Enjoyed our 3rd visit to Wolds Way and cannot praise the site enough.
The views are excellent.
The pitches are large and flat. We didnt use the electric this time, but with the microwave and fridge in the wash room, this didnt cause a problem at all.
The hosts are always very welcoming and helpful.
There is a small childrens play area which kept our two kids occupied.
The shower room/toilets are lovely and clean.
Its a great base to explore the surrounding area, plus if you enjoy walking, there are several walks to choose from.
We absolutely love this site, and would recommend it to anyone.
We are hopefully going to squeeze another visit in this year!

Myself, my partner and our 2 children have just spent 3 nights at Wolds Way, The facilities on this site are fantastic offering family bathrooms consisting of showers, toilets and a large corner bath! The site is kept in a lovely condition, all the toilet blocks were very clean, there's also a laundrette on site, a shop that is very well stocked with local products that are very reasonably priced and a small play area for the children. The staff on site were very welcoming and friendly. This site is situtaed between Scarborough and Pickering perfect for a seaside break or the annual steam rally in Pickering (July/August). Would love to return to the site again soon 10/10!

We have just returned home after a week at Wolds Way and would thoroughly recommend the site. The facilities are excellent (clean toilets, showers, baths, washing up sinks, fridge, freezer, microwaves, toaster, laundry and shop) and an absolute bargain, (worked out at £84 for 7 nights for us). There were some groups who were noisy until late into the evening but the site owners were around to remind them to keep the noise down.
I was concerned about the exposed position of the site after reading a previous review but although the weather deteriorated at the the end of the week and the winds were quite strong it didn't seem too bad. Unfortunately the ground is very hard and we had to invest in some new tent pegs as our basic metal ones just wouldn't go in and the 5 min drive up the track to the site took some getting used to!
We found the location ideal for visiting a range of attractions in North Yorkshire - York itself, the beaches at Filey and Scarborough and the North York Moors National Park.

Booked this site for weekend in July - Seems we picked the hottest weekend of the year! Toilet block is spotless, lovely poweful showers, plenty of hot water & free carex hand wash. There 2 family Bathrooms & one Ladies Bathroom in addition to the 3 Ladies showers, never had to wait at all. The pot wash is under cover, there is a fridge freezer free of charge to use, 2 microwaves & toaster, all free. The shop has all the basics very reasonably priced, plus Wolds local Beer - Very nice! Pitches are large & well laid out. Unless you really enjoy walking for miles you need your car to go anywhere. The local villge has a Fish & Chip shop & a couple of pubs. Morrisons is around 6 miles away. The picnic benches on site have lovely views and receive the sun all day.
If there is a fault it is the pot wash room, the kids leave it in a mess, water everywhere & the noise on an evening can go on after midnight. Otherwise a superb site, fantastic setting & very reasonably priced - We will certainly return.

Fantastic facilities, great views, experience needed if winds forecast.
CYCLISTS
The approach from the A64 is difficult when loaded. The surface varies from reasonable tarmac to slag and gravel, with inclines of upto 1 in 8. The site shop stocks enough for an evening meal along with good selection of local bottled beers and table wine, but NOT bread or crackers. There is a microwave oven available at no extra charge in the camp kitchen. But forget pitching and going back into town to the shop unless you are seriously fit.
There is an alternative access from the South which cuts out most of the climb upto the campsite. The campsite said would be OK for cyclists to use this track but not suitable for vehicles. OS Landranger 1:50000 101, SE 911744 Take the drive to East Farm and continue on track towards West Farm, campsite is on the left of the track.

We visited this site for 1 night to suss out whether it would be suitable for my 4year old son and were not disappointed. The owners were really friendly and helpful. It was worth more than the £12 per night fee. It was a great site with amazing toilet and bathroom facilites. Food storage and washing up room were also provided free of charge - there's even a tv if you want to keep up with the world! I would recommend this site to everyone especially those new to camping and those with kids. There is a nice wooden play park for the kids and lovely walks really close by. We will definitely be returning.

What a gem of a site - just back from a wonderful week at Wolds Way and definitely intend to return.
Excellent large pitches, plenty of space for everyone. Facilities are top of the range, the 3 unisex showers/toilets are superb (one even containing a corner bath as well). The showers and toilets in the ladies/gents were also very good and kept cleaned to a high standard. There was also a room in the 'ladies' at the end of the corridor with a full size bath!
Derek and Carol the owners couldn't have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were mines of information about the local area.
Small but well stocked shop, which was useful as because the site is about a mile or so from the main road you need to take the car really to get anywhere (unless you are very fond of walking of course).
Washing up sinks and kitchen, completely under cover which was great and free use of microwaves (which we took advantage of)and fridge/freezer which we didn't need as we had taken the option of having a very reasonably priced EHU.
Good fish and chip shop in nearby Rillington and a large, well stocked Morriosns in Malton about 6 miles away.
Very well placed site for both York and the coastal resorts and lots and lots to do locally.
If you do go to York we can heartedly recommend using the Monks Cross Park & Ride and if you are going to be there for several days get a 3 day York Pass it'll save you a considerable amount if you plan on visiting lots of sttaractions as we did!
Small playground for children, we we didn't make use of as we don't have any, but there were plenty of children using it especially when the site was quite busy at the weekend and they certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.
As I said this site is an absolute gem and we will certainly be recommending it to all our camping friends and family - for a relaxing break with excellent facitilties in a lovely location and at very reasonable prices.

We have just returned from a weekend at this site, minus our van. Because we have decided to leave it there for when we go back next week, and the week after. What a great site, which now rates as my joint No.1 fav site in the UK to date!
Situated on a hilltop with wonderful views, this open site is accessed via a long, fairly steep hill from the main road, which is no problem to a properly matched tow car and van. We arrived late due to a delay on the A64 (nothing new there), but a very nice man was waiting for us to take us to our grassed, very flat pitch, with very close water supply.
This site has a fair number of seasonal pitches and I have never been on a site where such pride is taken by the van owners in their own little bit of the site. The toilet block is great, as reviewed by others so I will not repeat, but really lovely and clean. Caravans and tents are not segregated to any extent which we like and the site has a very friendly feel to it, indeed we met some very nice people, not least Carol and Derek who are helpful in the extreme. These folks even leave their own mobile numbers for guests in case they are needed.
There is a small shop/reception that covers most essential items including wine and real ale in bottles, and we cam personally recommend the local sausages and bacon – best sausages we have ever had! As well as the domestic farm animals there such as cows, sheep (the Highland Coo’s are great) I saw swifts, wagtails, one of which spent 15 minutes trying to mate with my wing mirror, a buzzard and hares running around the site. Nearby there is a farm bakery that does to die for home produce, such as pork pies, quiche, scones, cakes etc.
I was unable to see any downsides to this site other that the chemical disposal point is a fair walk away at the very far end of the site, but then again, what better place to have it!

Stayed for 1 night at this friendly site between Malton and Scarborough, very easy to find as well signposted off main road.
Friendly welcome, well stocked shop and toilet and shower block very clean.
Loads of farm animals and wildlife on site.
Only 3 washing up facilities but was not a chore as benches located outside to sit and admire the views whilst waiting.

We have just arrived back home from a two night short break at this site and have already changed our summer plans to enable us to go back for longer - it has to be said that this is the best site that we have stayed on yet! The owners Carol and Derek have chosen to not have their site as a 'conventional' site and this is to their credit. There are bathrooms with baths, showers, loo's and sinks all in together which are immaculate and 'home from home' which is great for families - not typical campsite showers which is what Carol and Derek pride themsevles on.
The site is immacualte (grounds and facilties) and a great spot to use as a base for loads of places - York, Scarborough, Malton, Whitby, Flamingo land, Air Museum, Eden Camp to name just a few - oh and the lavander farm is just along the road.
Our 5 & 8 year old boys loved it, the play area has been commented on by others as small but its much bigger than what ours have been used to on C&CC sites so they certainly enjoyed it! There are lots of lovley tame animals that keep the kids entertained also, 8am and 6pm lamb feeding with bottles was a must for ours!
We cannot recommend this site enough, we already have told all our friends. It is way under priced for the qualtiy you get - nothing is a problem for the owners and they are so keen to get feedback from customers about what else they can do to make your stay more enjoyable - not alot left in our opinion! Get booked!
