family groups with lots of space for the children to run about.
It definitely won't be our only visit, over the coming years we hope make regular trips as it had a great atmosphere with BBQs and long summer nights making it a great camping experience.
It's about 8 1/2 out of 10, would have been a 9 but for the toilet/showers.

We booked on this site for 2 nights. There was a VW event on, so that took up the first night. The site is sectioned into approx 5 colours - each having it's own facilities. Ours was purple, which had 61 pitches. Our facilities were: 2 men's toilets, 2 men's showers - one of which was locked. 2 ladies toilets and 2 showers, none of the locks worked so the door kept opening whilst you were showering. There wasn't any soap to wash your hands.
Someone had been sick in the washing up sink, and this remained there for the duration of our stay (24hrs). Overall the site was filthy. The facilities were too far to walk to so we can't comment on them. We left on the 2nd day, and took our washing up to a lovely site 10 miles away. We went to the reception and explained why we were leaving and were refused a refund. We certainly would never go back here.

Awsome site nice and big same the toilets need updating, cleaning and heating, couldn't always get a hot shower. Despite this we liked it and would return but would like a new toilet/shower block. The children's play area was good. We booked the day before we arrived but still got a good pitch, kids loved it. Conwy is a lovely historic town. Lots of adventures to have around the site, nice dog walks, weather was lovely too which was a big bonus. Beer garden too!

This was the second time we have visited this site and it was lovely again. Weekend after Easter and there was still a bit of snow around.
We weren't happy with the first pitch offered but the girls in the office were very helpful and offered a choice of others we could look at. Picked a great spot.
Walk to club/pub was ok - all downhill, bit strenuous on return but helps keep us fit. Lovely atmosphere in the pub, very friendly staff.
Great play area for children and fabulous views walking around the site.
Good location for visiting the area.

We have just returned back from a weekend stay in our caravan. The site is very well laid out, although it's a very large site you don't feel like you are on top of one another, the pitches are spacious. The showers are clean and there is plenty of hot water. Lots of nice walks and views within the site.
We do have one criticism, unfortunately not everyone thought that keeping their dogs on leads at all times applied to them! We have a dog and did keep him on his lead, but it's quite distressing when dogs that are not familiar come bounding up towards you.
I have to say that this has made us think twice about revisiting the otherwise, lovely site.

To start it is worth pointing out that our visit to this site began on the Easter Monday afternoon and ran for 2 nights. Furthermore it was our coldest Easter for 40 years.
This was a last minute affair as we wanted to get away from a cold easterly wind so settled for Conwy Touring Park based on location and proximity to main town, approx 2 miles from Conwy. We went in VW campervan with our bikes on so we could get about.
Booking, by telephone, was really straightforward as was finding the site and checking in procedure. First impressions were positive. It is a large site and set on a hill. We were over the top and down the other side in the Green section. The site was extremely quiet as we passed through as most of the Easter weekend traffic had left. The way the site is divided into relatively small cul-de-sacs was good. This means that there was never passing traffic and it was safe for the kids. The pitches are generous with broken stone hard standing and grassed area adjacent.
The toilet and shower blocks were close enough but were simple, not an issue as such but no plugs in any of the sinks, no hand soap and only 4 toilets make them close to basic. There was plenty of to water though.
There were further disappointments as we went to Merlin's to find it was only a bar, with no food available. The staff were friendly enough and the prices reasonable. Our intention to bike into Conwy was scuppered in talking to the staff who said there were no safe routes or footpaths leading to the town. The only route they knew of was the busy main A road. This was ruled out with a 5 year old in tow. We already knew that there was no shop on site from previous reviews, a massive opportunity missed. It transpires that everyone drives off this site for everything, not matter how small. This was a major drawback for our set up as it necessitated us packing up van awning and locking the bikes and leaving them on the pitch.
Overall it is different strokes for different folks. We are used to using a campsite as a base. Picking up basics like a newspaper, milk etc on site and exploring wider during the day by bike. Conwy Touring Park just didn't allow for this. More research by us may have ruled out this site, but it was a last minute booking. Wouldn't re-book based on this visit.

Initially booked this site as a last minute getaway for Easter, the site rang us a couple of days before and cancelled due to the weather and offered us bank holiday weekend instead (if we hadn't taken up the offer we would have lost our £30 deposit). I asked what zone we would be in and the receptionist recommended the red zone because it was new (what she failed to mention was that it was unfinished). The showers were little more than porta cabins and the toilets were not much better, no hand soap to wash your hands properly and generally very tired looking. After looking at the website I was expecting stunning views (if you class hedges as a great view you'll be fine). We were located right opposite the bins and the road was very dusty. Very disappointed with everything about this site, no shop on site, bar was miles away, electrics tripped a couple of times (first couple of times it came straight back on) Saturday night was the worst it went off twice for a long time. Site map is next to useless, the tap at the back of our caravan was little more than a trickle, we had to guess where the elsan point was, and there was nowhere to pour the dish water. All in all a huge disappointment it's just as well the surrounding areas are lovely I would never stay on this site again and would recommend anyone to give it a wide berth.
