Had a lovely stay here over the Easter weekend.
Good sized pitches and a nice relaxing atmosphere.
There were little farms animals around which the children loved.
The swimming pool was an added bonus and was also available to hire privately.
The toilet and shower facilities although old were amongst some of the cleanest I have ever seen. These are due for replacement which will make this site top notch.
Will be returning soon.

We were booked into the 'Orchards' section which was for tourers, we had the electric and water just behind our tourer which was good.
The toilets were plentiful which is handy and well stocked but the showers were way too hot for children, my son would just shower after he went swimming which we did daily and had the pool (£2 per person) to ourselves which was lovely and warm. Due to the dangerously hot showers I am downgrading the child friendliness rating to 8/10
Be aware the chickens go everywhere, under the caravan and into the awning most days and would eat the puppy food before we learned to feed him in the caravan but it was lovely to watch.
The layout of the trees are wonderful and hide how many caravans / tents are really there and they were all in bloom - if anyone wants pics, I will happily email them to you.
The on-site shop is handy for the things we always seem to forget. Sweets are also sold.
The demolition work going on was the only real downside as it often went on from early morning until after 7pm. But this won't be permanent.
There's a field behind the campsite which they said we could use to walk our dog. Great for dog walkers! There is one pub in Cotgrave called Manvers Arms (I think) which allows dog in the pub as they don't serve food.
The Shepherds pub is across the road and does carvery for £3.69 or 2 courses for £5.50 You can't beat that!
Cotgrave Country park and canal are within walking distance but there were loads of midges by the canal. On one day they also descended on the whole campsite but that's camping!
All in all - we had a wonderful time and recharged our souls which is what we wanted.

Having just returned from a 3 night stay here with my wife and 2 children (3 & 6), we found this site to be excellent. On arrival discovered a problem with my electric lead and Simon (the owner) went out of his way to help resolve the issue. Good sized pitches, and a very good sized grassed area for children to play ball games in addition to a big play area and indoor swimming pool.
Showers and toilets were dated but adequate, showers 20p for 3 minutes. Wasn't keen on this idea at first but actually it seemed longer than that and was plenty of time to get showered. Never had to queue and showers were always hot. The site has big plans for improvement, including state of the art shower and toilet blocks (April 2012) cafe and games room which will make this an even better experience to visit.
With regard to the surrounding area, pub/restaurant just across the road, sainsbury's local in the village (approx 2 mins drive) and Morrisons supermarket approx 5/10 mins drive away. Will definitely return.

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing few days at this smashing site. We went with our children (2 boys aged 7 and 10) and are friends with 3 children (aged 6 and 2).
The pitches are really generous, grassy, level and well spaced. We didn't have any rain while we were there so can't comment on drainage. We had requested pitches near the play area and we were given T11 and 98 which were both enormous and brilliant for being able to keep the kids in view. We have an Outwell Vermont L and our friends have an Idaho XL and there was plenty of room for us both and a gazebo.
The play area is great with swings and a wooden 'assault Course' bit which all the kids loved. The owners lock the play area at about 9pm and then reopen it at about 9 in the morning which is great if you are camped right next door to it.
The owners are carrying out the building work mentioned in the previous reviews at the moment so there was a digger there while we were there but this was not too noisy and great entertainment for the kids!
The loo blocks do need updating but as this is clearly happening I won't comment further. They were perfectly clean and you get a lot of hot water for 20p - more than enough for a nice shower.
The little shop is good for basics and sweets but we stocked up at the nearby Morrisons for more food. The chickens are hilarious and very friendly - all the children ( and adults) loved them.
There is a well enforced quiet time of 10.30pm and we did not hear any noise after this.
The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and we were given an information pack about local amenities and places to visit as well as a handy recycling bag.
We visited the lovely Cotgrave country park with the kids but only saw a fraction of it - there are great cycling paths along the canal and we would love to have had the time to explore further.
We had never visited this area before and we would definitely go back. This is a really lovely, family friendly, happy site and with the new facilities in place next year it will be a gem. We would love to return next year.

Had another long weekend here last weekend - must be seventh or eighth time that we have been since acquiring our caravan, three years ago. Given a nice pitch overlooking the upper tent field (empty, so view right across the fields). Found that the old stable block has been demolished; it is to be a new toilet/shower block. This is not before time as the existing facilities are cold and poorly kept. The new block is expected to be constructed over the Autumn/winter of 2011/2012. Then the existing toilet block is to be flattened (hooray!) and a new reception, shop and coffee shop is to be built on that site. The coffee shop will be welcome and should do well.
Prices have gone up a bit this year - but I guess the new blocks need to be funded.
Still a lot of clearly residential units on site, as well as many seasonal ones. Some were being opened up over the weekend that we were there.
Site is very handy to get to Nottingham - up to 5 buses an hour now - forget the car! Holmepierpoint Water Sports Centre close by, Cotgrave Country Park nearly across the road. And don't forget The Shepherds pub just round the corner - a Crown carvery - £3.69 for a plate full!
Cotgrave village has a selection of small shops, including a Sainsbury's Local, and a very pleasant cafe opposite. Also a couple more pubs - one of which serves meals. Also nearest decent site to the Great Central Railway at Loughborough and Ruddington, if you're into steam trains.
The site has a small children's play area. Family units seem to be sited close to it, with couples in the main field. There are many hard standings and even more hook-ups. The family pets - a Border Terrier called Pickles, a cat and numerous chickens roam the site. There is a noise curfew between 22:30hrs and 07:30 which is helpful, although I've never known it to be abused - nor enforced!
All in all this is a very convenient site, with good connections, close to a good family pub. When the building plans are completed it will be even better. We shall certainly keep coming two or three times a year.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this site. We went with friends and were able to pitch together in a corner of the field. Plenty of room although no real privacy at all so a windbreak is a good idea.
The site itself is really cute if a little basic - lots of nosy chickens that come and inspect your BBQ and a good playground for the kids. The toilet and shower block are a little rustic but really they are fine.
Didn't find an awful lot to do within walking distance but then we didn't choose this site for the area as it was more a trial run for our 1st time camper friends.
I'd happily go back.

On 1st inspection the site is lovely, we were given a map of where our pitch was and off we were expected to go!
The toilet blocks were old, cold and full of midges/flies, there was never any toilet roll and its 20p to use the showers. With 2 toddlers they were too hot so found ourselves using the disabled showers where you can set the temp.
The camp site is full of hen/chicken poo which can be too much when your surrounded by flies esp when it got too 6-7pm when they were all inside our caravan clinging to curtains and cushions. Bleughhhhhhh.
The park was good but overtaken with older kids running about like madmen.
The heated pool was cold, it took us 20mins to get in a used to the temp, we did consider getting out but my kids were so disappointed.
The noise curfew was kept and we did get a peaceful nights.
The best thing that we got from our stay were the friends my kids made whilst on camp!

Arrived to a warm welcome and a welcome pack (lots of good info and see-through bag for recyclables)from the site owner. First impressions were good. Hardstanding pitches were nice and large, good screening of trees and shrubs made for lots of sightings of small birds from the caravan.
The site is undergoing major building work (new toilet block)so Sunday morning saw a digger arrive on the site bringing all the noise accompanying it. This work can only be a good thing for the site, the toilet and shower block although thoroughly clean are tired looking and unheated. My husband's biggest beef being that his feet got extremely cold standing on the tiled floor for his shower (he is a southern softy though!)
My beef would be that there are quite a few residential caravans on the site, which can make the site look slightly shoddy. Indeed in the middle of the site, screened off from the rest of the park, is a double row of stored caravans, those nearest the front, so more noticeable, are in need of a good clean.
All in all a good site, the owners are hard working and very approachable, and we would and will come back again.

Stayed for a couple of nights at the end of October while visiting Twinlakes Park in a hired motorhome. We arrived late but an envelope with directions to our pitch was left for me which I found easily. We were out most of the time so didn't spend much time on site, and it was raining, but the kids still managed to enjoy the playground a ittle - wooden log assault course type, and following the chickens around. Our EHU had tripped out but after a quick call someone was out within minutes to fix. The following day I needed to borrow a propane spanner and the staff were very keen to help. Facilities were adequate, not heated, in converted outbuildings, quarry tiled floor, showers were 20p but I easily managed to shower me and my lad with time to spare for 40p. It's a bit annoying having to feed the meter but they were good and plenty of space in the cubicles for a family.
Overall a great site, friendly staff, ok facilities an I'd hve no problems staying there again if I'm in the area.

Stayed over for 2 nights next to a permanent 5th wheel trailer who left early for work each morning, noisy airfield nearby and shooting range or farmers shooting, nearby.
However nicely laid out site, a long walk to the toilets and showers, no sign of upgrading yet, didn't try pool as showers were a put off.Sorry about my review, but I place a lot on good clean modern showers and toilets.
Nearby pub and grub with cheap meals and camp shop.
A well used site mainly for tents and caravans as water taps were push type with no way of connecting to fill up water tanks and no gray water disposal
