We've just returned from a weekend at the Wolds Way. I thought it was a nice campsite with plenty of space for the kids to play in the centre of the tent field.
The 4 men's showers were OK - plenty of hot water, and not huge space available in the shower but fine really. It would have been nice to have a bigger lobby area with a seat to put things on as the available hooks in the lobby filled up quickly.
The mens toilets were a bit whiffy (and I'm told that so were the women's) so these could perhaps do with a little more attention.
The kids play area was great for my 2 girls (10 and 5) and my 14 year old son played football on the field.
We had an electrical Hook up which was great.
The shop was really good value (e. G. 90p for 2 pints milk) and we were allowed to put a gooey chocolate birthday cake into the shop fridge to stop it melting in the tent (Thank you)
It's a short drive to the coast - we went to Whitby, which was about 45 mins, but this wasn't the closest bit of coast.
We didn't really have the time or the weather to enjoy the site or area as much as we would have wished so may well be coming back to this area again.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Wolds Way. After reading the reviews on here we were really looking forward to the fantastic facilities we had read about. However, we have arrived home somewhat disappointed.
The site was very full with a mixture of tourer caravans and tents. On an evening the site was still very noisy right up to 11. 30pm.
The facilities were the biggest disappointment - the toilets were very smelly and were not cleaned as regularly as they should have been at such a busy time.
The showers were mostly broken or blocked to overflowing. Cleaning equipment which was available to do a 'quick mop up' after yourself was very poor. There were no hair dryers in the shower area (these are essential when in a non-electrical hook up tent as it is cold on a evening after showering).
The day we arrived it was very wet and we used the tumble dryer (£1 for 30mins) but our clothes were not much dryer £3 later.
The site staff were very friendly and helpful if you were an adult but seemed to have a few issues with the children on the site. The play area is small but fine for younger children. As the site was full the space was limited for the older children who wanted to play football.
Our children aged 10, 12 & 13 called into the shop to ask about the lamb feeding but were asked to 'leave' as they had no money to buy food to feed the lambs.
On a positive note - the views were fantastic and the location good for reaching the East coast. The shop was good and not too expensive.
I think this site is ideal for people with touring caravans - however we will not be returning to sleep under canvas. If the facilities had a makeover and were kept clean then this would be as good as previous reviews but alas it was not to be!

We have just spend three nights at this campsite and booked it after reading the fab reviews. We had a tent pitch without eletric. Our overall impression is that this site is over rated.
The good points:
There is no road noise
There is a well stocked shop
The washing up facilities are undercover
The views are great
The site is well placed for the east coast or if you fancy working.
The bits we did not like
The facilities were modern but some of the showers were broken and not always warm.
The facilities were not cleaned during our stay they were only cleaned when we were leaving. A bit annoying when this is the last place you visit before leaving.
There is a lack of bins and water points.
We have been to many campsites and there has always been a hair dryer. Not at this site. I don, t want one for vanity reasons but it does get cold when you and young children are walking across the field with wet hair.
It seems that the site caters more for caravans and that it what the owners are interested in.
We were disappointed after reading so many reviews and did wonder whether it was just us, however speaking to others it seems that they too were also of the same opinion.

My Family and I have just spent a fantastic weekend at this site. From the moment we arrived and was shown to our pitch by friendly and helpful staff, we settled right in.
The shower and toilet block were excellent and well maintained and the family room had a fridge freezer, 3 microwaves and a coffee machine for people to use.
The site itself had stunning views and the kids loved feeding the farm animals.
As has been mentioned in previous reviews is the use of rock pegs, I would agree with this and was very glad I had bought some specifically for this trip.
All in all we had a brilliant time and will definitely be coming back

Have had another two week stay at Wolds Way and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Once again everything was clean, lovely constant hot water and very reasonably priced shop all run by friendly and hard working staff and owners.
We chose to go on the campers section this year where we met a group of disadvantaged young people having a short break with their leaders.
The young ones were polite and well mannered and it was obvious their group leaders were caring people who did a really good job in keeping everyone busy and occupied because the weather was bad.
There were some wet days during our first week so we didn't go far but it was nice to watch parents playing ball games and bike riding with their children.
Our second week was brighter so we did our touring then. This site is central for so many places.
If we are not back again next year then it is only because our family want us to go south with them for a change.

This campsite was fantastic! Owner was very helpful, he gave us our pitch but electric hook up was to short so we asked for a pitch closer, which he had no problem with.
Also, our car battery was dead so he lent us jump leads.
Toilets very clean and also a bath which was great for the kids. Was quite windy as it was on top of a hill.
Lovely bike riding baths just by the campsite including mabie forest and dalby.
A little park for the kids, also not far away from flamingo land. Very quiet on night time, couldn't fault this campsite, worth the money.

Just back from a lovely (but very, very wet) weekend at this great site.
This was our first return to camping after about 4 years off and we were pleasantly surprised by the facilities on offer - family bathrooms and easy access bathrooms, a family room with microwaves and toasters all kept clean and tidy by the excellent staff.
Well kept, clean & tidy site, dog walk by the side of the site (part of the Wolds Way for those feeling more energetic) only slightly let down by some noisy people on the Saturday night (despite the 11pm quiet rule).
Definitely would go back again.

We (me, hubby, and kids 14, 12 and 9)have just returned from the best weekend of camping we have ever had the place is simply stunning.
The showers are hot and clean, the shop and reception area well stocked. The staff are helpful an friendly and welcoming.
The area is packed with loads of stuff to do, if you want, but we found a lot of plans went out the window as the kids wanted to stay and feed the lambs and explore the site !
The area is well known to us anyway so that was fine buy us. Just one word of warning the ground is rock hard so take plenty of rock pegs as the normal ones you get with the tent just wouldn't go in, however that wouldn't stop us going again, in fact try stopping us!

Just returned from a great week at this campsite. We arrived on Bank Holiday Monday and although busy, there was space for our large tent. The site is very easy to access, being just off the A64, but was very quiet with no road noise due to the fact it was about 1 mile down an access road.
My children loved the play park and spent many hours exploring the campsite. The tents were positioned around the around side edge of the field leaving space in the middle for ball games.
My 7 year old loved being able to help feed the lambs.
Very well positioned to explore the surrounding area, being about 20 minutes from the East Coast and 15 minutes from Eden Camp and about 30 minutes from York.
The on-site shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The shower/toilet facilities were always clean and well maintained. Even though we stayed there over May half term, and the site was almost full, we didn't have to wait for the toilets and showers. Very impressed that there were baths and disabled showers.
My only criticism is that the easy access bathroom had a step into the shower so might prove difficult for some people.
The dishwashing facilities were great. Limitless hot water. There was also a fridge/freezer for campers use. Also available was a TV and freeview box and a microwave. There are laundry facilities too, but we didn't need to use them.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the owners and staff. Whilst we were there, they helped to move caravans around and jump start a car. They even provided directions when the route home was blocked.
It is a very popular site and I can see why! My children can't wait to return.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of the half term holidays. This was our second camping trip and we were very lucky with the weather once again lots of sun shine!
The site is lovely and clean, with a great atmosphere. We didn't ever have to queue for shower/toilets and the 3 baths are great for family's with young kids.
The kids fell in love with the lambs, and both had a turn at feeding them!
The site location is great as only 30 mins from the coast, and other attractions are much closer too.
We didn't cook our own meals this time and used the local pubs, we went about 5. 30 and they where never busy.
Wish we could have stayed longer!
The washing up room is very warm and free use of microwaves, freezer, fridge and TV.
