I visited this site with my 3 kids and dog at the beginning of August this year and I have to say what a delightful place it was. It is the first time I have been camping where I had an actual tour of the facilities etc.

It is a beautiful camp/caravan site with stunning views and scenery. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and the bathroom facilities are excellent (I've never been to a campsite where there is a corner bath!) The family rooms are brilliant having a bath, shower, loo and sink all in the same room.

The site itself is well spread out, so you don't feel on top of each other and there is a fantastic area in the middle of the camping field for children (and adults) to play football, cricket etc.

There are plenty of EHU and you are offered an extension (FOC), if your own hookup isn't long enough.

Being on the Wolds way, there are plenty of walks right from the site without having to drive anywhere, but it also perfectly placed to visit a lot of the east coast beaches, and tourist attractions in the vicinity.

The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and have a well stocked shop with essentials, as well as a few extras.

The washing up room is a large indoor (warm) area which also has a big fridge freezer, toaster and microwave, which are free to use. There is also a tea/coffee/hot chocolate machine which is £1. 00 per drink (very useful!)

My children, dog and I had a lovely time here and I can't honestly say there were any negative points that I could think of.

WE'LL BE BACK

An absolutely fantastic site. The owners Derek & Carol are so friendly

And helpful. They also offer power extensions as a matter of course. A great child & dog friendly site and if you want to leave your dog for the day they offer secure kennels (although this wasn't something we used).

Full bathroom facilities including full baths! Fraithsthorpe beach is about 20 minutes away which is fantastic for dogs, also not far from Filey and Scarborough.

Really enjoyed our few days here catching up on some well needed R&R.

Highly recommend this site. Facilities were top notch and the owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Price for a night was more than reasonable and included electric hook up. We ended up staying an extra two nights as the kids were having such a good time. Camp sites don't get better than this.

Fifth time at Wolds way and really enjoyed our 11 nights here again. Site is great for us with plenty of room for our new tent, gazebo and car. Carol and Derek (owners) are lovely and very welcoming, Susan says thanks for the Wolds blonde beer, says we should get a trailer so we can bring some home with us next year :-) Toilets and showers cleaned daily, toilet rolls etc always available. Shop is open often enough for top ups. Del, caretaker, made sure we had an extension for our hook up and brought us bbq bricks when we asked even though the harvest was going on and he was very busy right into the evening. To be honest, he has helped us and our friends many times over the years and he is gem. Laundrette round the back was used again, shop stocks washing tabs for this. We can't say enough good things about this site with people we've met year after year travelling from as far as Essex, Norfolk, Wales and us from Scotland - says lots about how good this site is. Looking forward to visiting again next year, thanks again.

We have visited this site twice now because it is so nice.

We have a large tent and we don't use electric.

Because I am disabled we need a spot by the toilets. We got this for the normal non electric price and both times we stayed, they got us in there even though the site was busy, as it was the school holidays even though it was a late booking.

The site is large and is also a working farm.

The road on the way up to the site has been tarmacked but there is often loose stones on top of it. It is uphill on a long private single traffic lane to the site, but there are passing places.

The owners Derek and Carol are lovely and welcoming, nothing is too much bother for them. If they are free, they will open the shop for you, just give them a ring (there mobile numbers are on the shop door).

The bathroom facilities are great, there are three family bathrooms, one with a toilet and shower, one with a toilet, bath and shower and another one in the ladies which has a toilet and a bath.

There is also a accessible bathroom with a wide door, a wide shower and a toilet, it is not a wet room however it does have a shower chair.

The washing up facilities are great, they are inside in the warm, there are two sinks and drainers here, there is also a microwave and a fridge freezer which anyone can use. I do advise you to write your name and the dates of your stay on anything you put in it, it also dispenses ice. There is a hot drinks machine here you can use for a small charge. Around the back of this block is a pay to use washing machine and dryer but you need the correct change and washing detergent. There is another washing up sink here too.

The site is very flat apart from a small grass ramp to the toilets and other facilities, if you are in a scooter or wheelchair you can take the flat road route though.

There is a very nice children's play area with a wooden climbing frame, slide, etc. And a big field to play football, Frisbee etc.

The whole time we were here the facilities were kept scrupulously clean, I was very impressed.

There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area, we have been twice and still have not seen and done everything we want to. York is about 45 min to an hour away, Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough are even closer. It is a beautiful place, the North Yorkshire Moors are spectacular. There are lots of pubs and places to eat in Malton and Norton

This campsite is fabulous. The staff are friendly and welcoming! It has excellent facilities - including showers and washing machine. There's even microwaves! There's a kids play area as well and plenty of room for kids to play on their bikes. We had an electric hook-up and the site owners were kind enough to lend us an extra long hook up lead because ours was too short. They have wi-fi for a nominal charge if the kids really can't bear to be without gadgets! There's a shop on site selling basics and confectionery. Wolds Way lavender farm is well worth a visit and is practically next door. Flamingo land is less than 10 miles away and York is also nearby. Staff were available whenever we needed them and were very knowledgeable about the local area.

We highly recommend this site.

Situated on the A64 towards Scarborough just past Wolds Way Lavender. There are no signs to inform you off where the turning is until your right on top of it but it is there and plenty big enough when you find it. Ideally placed for trips into York, Scarborough, Whitby and surrounding areas. The drive upto the site is long and quite steep but fully tarmacked and room to pass other vehicles if you come across them. A nice addition are the family of wooden sheep at the entrance to the site that the kids loved every time we drove past them.

The site itself is very nice and well looked after and there is room for both caravans and tents. There seems to be a more of a pitch where you feel vibe to the site in regards to tents which was a bit disappointing for me but others may be fine with this arrangement. The field for tents was big enough and there was electric points available to use also. The point we were connected to also had water taps which didn't seem to work however there was another tap just a short walk away to use which was fine. This site is situated at a top of a hill so it got quite windy on occasions which made it a bit cold during the evenings but when the wind stopped it was very nice and the views were fantastic. There is a small playground for the children to use which was fine for my 4 and 2 year old but older children may get bored. The ground to the site is extremely hard and very difficult to peg normal tent pegs into. I was so glad I read other reviews and purchased some hard ground pegs. However I still managed to bend quite a few normal pegs once these had ran out!The amenities on site are again fantastic plenty of room in the shower blocks and plenty of hot water there was even a family room which made life easier with the the two boys. Adjacent to this there is also a washing up room with two sinks, double fridge/freezer, coffee machine and microwave again plenty of room in this and kept very tidy. Next to this is the site shop which is stocked with essentials and is reasonably priced. Around the site are wooden picnic tables available to use and enjoy the views and there even some quite nice walks dotted around to enjoy.

We found the owners to be very polite and welcoming and the site handyman was a very nice man and very helpful. Overall a very nice campsite and ideally situated.

Lovely site, beautifully located with breathtaking views. The owners were very polite and helpful, the amenities sparkling clean. Plenty of hot water in the showers, and the shower/toilet block was heated which was lovely. Fish n chip van comes on a Saturday. Access road is very narrow and quite steep, but fully tarmacked and quite smooth in most places. Turn off from A64 isnt marked until you are right on the turning so be wary of it. The field for tents was nice and level, we could pick our own spot as it was quiet. Hint - the ground is quite stony so bring strong tent pegs :). There is a small playground for children but I couldn't really see anything else for them to do, so they might get a bit bored.

Having recently purchased our first caravan finding a site that suited was of paramount importance. We wanted to remain at a site rather than tour and we also have our four legs to consider so a dog friendly site was of course a must. We have certainly found the perfect location at Wolds Way.

Set in magnificent countryside with gorgeous views Wolds Way is a bit of a hidden gem.

The site is easy to find directly off the A64 Scarborough road and the access road is fully tarmacked for an easy drive in, with regular access points for passing vehicles.

When we arrived we were helped on to our pitch a gesture we were most welcome of given we are complete newbies, going forward towing was challenging enough without having to mast reverse (ha ha). The site has everything you need. Excellent washroom facilities, clean, well kept with adequate hot water, toilet paper, hand towels and hand wash. The family bathrooms must be a god send for families with small children. The scenery is just breath taking and a perfect location for exploring the many walks through the woodland and meadows.

The many tourist attractions the area offers, the East Coast and Dolby Forest are all around a 30-40 minute drive. Near enough to be local but far enough away to have the rural, countryside feel away from the commercialisation of the larger 'Holiday Camp' style sites.

The well stocked shop is excellent and unlike some site the owners do not take advantage with the pricing, extremely reasonable and has everything you could possibly need (even Wi-Fi at a nominal charge). The touring rates are exceptionally reasonable as are the caravan storage.

The site is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Even though the site was busy it was still tranquil as the pitches are well spaced with lots of wide open spaces to enjoy and evening stroll.

We cannot wait for a return visit and cannot recommend this site highly enough for a peaceful weekend retreat from the normal Monday to Friday 9-5.

Been coming here for a few years now and found it an ideal site for exploring the surrounding area. Toilet blocks and showers are clean and comprehensive. Owners are very helpful and the handyman will do anything for you. However, the site is now starting to look a little run down. Little has been done over the winter and the top third of the entrance road is now in danger of causing damage to vehicle suspension. The sign at the entrance has blown down and lies in a hedge. Even in high season the shop does not have regular opening hours so can't be relied upon and the website hasn't been updated since feb last year. The initial enthusiasm when the site first started seems to have gone which is a shame because this could be a much better site if a little more time and money were spent on it but at the moment it seems to be in decay.
Management response: The road was resurfaced with Tarmac by a specialist company in March and is perfectly safe for all traffic

The sign did blow down in the gales in early March and was re erected after 8 days, we waited 3 days for new posts to be delivered and two days for the cement to dry. One should remember you can only erect a sign after it has blown down

Shop opening times: the shop in high season has minimum opening times of 8:30 to 10 am and 4:00 to 6:00pm, in reality it is open much longer

With regard to lack of investment we are spending £300,000 over the next three years, (£100,000 per year for three years). Already this year we have spent £15,000 on road improvements and have just started a £55,000 upgrade of the hot water system and central heating facilities block. This contract has been given to Duncan Renewables and should be complete by 1st May 2014. Other planned improvements for this year are chemical waste, and landscaping

So no lack of investment or enthusiasm here.

Carol Watson joint owner
