I went here with my family and my sisters family in August last year, and I couldn't fault it. The people were friendly, the site is beautiful and peaceful, we had a very relaxing holiday. We never had to wait too long to use the showers and you get to know when it's busiest, besides your on holiday whats the rush. We visited a few places and the countryside was breathe taking. The kids ranging in age from 7 to 11 had a brilliant time playing in the woods till late running around with their torches. They were just as happy pond dipping they had a brilliant time. We raved so much about the place that my 19 year old daughter who previously thought it very uncool to go on holiday with her parents and her little sister has decided to come with us this year high praise indeed. I look forward to spending an equally brilliant time this year. This site is well worth a visit, if you're into places that have loads of facilities forget it this is a place you come to relax!

Can't add a lot here but to say plan ahead and if you see rain will be in the area, request an all-weather pitch, it makes a world of difference. We had one and it made a world of difference when we had to pack up.
The dish washing facilities were great. In the same room there are two washers/dryers. We didn't use them as they were always on the go.
The shop on-site provides some staples (bread, milk) on an honesty system. But not to despair, there are shops (a Spar and a Co-Op) just a short drive (4 miles).
Due to the weather, we didn't get to take advantage of the walks, but the family have gone to extreme lengths to provide detailed maps of the area and walks you can take. Next year we will hopefully have a drier one and we'll get to take them!
We didn't eat at the Hundred House Inn (a mile away) but they had a few real ales on tap and it made a nice escape from the tent considering we had rain pretty much the whole time during our stay.

A truly amazing camp site.
George and his family were always very helpful, polite and friendly.
What a pleasure it was to have such great campsite owners who put the needs of the campers top of their list.
A must if you go to Fforest Fields is to try the delicious local bacon, eggs, bread and other produce.
The toilet block is a little tired, but always clean and tidy, and more than adequate for the needs of all campers.
We along with our dogs enjoyed some fantastic walks, marvellous views and the icing on the cake for our dogs after a long walk was a swim in one of the lakes.
After thirty years of caravanning it was so refreshing to find a campsite with few rules, everybody friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend this site to all.

Our 5th visit to Fforest fields. Once again, how can I find fault? We were there for the Royal Welsh show week. Although the site full sign was up it was deliberately not completely full but just nicely filled. No queueing for showers or toilets during the entire 5 nights we were there. George put us on one of the new all weather pitches, which was excellent, a big improvement from the muddy mess we left behind after last year's stay. I would say though if you use one and you have a SIG you'd be best with a footprint underneath to save stones puncturing it. The lake was once again well used by our children both with the dingy and they went swimming, despite the weather. Our favourite site and look forward to returning next summer

What can you say about Fforest Fields that has not already been said.
The site has the most spectacular views of any site we've stayed at, nice friendly helpful staff.
We also visited the pub up the road which had a nice welcoming atmosphere.
As a couple who normally use adults only sites , we found this site to be just as peaceful with considerate campers on site. Lots of children enjoying themselves but none of rowdy element that you can sometimes encounter. The site was quiet by 11pm if not earlier.
The only downside of the site was the shower and toilet facilities. We visited on a particularly busy weekend, the site was fully booked.
To be honest although clean with hot water the shower blocks are very small. 3-4 showers , toilets and basins. Same with the dish washing facilities, 3 or 4 sinks. We did have to queue to shower, also wash dishes. This site is so popular that I think this may be the norm unless more facilities are provided as there must have been a couple of hundred campers on site.
This as I said is the only thing that spoiled our stay but at £14 per night a lot of people may be prepared to queue to use the facilities.
We however require 2 things when camping. Peace and quiet and good facilities. Because this site lacks enough facilities we will not visit again but feel that if others are willing to queue at busy times then this will probably be one of the best sites they will ever visit.

I really cannot add anything to what has already been said.
Fforest Fields is an absolute treasure in every aspect. The location, value for money, the facilities, the attention to detail and the running of the place are second to none.
George and Katie (and the rest of their lovely family too!) have achieved an ideal. For me, it's simply the best campsite yet and epitomizes the true essence of camping. Paradise has been found!

This is a very beautiful site, especially if you appreciate birds and wild flowers, as there are several untouched areas where both can happily live. We camped in the quiet area, which has a sign saying 'no noisy children or adults,' which was wonderful, although few parents would think their particular offspring were noisy! The facilities were adequate, very clean at all times, although the shower cubicles were a bit cramped, but that's being very picky. The Honesty box idea was also great, but I hope it's not abused.
There was a small 'shop' on the site with the very basics, otherwise the nearest shop is in Builith Wells. We ate at the nearest pub, the Hundred House Inn, which had a variety of meals on offer, including some good offers- curry nights, steak nights, etc.
All in all, a wonderful, peaceful site- I hope it doesn't get too popular!

Only went for the w/e to try out the Icarus for the 1st time, wonderful large level pitches, had option of pitching in quiet adult only area which was perfect - impressed with amount of space in adjoining field which looked ideal for the young kiddies with their balls etc. My only concern would be the ability of the shower / toilet to cope with demand of full capacity at peak times as there were only 3 showers / 4 toilets per sex Pub a mile away served a wicked steak & Builth is about 4 miles away if you need a supermarket

Simply stunning, we stayed for 4 nights over the spring bank holiday, and the only time we left the site was to go to the local pub, The Hundred House Inn for a meal, which was excellent, a huge helping, and not expensive.
We took our 10 year old grandson with us, who has slight learning difficulties, and the only time we saw him was at mealtimes, and bedtimes, but we knew he would be quite safe here.
We also met a lovely couple who were sited next to us, and had a barbie, and quite a few bottles ! what camping is all about.
The lakes were brilliant in the hot weather, people, and dogs swimming together. The thing we noticed more than anything was how friendly all the other campers were, something you don't always see on sites these days, must be the influence of George, Kate, and all his family.

Following my brief tour of Wales, this was the last campsite on the return leg of my journey. I was attracted to this site after looking at their wonderful website, one of the best in terms of information and pictures alike, also quite trendy looking. Also, previous reviews on here seemed to suggest it was a good bet.
On arrival I was struck with the picturesque site. The reception was a quaint little ‘Wendy House’ affair. The Owners has left a little note saying “Gone to lunch, make yourself at home” Nice touch. So once I had signed the booking in register and calculated how much my pitch was (this part took ages after five hours constant driving in a VW Camper) I left the money in the honesty box and decided to park up. They also had organic / free range bacon, bread & eggs etc on sale yum!
After a little snooze I decided to explore the site and to my amazement found that you could camp in the back field. This had electric to the majority of the pitches. The views from most of the pitches on site were fantastic but the back field is just serene.
Once set up I was intent on taking the mountain bike out for a blast and was told how to get up to the forest track. The track up there was fierce, so were the squadrons of flies, but once I had overcome the accent it was all worth it. The views and surrounding hills were awesome, some of the best mountain biking I had done all holiday. In fact if I had prepared a little better then I would have been gone the rest of the day, but as it was I only had one chocolate chip cookie a bottle of energy drink. After an hour or two riding across the hills I decided to return to the site. The downhill’s were just mental got up to 30 mph before crashing avoiding some kamikaze sheep.
If you pick one campsite in Wales this year then let it be Fforest Fields. The site is brilliant a credit to the lovely owners.
P.S. Don’t just go here for the mountain biking. The walks are great, so are the lakes and it’s just so peaceful.
