We have just returned from our first visit to Wolds Way.
What a brilliant site - the facilities are superb. The family bathroom is great, the kids loved the corner bath! The washing up room is good, there are 2 microwaves, a Kenco machine (costs 50p) and a very small tv as well as a Fridge/Freezer which is free to use. The on site shop is small but well stocked and the prices are very reasonable. Everything was spotlessly clean and not a spider in sight!
The kids loved seeing the animals everyday and the play area was very popular!
We will definitely be going again, the site owners are very friendly and helpful

This is the 3rd year we have been to this site and it just gets better. As ever Derek and Carol are very very helpful and nothing is ever any trouble to them.
The extension to the spotless toilet facilities giving an extra 3 private shower rooms (1 with large corner bath) is fantastic and our 8 year old was desperate to get in it (wish he was like this at home). Also a reasonably priced well stocked shop that is open most of the day.
We keep returning to this site because even when full it is never over crowded or noisy. There are some great local attractions such as Scarborough, the north Yorkshire railway, Flamingo land and the Eden camp all well worth a visit. The site is also dog friendly with plenty of good walks. Looking forward to our next visit later in the year.

Just returned today from this SUPERB site. The toilet facilities are the best we have seen, even including a big corner bath in one of the rooms. Derek and Carole were really welcoming and friendly. Derek even lent me a EHU extension (free) as our pitch was too far from the hook up point for mine to reach. My boys, aged 6 & 8 soon made lots of new friends and the youngest loved feeding the lambs. If it has to have a negative it is that the ground is very rocky (underneath) so I struggled with the standard pegs but I am sure a batch of 'rock pegs' would overcome this. The views are something else. We tried two different pubs for food (Coach & Horses and Dawney Arms) both good food and welcomed the boys.

Once again Derek and Carol have exceeded expectations. New family bathrooms have been installed and are quite superb even posher than mine at home in addition to the already superb facilities.
Been to this campsite for a couple of years now and very relucatant to go elsewhere so I wont.
We really enjoy staying here and I have to disagree with the last post as we have stayed at busy periods and the site has never seemed that busy. I suppose it depends what you are used to.
Never had any problems at this site and it is so peaceful, great for kids with the animals to feed. Ours look forward to going and we have kids in our party ranging from 15 down to 3.
The owners are very helpful and there is a wealth of places to visit and explore. Well situated for a peaceful camping trip and an enjoyable time. Well done.

Visited Wolds Way on Bank Holiday weekend.
As per other reviews, lovely site, friendly and helpful owners.
Large tent field close to facilities, which are lovely and clean. 1 room with 4 loos and sinks. Another room with 4 showers and 3 sinks. Then there is a shower room with loo and sink and a bathroom. Never went in the gents!
We would have absolutely no hesitation in using this site again, but not on a Bank Holiday. It was very busy. Tent field full, seasonal caravans also busy. We had neighbours with 3 caravans and a tent parked up corral style, 4 units in effect on 3 pitches, with an extension in the electricity bollard to increase the sockets from 4 to 5! never seen that before. To be fair even though site full it was not noisy late at night and all the kids enjoyed themselves but were not too boisterous.
Just a bit busy for us.
Most touring pitches are on grass - again well kept/trim etc.,
When you turn off the main road onto the track to the site, it is a further 1.5 miles up the hill before you get to reception! Not a bad track, a third of it tarmac, but the site is too far to walk into town etc., definitely need the car.
There is a farmhouse bakery not far up the road and a pub serving food.
We went into Scarborough one day - about 25 miles - worth using their park and ride facility. No charge to park the car - no hassle - and a bus ride of 40p every 10 minutes.
Another point to bear in mind is the wind. Bank holiday was a windy affair in a lot of places, and this site is no exception. It is at the top of the hill and very open. So if the forecast is for a windy outlook and you have a tent I would think hard.
Will be booking again soon.

This is the first time we had visited Wolds Way but it will not be our last. This is really nice quiet site that is excellently ran by Derek and Carol.
The kids loved been around the animals, especially feeding the lambs. The pitch sizes are really generous and considering our Vermont XL that is saying something.
The toilet block is always clean and it isn't too far from the tent field either. My only slight negative was the showers but I think that was due to them all being in use at the same time. Of course that insn't enough to detract from the site though.
Can really recommend Wolds Way to anyone.

Had a week here with family and visited some local attractions. Lovely site, the owners are still really helpful and kind. Our children loved the farm animals and the site. The facilities were still spotless, but some of the fixtures were starting to become unstuck. Hopefully this will be sorted for the 2008 season.

Stayed at this site for 5 nights in May/June half term. We were looking for a site not too far from home and hoping to find somewhere we could go back to for weekends and short breaks.
The site is lovely and quiet, away from main roads but easy to drive to and not too far from York and Scarborough for days out. Be prepared for strong winds - the site is fairly exposed and up a hill!
The pitches are not marked out and when we arrived Derek showed us the camping field and asked us where we'd like to pitch - this suited us and the large field with tents around the preimeter left a good sized area for ball games, etc in the middle.
There is a small play area on site in a corner of the tent field so safe enough for even quite young children to play there while Mum and Dad relax by the tent. The play area is not really suitable for older children, our 6 year old enjoyed it but our 8 and 10 year old were soon looking for something else to do.
Lovely walks from the site and the cleanest shower/toilet block I have seen on a campsite with proper shower cubicles and basins in one room, and toilet cubicles and basins in another - a really good layout. There was also a family bathroom which we didn't use but looked clean also.
The dishwashing area was also the best I have seen on a campsite - inside a large room with a television and tea and coffee making facilities. I usually leave the washing up to my husband but was happy to volunteer at this site!
I would say that this site is ideal for families with young children or couples without children and whilst we enjoyed our stay (and I appreciated the lovely showers) there was not really enough to keep our older boys occupied so when we return we would expect to need to plan more days out than we would normally do when camping.
Overall, I would highly recommend this site for cleanliness, friendliness and peace and quiet.

Absolutely brill site, relaxing and unwinding after a week at work.
Facilities are great, everything you need is on hand.
The owners, Derek & Carol can't do enough for you whilst running their busy working farm. You can see they are very proud of their Campsite as its maintained extremely well with the help from 'Actor' with the tractor! (aka Del)
Can't wait for March 2008 so we can enjoy the peace and tranquilty all over again.
Keep up the good work.
