Probably the best site we've been to so far. We were given the biggest pitch on the site so had plenty of room for our awning and privacy as well. Immaculate shower blocks and facilities, constantly kept clean and the laundrette also. The owners were pleasant, polite and very helpful. Nothing was a problem for them. There is an honesty box in the reception area where you can take food from a fridge and place money into the honesty box. I believe you can also hire ariels and bbq's from the owners. The site itself set inside farm land with wonderful scenic views of the mountains and hills. There's a cute little brook that runs through the camp site with lots of little bridges over to cross to the other side, depending on where you're pitched. Just a short drive to the town where there are shops, pubs etc We ordered a taxi to take us into the town one night and we went to a restaurant which was all very reasonable. I hope to return to this site in the future.

Fforest Fields is a lovely peaceful site with stunning views. The pitches are level and well spaced, there's a good range of pitches to suit everyone whether in a tent or a caravan. The owners are very trusting and let you choose your own pitch and if they're not around you can leave your payment in the post box. Although the owners can be seen around the site at many times during the day or can be contacted via the phone at the reception area. The family are very friendly. The toilet / shower block is quite dated and although the site wasn't terribly busy they were a bit dirty and smelly at times. There's only 3 showers so you either have to queue or shower at a different time of the day. They are a bit cramped too, especially if you are showering with a child but have lovely hot water. There is also good washing up facilities with 2 washing and drying machines for clothes at a reasonable cost. The fridge in the reception area contains a good stock of milk, yoghurts, bacon, eggs, orange juice and water and is a fab idea. They also have a supply of fresh locally baked bread delivered everyday. A further fridge and freezer are provided for free use. A few more basic grocery items and you really wouldn't need to leave the site! But we were told that the owners don't want to commercialise the site. Our children loved playing around the ponds which are lovely but unless you take a bike there isn't much else for children to do. Our children said they would like to see a little play area with some swings and a slide. From experience of other sites we found that children congregate in the play area making it easier for them to make friends. We'd love to go back for another relaxing holiday.

If Carlsberg did campsites this would be it. Relaxed, clean, good facilities. Children loved ponds and streams. Beautiful surroundings. Great pint of Brains in Hundred End Inn. Flat well grassed pitches with privacy. Never met owners! Paid via honesty box for site and bread, milk and bacon. Campers fridge and freezer - essential as we don`t have hook up.

From the minute you turn onto this camp site you WILL feel the stress beginning to fall away. Set in a beautiful valley with excellent flat grass and hard standing pitches, hook up is available too. Reception is a basic large 'shed' however all you need is there. Maps, info packs and best of all, a campers fridge and freezer. Just mark your own bags with the felt pen provided. The site also provides a fridge with bacon/bread etc available. Just put the money into the honesty box. Showers/toilet block is clean but basic, hey who cares, they do the job and are free. There are washing machines + tumble dryers too, again a small charge into the honesty box Ideal place for walks, bird watching and mountain biking. The best bit about this site for me was this though. There is nothing there, no club, no noise, just the gentle evening hum of people having BBQ's and chat. I slept the sleep of the dead. Brilliant. I will be going again (and again) Well done Katie and George a real gem of a spot.

Took our babies on their first camping trip here (our second) - theyre 13 months old, didnt think they would enjoy it, but they loved playing on the grass, which is as beautiful as any lawn i've ever seen, no stones or nasty prickly plants, no rubbish anywhere, they were totally safe and we could relax. Plenty of room to pitch the tent and park the car, and plenty of space between us and our neighbours, 1 minute walk to the toilet/washing/laundry facilities.
Toilet blocks were spotless, cleaned at least twice a day i'm sure, with cleaning equipment by the sinks, and outside of the blocks themselves, so you can clean any mud you take in with you, not leave it behind and feel guilty. Showers were lovely, quite small, but heat adjustable, and plenty of water, and free, enough space to get dried in, with hangers and duck board, hairdryers too. The laundry room is great 3 or 4 sinks to wash up in (with washing up liquid incase youve forgotten yours) plus a seperate sink to wash clothes in - which was deep enough to bath the babies in! Heaven! 2 washers + dryers worked great, also had an iron (no charge) a small ironing board, and a changing mat! outside of there is the recycling centre, for paper, glass and tins, unfortunately not for cardboard - never mind, the roof over head has swallow nests, look up on a night to see them peering out at you!
The reception room has a fridge which stocks bacon, eggs, milk, butter, orange juice and apparantly yogurt (none there when we went). Theres also a fridge and freezer for campers to use, postcards and washing powder tablets are also on sale here, and theres leaflets and information sheets.
There are streams running through the park, with little ponds here and there, At the recycling centre theyve left some nets for children to catch the pondlife (mainly bugs, but very exciting none the less) - take your own bucket! haha.
We had an amazing walk through the forest (or wood, not sure) quite steep, very muddy in places, but we got the pushchairs through it all, worth it for the view from the seat at the top - oh, if youre brave theres a lovely pond half way round that would be lovely for a swim (not for lone children - its deep)
We saw LOADS of rabbits, birds (one popped in and did a lap of the tent?! ) and strange insects, and really enjoyed the experience. The owners are very friendly, and almost always on site, theres a phone to ring them on if theyre not on. OH and there are cooking herbs around the centre of the site too!.
They really have thought of everything, tiny little details that made alot of difference. I really couldnt complain about anything. Except that its so peaceful and tranquil that the sheep seemed noisy! fantastic.
there are two large lakes being constructed. We're just hoping theyre going to having fishing lakes on site, definitely looks like theyve built fishing pegs - watch this space! Cost us £10 per night for a 6 berth tent and two adults (babies were free)

This was my second visit to this site. It really is a lovely, pretty tranquil site. Everything about it feels relaxed and chilled out, it's a great place to come and wind down. The owners seem helpful, friendly and laid back. The pitches were a good size - we went on a gravel pitch this time because it had been raining heavily recently but last time we were on a grassed pitch - I liked both areas. There are some lovely open spaces, and my son enjoyed playing on the large grassed area. There were also other little areas surrounded by trees and flowers and the odd picnic bench dotted about. Small ponds and streams added to the tranquillity of the place.

Our second visit this time for almost a full week. Superb site and location. Will be back later in the year for more walking and relaxation. We think anything would to change. Ok the toilet may not be the newest but it is always spotless.Owners have a very positive attitude to their customers and the result is that people keep coming back. First class!

We stayed here for Easter. This is a brilliant site in a lovely area. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We didn't feel too crowded, even though it was fairly busy. The facilities were immaculate and there's a camp fridge/freezer to use, which is a godsend if you're in a tent in the summer! There's also a little shop selling essential local produce (milk, bread, eggs etc) which is a nice touch. Although the nights were cold in the tent (we had a thin layer of ice on the tent on Easter Day!) this is the nicest campsite I've stayed on since getting my tent last year!

I was attracted to this campsite because of the description and the numerous positive reviews. I was not disappointed. In over 30 years of camping, not only in the UK but overseas, Fforest Fields' rates amongst the best. So what sets it apart from the rest? Apart from the lovely location, I would suggest that the organisation, layout of the site and thoughtful approach by the owners, who really understand what campers/caravaners want, are key. We arrived at a busy bank holiday weekend but there was plenty of space between the pitches. No question of playing sardines. The owners went out of their way to make sure that units were located in the most appropriate area ie all families in one area, couples with no kids in another and large groups elsewhere. However, the most important point here was that you were given choice, as long as it was feasible. Despite being busy, silence was golden by 1030pm and I don't recall any rude or loud groups. The pitches were level and there seemed to be lots of electric hook ups. Some picnic tables were also spread around the site. The toilet facilities were spotless and regardless of the rain remained that way. I know other reviewers have commented on the number of toilets and showers. Yes the block is of the older variety with only 4 toilets and 3 showers in each section, but there was no shortage of hot water and everything worked. I don't recall any queues. The separate dish washing & laundry block was excellent. The food at the Hundred house pub, within 20 mins walking distance was really good and not too expensive. The 'honesty' fridge on the site for the purchase of the campers' basic; bacon, bread & milk was an example of the trusting and friendly ethos of the campsite. No over bearing or officious individuals here. Just very helpful and friendly owners. We can't wait to return
