Our third Whitsun stay here (stayed two weeks this year in all) and again we weren't disappointed. Some sites lose their initial appeal on revisits, but not Fforest Fields. Somehow it retains the 'magic' - so much so we have booked again for next year already!
The site continues to develop in a subtle way - more all weather pitches, the 'greenery' is growing up, and more has been planted.
Thankfully 'commercialism' has still being resisted, nor has the site size increased, so it retains it's homely and relaxed charm. Yes the 'facilities' are now reaching the end of their days and struggle to cope when the site is busy.
However the owners tirelessly keep cleaning them throughout the day to try and keep them looking something like. Katie, George and Will - my hat comes off to you for the extra midnight clean you put in during the holiday periods - dedication indeed!
All in all, still our favourite site. Keep up the good work - see you next year!

This was our second stay at Fforest Fields, I was initially apprehensive about booking over a bank holiday, (Whitsun) but I needn't have been.
Despite it being all 'booked' up there still felt a feeling of space, we have been used to the big field all to ourselves, but even sharing it with other tents, it didn't feel crowded.
The atmosphere is hard to describe, I liked how a previous reviewer called it 'Janet and John' like.
It has an old fashioned feel of camping how it should be, the kids have the opportunity to be just kids and enjoy themselves, be it on the lake, in the woods or just playing in the meadow, which always reminds me of 'Little House on the Prarie' when I see the kids gambolling through it.
The all weather pitches are great, and are used if you are staying longer than 4 nights, our sun had a pup tent on grass which we easily moved after the four days.
The honesty box is a wonder in this day and age, you pick your bacon, fresh orange juice or whatever, put your money in the envelope then into the honesty box.
The toilet shower block, although dated is kept very clean, constant cleaning at all times. There was much greenery about and pretty spring flowers.
The owners Katie, George and son Will are more than helpful, going beyond and above and it's lovely to see their presence around the site.
The wifi initially worked, but then stopped, not sure why, but that happens at home too, and as you don't have to pay for it not a problem, my friends T mobile dongle worked too.
It's my favourite site, and I think it's a hard site to beat, more campsite owners should visit to see how running a site that campers will love.

We stayed here during a wet bank holiday, but even the weather did not destroy our stay. This site is a lovely small site, we were in the field so my boys then had space to play in the field.
Pitches are all reasonable flat, all weather pitches for tents, hardstandings for campervans
Site was fully booked over the bank holiday, however there were spaces left probably due to the poor weather forecast so site did not feel overcrowded.
Despite a full site it still had a peaceful feel to it, lots of families staying all enjoying spending family time together.
The site is well away from the road so no road noise, and no light pollution at night.
The shower / toilet block was clean (the floor obviously got a bit worse for wear due to the weather) One night the water pressure seemed really low no hot water in the taps and cold water just about flowing.
Just about had a mobile signal on site (o2) but most of the surrounding area no signal.
The site has some lovely walks on site and further afield, the lake is an obvious draw even with the weather there were still people jumping in or on the
Lake, we took our dingy which proved a big hit with our boys. We had a lovely walk one day along the reservoirs (no phone signal along here).
Went to see Break a neck waterfall which was just a trickle of water but there was a lovely walk through the forest and lots of puddles to jump in!
Will be visiting this site again. Hopefully get better weather next time!

This is the only site we have revisited, as we like to try different places.
We will make this an annual trip as we love it here. So clean and pretty and plenty of room. Though we had awful weather, we got a few hours each day to go walking the dogs.
Loved the walk through the fields and woods to the pub, where we sat outside and had a glass of cider.
You can buy fresh eggs, milk, bacon etc and there is a laundry. The showers were always clean and hot when I used them.
This is a lovely get-away from it all!

What a fabulous campsite. Even though we booked at the last minute for the 'royal wedding weekend' the person we spoke to on the phone was really helpful and managed to squeeze us in.
When we arrived it was no squeeze though, there was plenty of space for everyone (which is how they like to keep it). We were in an excellent spot half way between the toilets and the lake.
My children had a fabulous time, in, on (thanks to the kayaks that you can borrow) and around the lake. The site itself was well thought out, lovely and green and didn't feel crowded at all even though there were a lot of people there.
There were fridges and freezers to use, somewhere to charge a mobile phone if needed and even an honesty shop to get basics. Camp fires were allowed (off the ground - we ended up buying an old mop bucket in Builth and having our fire in that which was perfect) and it is the sort of site where you can laze around all day without the need to go off and do anything else.
We will definitely be visiting again - which is unusual for us as we like to try somewhere different each time.

Camped here with friends over the Royal Wedding weekend. Absolutely beautiful, well thought out site. We were pitched near to the facilities which was very useful, but yet we did not feel that we were being constantly interrupted by other campers using the facilities due to the clever planting of trees/shrubs.
The honesty fridge and campers fridges are just what is needed - great if you are camping under canvas with no fridge - no sniffing of the milk first thing in the morning to see if it is still usable!
The kids (9, 11 & 14) loved the boating lake. They stayed there until they were blue, had a shower and then were back for the next round!
Admittedly the shower blocks are a little tired, but don't let that put you off. They were always clean and I only had to wait a short while for a shower on one occasion. Given it was a busy bank holiday weekend, I find that acceptable. I also understand that they are updating the shower block sometime soon.
All in all a fantastic site. We have all booked to go again later in the summer. A lot of the reviews that I have read about this site all say the same - booked to go again. And that really says it all! Roll on the summer.

Great site with all that you could ask for and more
Great walks
Loads of space. Our friends had a tent pitch and although wet was not boggy
Can't wait for the new facilities to be finished,
Our son loved finding all the wildlife in the stream, priceless experience
Will be back again. Loved the fact that you can hire the things to make a real fire and buy bacon and sausages on site, charge your phone and use the microwave
Such a great place close to everything we needed and even got a visit from autoglass to fix our car windscreen.
Looking forward to another visit this year

Incredible site.
Admittedly, we were blessed with the greatest Easter weather we could have hoped for, but the site, cleanliness, friendliness and stunning beauty far far outweighed our expectations.
Pitches pristine and laid out well, plenty of electric hookups. We were guided to the field and told to take our pick. Plenty of water points dotted about too.
Situated half way between Builth and Llandrindod wells, both of which have Co ops, Llandod having the Tescos and Aldi if you prefer.
The walks around the site are plentiful, plenty of space for the more than welcome 4 legged friends.
Largest Lake for swimming / boating. Kayaks and buoyancy aids for hire (Didn't check how much) But of course you can bring your own boat too.
Other lake for fishing and a pleasant three afternoons on the trot picking up Roach, tench and Crucian Carp.
We never queued for showers, nor washing up, and this being easter weekend, I guess it was about as full as it ever gets.
We've left the van down there to go back for this coming weekend. Can't wait !

Fforest Fields is a fantastic site, ideal for those who want peace and quiet. There are two lovely lakes there, one for fishing and one for swimming and small dinghy/canoes. There are numerous walks there ranging from farm tracks to mountain walks for the more energetic. On site there are showers, laundry and a small 'shop' providing some basics. It is very well maintained site and a family run one. The town of Builth Wells is 5 miles away and the Brecon Beacons a short drive. This site is a must for country lovers, dogs are welcome. I love this site and go there as often as I can.

I booked this site after reading the reviews and all I can say is yes I agree! Fantastic site wish it closer to home so I could spend weekends here. The surrounding are stunning and as a dog owner the walking was great. The owners said we could take the dogs on the fishing lake field and they were in their element huge field large enough for them to run after their ball and go for a swim to cool down.
We booked for 6 nights because we were moving further down for the remainder of our holiday - wish we had booked the full 14 nights. Highly recommended. If I had one niggle it was the showers could do with a bit of an update but they were relatively clean, never had to wait and hot need I say more. The owners were very helpful and friendly. I will book again
