This used to be a wonderful site. And now it is even better!
We have just returned from a week's stay at FForest Fields, fortunately enjoying lovely weather. It is not necessary to list all the facilities - they have all been favourably reviewed in many other entries. All I would say is that I cannot think of a single thing that could be added to what is currently provided by the owners. Add to that the wonderful location, views and walks, and it all adds up to Utopia.
We were (un)fortunately able to take advantage of the special OAP offer, but even the full price offers excellent value these days.
Well done and thanks to Katie, George and everyone else for an extremely well-presented site which enabled us to have a lovely break.

What a gem! We are seasoned campers but were on our second weekend trip in our new motorhome. We went to this site after searching UKCampsite.co.uk and reading the reviews. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. I can't make any negative comments, it's well laid out with spacious pitches, the facilities are second to none, the woodland and farm walks are beautiful and the honesty box system for payment of site fees and provisions is such a refreshing approach from owners who are clearly welcoming and respectful of visitors (unlike some sites where you're made to feel like you're trespassing!). This site has gone to the top of my favourites list and I can't wait for our next visit

Amazing site! Wonderful location, marvellous facilities and lovely owners. I am a bit fussy and I cannot fault this site.
Superb loos and showers (free/push button), couple family rooms, laundry, drying room, pot washing area and campers kitchen with fridges, micro, kettle, freezers, mobile phone chargers etc. All heated and spotlessly clean.
Wifi in reception/camper kitchen area. O2 signal patchy but Orange signal was good.
Very handy shop with all camping basics, food, BBQ provisions etc.
Delightful walks around campsite and the lovely lake. We didn't hire a kayak but chilled on the dock admiring the dragon flies and a myriad of other wildlife.
It rained and the wind blew but it didn't matter as there are super paths/roads all around the site and even the heated facilities block has a canopy walkway to shelter you from the rain. This is as close to all-weather camping you can get without losing the charm of camping!
If you want a traditional family friendly campsite with super facilities then you will not go wrong at Fforest Fields.

This was our 2nd visit, the first was in 2010 under canvas. Facilities were unrecognisable, from then, and absolutely brilliant. We had a quiet pitch and had a lovely 2 nights with lots of sun. First class site, co-op 5 miles away, I only went there for ice lollys and more wine! I feel I should give the site bad reviews, just to keep it for myself, but hey, there's plenty of room and lovely small lakeside walks. David Bellamy award for 2012/2013 well deserved. Watched daily hunt of the local buzzard, saw red kites and moorhens with chicks on lake. Came away well chilled and will definitely go back and recommend to our friends.

This is a truly lovely site. The facilities are very clean and warm (you could easily sleep in the loos on a cold night), the owners very friendly, the site well laid out and the bacon from the little on-site shop is among the best I have tasted. Fantastic walks direct from the site in several directions, many uphill but well worth the climb for the far reaching views. We explored on foot with the dog, got some wonderful photographs (including a red kite which made several sorties over the site) and enjoyed the peaceful and relaxed feel of the area. There is a small stream running through which the other campers' children seemed to be enjoying and a very pretty lake to walk around.

We have just got back home after spending 3 nights at Fforest Fields.
I cannot express how wonderful this site is. We both needed to relax for a few days and this site is perfect for that. The site is beautifully laid out, with the owners continuously working to keep the site and facilities clean and tidy.
The facilities are exceptionally clean with a lot of thought gone into what campers need while visiting.
Well done to all who work so hard to keep this site so beautiful!
We will definitely be returning, and hopefully soon!
The only downside and it is really minor, is that there could be a bigger name sign at the entrance, as we nearly missed it!

Another fabulous stay at Fforest Fields for half term!
We were there for the whole week and it was definitely very busy for both weekends with a lot of noisy kids running around (my 5 year old being one of them, so I am not complaining).
Don't need to speak about the showers and loos - I would just be repeating what others have said.
If there is any better recommendation, I have already booked for next year.
If you are not sure about going, you really should - you WILL enjoy it.

We have just returned from a four night stay at this fantastic site. It was our first time here but will certainly not be our last. Where do I start, well we have a five year old son who thoroughly enjoyed himself. From being able to safely cycle around the site, to being able to look for tadpoles in the ponds to being able to experience kayaking on the amazing lake.
The views are beautiful, the walks are varied.
The pitches are a good size, extremely well maintained site. The toilets etc are excellent and clean. The staff are extremely helpful and to be honest the nicest hosts I've come across.
Whilst there we had a walk to the local pub across the land which was about a mile The food was fine, but sensible footwear is a must for the walk.
We were at the site during the half term and it was busy however not all the pitches were used as I believe that the owners do not like to fill up the site. Which is great. We didn't leave until the Monday and experienced the site 'off peak'. Extremely peaceful and idyllic.
We saw numerous para gliders coming down from the high hill overlooking the site. In fact we had a walk to the top of the hill. Not for the faint hearted however it was worth it for the view. Great walks for the dogs. Highly recommended and the best site that we have been to.

Having not been to Fforest Fields for four or five years, I have now been two years on the trot. Why? I was taking friends who have never camped before and I wanted them to have a very positive experience.
They did and are now eager to camp again.
I won’t bother giving details of facilities, etc. As I and others have done so in previous reviews. I would, however, like to emphasise what a haven of tranquillity this campsite is. It is in a remote location and is designed to encourage wildlife – the dawn chorus was glorious (it didn’t wake me up – it’s just that I’m at an age where I often don’t get through the night without a trip to the little boys’ room!). But also it seems to attract very considerate campers; kids played happily, people went about their own business and yet the peace of the beautiful, natural surroundings was never disturbed (with the exception of a couple of car alarms, it has to be noted).
In some respects Fforest Fields seems to have a similar ideal to Butlins and Pontins (stay with me here!) in that you really don’t need to leave the campsite to have a thoroughly enjoyable, fulfilling and varied holiday; there is so much for all members of the family to do there! I strongly recommend taking some of the well-marked and mapped walks around the area. One took us to lunch at The Hundred House Inn – real ale good, food somewhat bland for my palate.
I met campers who return to Fforest Fields year after year and I can well understand why. I may just end up doing so myself. There is the beautiful countryside coupled with the comfort of first-rate facilities flavoured by a wonderful atmosphere.
People who would like to know how to run a campsite, and many who think they already do, should stay a few days at Fforest Fields to see how it should be done.

The first impression as you approach this campsite is of its location, although there are nearby towns it feels very much isolated, in a valley surrounded by hills, beautiful and tranquil.
This impression is maintained when you reach the site. It is very attractive, with the stream running through the middle, several wooden bridges cross the stream which runs through small ponds on the site. Then there are the fishing and boating lakes, the bird life on and around the site, and lots of sheep all around. The site is well laid out, with trees for protection and screening, which suggests that there are far fewer pitches than there really are.
The facilities block is superb. The spacious hot showers, toilets and wash room area are kept spotless, and the block is heated. There is a drying room, washing up room with several sinks, the information room with 2 fridges and 2 freezers for campers use, microwave, and kettle. The lockable boxes for giving your mobile phone a free charge are typical of the thoughtful touches all around this site.
The shop stocks a limited range of essentials, and we tried the local bacon which was superb. The honesty box system for paying when no-one is staffing the shop goes a long way to suggesting what sort of site this is. We saw the owner walking the site in the morning and evenings, checking everything was alright.
The nearest supermarket that we found was in Builth Wells about 5 miles away.
It is a good site to visit if you enjoy walking, and the walks start from the door of your tent. With everything from a gentle stroll around the boating lake after dinner, to exploring the surrounding hills and enjoying the views from the top.
There was a good mix of units when we were there: tents, caravans and motorhomes. Our visit included a bank holiday when it was quite busy, and unfortunately our neighbours enjoyed sitting around a camp fire until the early hours – why do a minority of people think that a piece of fabric a few metres away will block all sound from entering a tent, after they've had a drink? But once the bank holiday was over it was very tranquil.
Overall a superb and well run site in a beautiful part of Wales, and we hope to return soon.
