This was a lovely campsite. Showers spotless and big. Bath to wash the children in after they had played in the play area for hours! Shop basic but good. Owner gave us some of his own milk because the delivery hadnt come in yet!
Was quite a drive from the road on a bumpy track for alot of the way. But this made it quite secluded and picturesque.
Some of our fellow campers did keep us up until midnight, even though there was meant to be no noise after 11pm. They probably regretted it at 5.15am when one of their children got up and woke their whole party of about 15 people up!
Overall this was a lovely site and we would come again.

Not the best camp site we have ever been to but you get what you pay for. This site offers very good value for money and would be hard to beat for the price. The views are superb.
It is a nice clean site, in a very quiet 'away from it all' location - it takes 2-3 minutes to drive uphill from the front gate, which is immediately off the A64 (handy for going east or west), before you reach the camping area. The site is high up and the views of the countryside are spectacular but, of course,it can be windy. We were very lucky with the rain (only 2 hours during 11 days), especially considering the summer we have just had,but if it does rain there are few trees etc to offer any shelter. Also, some of the grass would probably get quite muddy. One of the routes to the facilities block was via a small grassy slope which was slippery and a little bit muddy. It had rained a lot in the weeks before we arrived but this particular area needs gravelling or something.
The grass around the tents was too long and needed to be cut but otherwise the site was well looked after.
The camping pitches are not marked and it's a bit of a free for all - pitch where you like. This was fine until it got a bit busy - some tents pitched too close to others. Not really enough individual EHU points which resulted in lots of extension leads. We didn't see anyone trip despite the long grass but.
The well lit and clean toilet facilities (2 toilets plus 2 urinals,5 sinks,5 showers and 1 bathroom for men and 4 toilets, 4 showers and 1 bathroom for women) coped with the ever increasing numbers on site and some more are being built.
The owners are very welcoming and available at all times despite running a busy farm. We received a small welcome pack of locally produced goodies (beer, crisps, snacks etc) - nice one Derek!
The facilities are limited but of good quality with some nice touches ie a microwave, toaster and TV in the washing-up room. The on-site shop is well stocked and the prices are certainly reasonable. Small play area for kids. Several picnic benches. The site's own web site gives a very accurate summary of what to expect.
This site should definitely be considered. 9/10 for the price.

The owners of this recommended site are very welcoming and helpful.
The small shop provides essentials and some local produce. Additionally, there is a shop in the local village, and a Morrisons in Malton (about 6 miles away).
The toilets and showers are well maintained and kept clean. The kitchen has a microwave, a toaster and a hot drinks machine. There is also a small TV and a rack of information leaflets.
The good-sized pitches are flat and well-drained, and some offer fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. There is a fenced dog-walk and a number of public footpaths run straight from the site.
The site is just a couple of miles away from the Walled Garden at Scampston, which is fabulous, and well worth a visit if you're interested in gardens.

A group of 4 families (total of 9 children between us) in tents stayed at this site for a weekend in August. We had a great time. The site is lovely - mainly flat pitches, not too busy, toilets and showers were excellent, there's a separate bathroom in the ladies as well as 3 shower cubicles, very clean and well maintained. There is also a very useful room for washing up in (2 sinks and drainers) which also has a microwave (great for warming up the baby's food) and a hot drinks machine. The owners were lovely too - even let my 3 year old have a sit on the red tractor (made his day!). The shop has everything you need (including the heavy duty tent pegs which were essential purchases due to the hard ground). There is an outdoor play area at the end of the field next to the toilet block which is great as you can keep an eye on the kids while staying at the tent. Although, one suggestion for improvement would be to fence the play area off from the bushes behind it as our lot kept hiding in the undergrowth causing a bit of panic as we thought they'd disappeared.
All in all, a lovely, good value site, we'd have no hesitation in returning.

My family visited this site for the first time, we stayed for a week and we thought the site was lovely, we were looking for a regular weekend campsite and thought this was ideal. The play area for the children was good and the pitches were all in good view of this. The toilet block was lovely and clean. I thought it was fantastic that they also provided a bath, this made life a lot easier for us as my daughter hates having showers so that was a relief. We enjoyed our stay at the campsite, however there were a few problems we incurred whilst staying, the main factor has to have been the wind! Because the campsite is situated on top of a hill it was extremely windy, there was quite a few times we thought that the tent was going to go array, but thankfully it didn't. I think more wind breaks would have done the job extremely nicely around the tenting pitches. The ground is also very rocky, this makes things quite difficult to put up the tent quicker (especially whilst trying to hold it in the wind!). But overall it was nicely placed between Malton & Pickering. The shops were easily accessible which was nice. The campsite had a well stocked shop on the site which was extremely handy incase you forgot to bring anything with you, even toys were available for children. Overall we really enjoyed staying at the campsite, however we are still unable to decide whether to return due to the wind situation.

Once again thank you Derek and Carol for a lovely stay, from the Wilson and Murphy party I would recommend this site to you all on here but only on the understanding that you queue up after us! Ours were two big tents which were accommodated brilliantly as this site does not have set pitches which is fab. The site is well placed for everything. The local supermarket (Morrison's) is in Malton which is not too far away and there is a local chippy and pub only five or so minutes away in the car. This site is a well run family site for both caravans and tents, so rowdy campers need not apply for space! I can't criticize this site in any way as it is just perfect, superbly clean and the view is to die for. Well done and keep my pitch for May and August as you promised!

We stayed at this site on the recommendation of the other campers that have used it. Wow we were not disappointed, Derek and Carol can not do enough to please you. Showers and toilets are first class. The campsite has wonderful views, site shop is well stocked with day to day things that you need. The owners ring up places to find out information if you are not to sure whether you can take dogs etc. Playground is good for the kids, and the dog walk is also good. Brilliant site, will definitely go back again. Marks out of 10 I would give 20.

Very pleasant owners good toilet block and showers very clean but out of the way of everything on top of a hill. Very windy, very hilly and very small, decent walks and a quiet policy at night. Had a small park for under 8s good for families with small children not botherd about leaving the site.

This is the first camping trip we have been on as a family and stayed just one night. Brilliant site, helpful owners and great facilities. Clean toilets/showers and even a big bath if needed. Beautiful views of North Yorkshire, on site shop had all we needed and more and childrens play area fab for keeping the kids busy whilst we pitched the tent. Will definitely go back!
