Just returned from an enjoyable two night stay. All pitches good size & flat, in very well maintained grounds. Nice to have caravans and tents mixed together. Staff all friendly and helpful. Site shop well-stocked with variety of things. In the area I camped I'm pleased to say everybody obeid the 22. 30 curfew on noise - (appreciated when you have a 4yr old that believes the day starts at 05. 30).
Current wash, toilet, laundry, and pot wash old but functional with plenty of hot water. No queues. New block is being built. We don't do electric hook up so I'm always delighted when there is an on-site freezer you can access freely to rotate your freezer blocks.
My four-year-old enjoyed the playground and swimming pool. Would be really nice if poolside shower was a private cubicle to enable a full wash, rather than a 'swimming costume wash'.
Plenty to do in the immediate local area & further afield. We had a nice good value pub meal at the Goose at Gamston. Welcome pack provides useful information. We spent one afternoon at the National watersports Centre and were lucky enough to see the GB team practicing. We also cycled the 3 miles round the rowing lake.

Excellent camp site within 30/45 minutes drive from home (depending on traffic) convenient for a Friday to Sunday weekend break. This was our second visit so we knew which pitches we liked so were able to select our pitches in advance for a party of three caravans to be pitched together. There was plenty of room between caravans and on the two main fields caravans/tents are pitched around the edges leaving the centre for children and even adults to play ball games.
There is a small indoor pool open at various times and a small play area.
The Shepherds Pub is a short walk across the road from the camp site and serves excellent food at reasonable prices.
There are plenty of walks in the area and a nice walk along the canal. Holme Pierrepoiint Water Sports Centre and park is within ten minutes drive from the camp site.
The only thing that lets this camp side down is the toilet block which is old and outdated. There is a new toilet block in construction but unfortunately work has been suspended on this project for the time being due to lack of funds. Once this is complete then it will be a a much needed improvement to the site.
Even though the toilet facilities are not up to scratch I would recommend this site and will certainly return in the future for a weekend break.

Had one night here sunday gone was amazing from the welcome pack and the chickens and cockerels running about and crowing.
Very clean and well maintained grass and caravan park.
A short walk found the local pub
Which was very well enjoyed.
In the dusk there was amble wildlife from buzzards up above also a few rabbits running about to mini hedgerow birds also in the dark of the night a screesh from a owl ???
Good literature and information on future developments
Well done to simon and polly
We will be back again soon

We have just returned from 5 days and 4 nights at Thorntons Holt. We visited from Wednesday to Sunday during the Easter holidays. The weather was mainly dry with just one wet morning. The site was quite quiet, I guess as it was the start of the season. But there were a few caravans and motorhomes and more arrived for the weekend. All sites are flat and there are plenty of EHUs with a few non EHU pitches too.
The site has lots of good facilities including a good sized children’s play area, a shop, a large toilet block and an indoor heated swimming pool. As the site was quiet, it’s hard to comment on how the facilities would have coped if busier, but in my opinion I would anticipate that they would all be fine. There were plenty of toilets in the ladies and the shower cubicles were a good size with plenty of room to put clothes and toiletries. There was hot water and charging 20p for 3 minutes helps to avoid queues in busy periods! The new toilet block is still being worked on.
My boys aged 6 and 9 enjoyed the pool and the play area. They probably would have spent more time on the play area had the site been busier, i. E. If there had been more children around. They also enjoyed looking at the chickens wondering round the site, although the chickens mainly stuck to the reception areas.
Cotgrave and Radcliffe-on-Trent are just a short drive away where you can find small supermarkets and takeaway food. Radcliffe has much more than Cotgrave, and it is only a bit further away. We got fish and chips from Radcliffe which were lovely and the staff were really polite!
There’s lots to do in the surrounding areas and the site provides a comprehensive guide on arrival. We enjoyed our stay and are hoping to visit again with friends later in the year as it's in a good accessible location for us.

Not long returned from an overnight stay here, which was fine just not dandy. The site for us was adequate although still on the basic side.
Plots are generous surrounded by lots of greenery with room for the children to play. Wash areas although clean are becoming a bit tired. Personally I don't like being charged for a shower.
Swimming pool not open we when stayed so unable to comment. Hens roaming around the site are a nice touch. Not very helpful, given the rural location of the site that their shop doesn't open until 10am.
A good site for a stop-over yet for us probably not one for a 'holiday' destination.

In spite of the wet and windy weather we spent four pleasant days on this attractive site run by a very enthusiastic and hardworking team. The new toilet block will be splendid when completed despite the lack of support from the bank. The animals are very well looked after and the hens produce delicious eggs. Surrounding area is very rural but Nottingham and Derby are easily accessible. Cotgrave is a friendly little town with good facilities. Well done Simon and Pollyana and crew not forgetting little Freddie Whippet.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thornton's Holt in September last year. This was our first visit but will most definitely return, we regularly visit family in Nottingham and the bus service is very convenient.
There is a carvery across the road which is excellent and very popular!
The staff are welcoming and very dog friendly! Our terrier, Lilly loved all the fuss she received!
We enjoyed watching the farm animals pottering around.
The facilities are kept very clean, even when the site is very busy which is impressive. Showers are 20p for 3 minutes and are lovely and hot. The new building looks great, we are told it will be a new washroom, it will be huge!
We booked a grass pitch with electric hook up which was generous in size and it was nice to be mixed in with tents as well as other caravans, an interesting mix of people to chat with.
We found the shop on site very useful for the essentials, and it sells the eggs from the resident hens!
We were happy with the price and had a great stay.

This is a really lovely site the staff are very friendly. It was a lovely long week end break for me and very relaxing. The showers were 20p but lasted for ample time. And new showers toilets are being built now. Its a great site and will be back. Its great for visiting Nottingham and the surrounding area. I went to grantham which was a lovely town. Also in nottingham are the caves beneath the town which were brilliant

What a fantastic site, Very welcoming friendly staff. Dated facilities but have new ones under construction. Indoor pool which must be booked 24hrs in advance and was fully booked until the Sunday morning so if you want to swim you need to wait for the shop (which sells everything) to open and hopefully it won't be fully booked up, probably best to book before you come. Nice park the the kids. Will come again and have recommended to friends.
