I have to agree with all the other reviews and say what a great site. It was our first time here after it was recommended to us by some friends. A great site in a great location.
Really friendly and helpful staff.
Great walks all around the site and through the woods.
Very spacious pitches with plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Will definitely be going again soon.

What a find! This is a beautiful campsite in a stunning location! Went there for father's day weekend with our 7 and 9 year old boys. Perfect for our kids with lots of open space to play in and ponds to fish in (nets supplied by campsite free of charge), there's also a lake for canoeing and lots of beautiful walks in the area.
We would definitely recommend a trip to the Elan valley. It was a simple, but fun weekend, enhanced by the lovely weather.
The campsite owners were so helpful and friendly, even interested in the boys tadpole collection! The site was well organised with pitches nicely laid out, allowing plenty of room and privacy.
The facilities were good and always clean, aided by the addition of cloths to clean, encouraging people to look after communal areas. We'll definitely be visiting this site again.

We have already booked again for august and we can't wait.
We were given a pitch for our van in the quiet area and it was perfect so peaceful with the only noise being the sounds of the wonderful bird life.
The 2 lakes are great and our two springers loved swimming in them and cooling down. Wonderful walks around the site and great views from the top of the hill. This site seems to have everything well thought out especially for the people in tents and we wished we had found it when we were campers.
We had difficulty getting TV reception but that wasn't a problem because George just directed us to the TV ariels that you can borrow for a small donation. We didn't do a lot of travelling around wales the weather and the walks around the camp site were so good.
We did enjoy a day out to Elan Valley and a walk down to the Hundred House pub for a meal.
Great campsite, Really looking forward to our next visit. PS The Bacon sold in the camp shop is fab.

Its a great place for a nice quiet break, the grass is well kept and some hardstanding pitches if required.
It has some lovely hill walks, and a gentle stroll around one of the two man made lakes.
Its a site that has everything you need from book borrowing to arial borrowing. There a pot wash and clean toilets and free showers.
Will definitely go again.

Unfortunately we had to change our plans twice and sent emails to Kate who assured me so kindly that the amendments were no problem at all.
Our welcome was warm and was personally shown three different pitches to choose from. The owner asked the ages of our children and then recommended a pitch near the stream for them to play in. The pitch was huge.
The site was beautifully maintained and the walks and lakes beautiful.
We are early risers and did not have to queue for showers but did see long queues later in the morning and in the evening. In fact the showers and toilets were the only thing that we felt let the site down slightly, though they were clean and functional they were very 'tired' and we felt that 3 showers and 4 toilets for each sex was not really enough for a busy site. Having said that it would not put us off going again.
The fridge with local produce in it was brilliant and the fact that we could go and buy milk at 6.30am and leave money in the honesty box was fabulous!

First time at Fforest Fields & certainly won't be the last. Very well kept site, friendly owners, clean toilets / showers, use of fridge / freezer / microwave a bonus too. Lovely views, pretty walks, not too overcrowded yet still busy and ideal for Mid Wales sight seeing.
Recomend the Severn Stars pub in Aberedw (10 min drive from the campsite & do beatuiful food), Elan Valley trail, The Strand Cafe / Bistro in Rhaeyder, Llandod sculpture trail, Llandod Lake to see the Water Beast (although we wouldn't recommend the Lakeside Cafe - staff a tad snooty!)
Overall - can't fault the place.

We have just returned from a fantastic few days at this site and being new to the world of caravanning (2 outings) we found this an ideal site for us.
The site is very accessible and even as a novice I found manoeuvring into my pitch an undaunting exercise. Recommend pitches 16, 17 or 18 which are close to all of the sites amenities
Our 13 year old labrador loved this site for its walks and the chance to have a cool off in one of the beautifully kept lakes.
Facilities are well cleaned and maintained even during this week which was a busy period, but by no means overcrowded.
I also recommend the Seven Stars Inn (Local Pub) about a 5-10 min drive from site (directions available in room behind reception) which served tasty local meals and a whole plethora of cider's from local & afar.
George was a familiar and friendly face and always willing to help where required which is always an added bonus.!
The added bonus of being able to have an post-bbq camp fire (subject to availability of galv trays) was the cherry on the cake.
Highly recommended to all age groups

This is our 2nd visit to this site and nothing has changed - horray! Still our most favourite site, and yes, there have been some changes but only to improve what is already excellent - more super all weather camping pitches, free Wifi, more of George's patient firepit / BBQs, three boats to use on the lake, and more.
For those wanting a relaxed and friendly environment, set in beautiful surroundings with super walks (for you and your dogs) right from the site, then this is THE place to visit - you can't beat it.
Within minutes of arriving we felt settled and happy, even after a five hour drive to get here. Even our children referred to this site as 'home' during our weeks stay.
Our only complaint is that it is a long way for us to visit so can only stay once a year! Katie, George and family - well done and thank you again for a lovely stay. See you next year!

Just got home after another idyllic short break at fforest fields. As always everyone was very friendly. The site was its usual clean, tidy and well managed. There are some beautiful walks surrounding the site one of which was to the Hundred House pub which is relatively easy going ( but not suitable for pushchairs, but its not far in your car)
We also walked to Angela's bench with exquisite views over the site and surrounding area, but the walk is a little bit harder especially if the ground is wet as it could be quite slippery.
The pitches are of a generous size (we have a 35ft American RV, there was still room for a car to park in front of the RV) and facilities are good
The only gripe we had was we had pitch 37 which was a long walk to the one and only chemical loo disposal point. Apart from that we had a fantastic stay and will be back next year.

A bit of an 'odd' site but OK. Good number of EHUs and hardstanding pitches with EHUs available to campers as well as caravans. Caravans and tents are allowed to mix together. Cars have to be kept off-site which is a bit annoying, but they're not too far away. There's plenty of playing space. It's good if you like hill walks, but otherwise, there's not much else to walk to. Toilets are permanently kept clean (I assume because it was a bank holiday weekend) with a full-time cleaner constantly cleaning them - very welcome indeed. Wireless internet is OK, but slow because it is probably being shared by a lot of users. There is only one toilet block though so a fair walk and the site is built on different levels so a few ups and downs too.
