This is a very nice well-kept site,
The shower/toilets were very clean. In the ladies there are 8 toilets and 5 extra-large showers with a hand basin in each one, the showers were operated with the push button but after saying that you only needed to press once for a normal shower and twice for hair washing etc, these are also fully heated and there was also music playing.
There is also a family and a disable shower room as well.
There is a small shop for basic things.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
There is a charge for the indoor pool but we didn't use this.
There is a small cafe but it was only open Friday to Sunday.
There is plenty of wild life around, squirrels, very friendly chickens wander freely and the occasional horse (With the owner)
I would highly recommend this site if you are looking for a site near Nottingham, Melton Mowbray or surrounding areas.
Please note this site is on a main road and the small airport is nearby, so at the weekend these is a lot of small planes flying around.
We were pitched on the orchard area not near the main road.

Such friendly staff in all areas. Really clean and very quiet site.
We booked the pool for an hour with the kids and it was great.
Security measures were very reassuring too.
Can’t forget to mention the friendly chickens!

We live on Nottingham and wanted a short camping getaway with our children (3y & 1y).
The booking process by phone was easy. On arrival the site was easy to find and staff were very welcoming.
Our pitch was in the field nearest the road which was very noisy with lorries going by until late into the night which meant no one got much sleep. We also found the site noisy in the day between road noise and a lot of air traffic.
The site is very well equipped, the toilets, showers and wash up facilities were always spotless.
The children's play area was very nice and kept my 3 year old entertained for a while. There are plenty of open areas for children to run around and it felt very safe for them.
We booked to use the pool. I felt £20 for a session was expensive when all other sites I have stayed on with a pool is included in your site fee. It was advertised as heated which seemed misleading as the indoor pool area was heated but the pool didn't feel like it was and certainly not suitable for very small children under 1. My 13 month old was turning blue after 10 minutes. I'm sure it is fine for older children.
The site is nicely landscaped and clearly well tended to. It was just too noisy. In future I would request to stay in the rear field furthest away from the road in the hope of getting some sleep.

Nice site but found it a bit noisy lots of familys so great for kids
Toilet and shower block clean and tidy but had a problem with the drains while we were there (constant smell).
Handy for the bus to town about a 5 min walk.
Watch out for the chickens especially if you have a tent.

A pleasant stay. Although near main roads, and the airport, the site was surprisingly quiet and we slept well.
Facilities were very good. More water points would have been appreciated.
We did not like having to manually open the entrance gate each time.
At the end of our stay the site was very busy with many tentcampers with children, for which this site is ideal.
The local bus runs every 20 minutes, including the evenings so it is ideal to visit the city of Nottingham.

Thornton's Holt is ideally situated close to Radcliffe on Trent and walks along the canal,
Peaceful with traffic noise too far away to be annoying,
Chickens wandering around, safe for children,
Would go back again.
