August 2005 Just arrived back from a week's stay at Wolds Way. What a lovely site. Very peaceful with fantastic views. Very spacious pitches. The toilets and showers were really great, extremely clean, lots of hot water and plenty of soap and toilet rolls!! And there's even a bathroom which is great if you have young children. The owners, Derek and Carol, couldn't possibly be more helpful. A good play area and football pitch (our children are 9 and 8) ideal for their age. A good shop which sold the essentials and very nice locally produced produce, our kids loved the shop as it sold penny sweets too. The Dawney Arms pub in nearby West Heslerton does great food. We'll definitely be going back to this site soon.

August 2005 We have just returned from a weekend at this campsite. Derek and Carol made us all feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. It seemed as though they must have gone around other sites noted their bad points and made sure there site didn't have them. Large flat pitches, everything immaculately clean, large playing area for kids, ample hot water, tents near to washing facilities. We will definitely visit again. Our only concern is that any other campsite we visit may be a disappointment in comparison.

July 2005 Just back from our summer holiday (3 sites visited) of which Wolds Way was just a brilliant site, its like camping on top of the world with the view you get. As has been said before the toilets / showers / laundry & washing up area are immaculate (has to be seen to be believed).
Good play area for the kids and plenty to do in the area (recommend Eden Camp if you are into the Second World War but allow at least 3 hrs there). Carol organised a pony ride for my wife and daughter nothing is too much trouble for them.
At the road end if you turn left for York & the first village you come to The Horse & Coaches do great meals. This is a site not to be missed.

July 2005 Well, where do I begin. Derek and Carol Watson who run the campsite are the most helpful, pleasant and welcoming people I have met!! The facilities are spotless, and the shop is well stocked. There are no rules to stop children playing and nothing is too much for Derek or Carol. Unfortunately the British summer weather let us down and our tent was flooded. Still, the Watsons smiled while helping us find a local B&B, they even telephoned round themselves saving us the hassle!! We will be visiting this campsite again (obviously hoping the weather is a bit better!).
Worth a mention is a nearby pub and restaurant called the Ham and Cheese. This has to be the best meal ever served in a public house. Huge portions all cooked from fresh produce - none of the usual pub grub here!! Again run by a family who were very welcoming!! If you are looking for a well run, clean, and pleasantly surrounded campsite - Wolds Way is the one for you!! Everyone we met in the local area was pleasant and helpful. Thanks once again to Derek and Carol - we will see you next year.

June 2005 This site is beautiful. There is a seperate play area for the kids and plenty of room to run around. The shower area is immaculate and there is also a seperate bath which is great for families. The wash up area is huge with plenty of leaflets of the surrounding area.
The views from this site are stunning and there is plenty of wildlife to look for. We saw hundreds of rabbits, skylarks, swifts and even an owl! I would definitely stay at this site again.

May 2005 If you are walking the Wolds Way and intending to camp, this site is an absolute must. The superb facilities include a washing machine, dryer and shop (and the latter are few and far between on the Wolds Way route itself), making it ideal for the backpacker looking for a temporary oasis of luxury or instead as a base from which to take in several legs of the route.
We have just completed the Wolds Way as a family and used this site as a base for a whole week. Whilst the drives necessary in the early stages were quite lengthy, the location is ideal for the second half of the journey if using two vehicles.
The quiet, pleasant surroundings and immacculate facilities, combined with the support of the owners who really could not do enough to help, most definitely added something quite special to our Wolds Way experience.

May 2005 Just arrived home having spent six days camping on this site with children, grandchildren and friends. Could not fault the site or the owners' hospitality. Showers and loos top quality and well-designed, pitches probably the largest we have ever encountered during 35 years of family camping in Europe.
The space gave the children the freedom to ride their bikes, play ball etc without fear of upsetting neighbours and the access to good walks and cycle rides for all standards (and ages!) was super: we only used the car twice - once to go to Malton market and once to eat out at the Danway Arms in West Heslerton, where the food and welcome were first class.
Would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for peace and quiet(no traffic noise) and good walking, cycling and sight-seeing. Am sure we shall be back.

May 2005 We are regular trailer tent users with 3 children. We can only say we wish all sites were as good as Wolds Way. Nothing was too much trouble for Derek and Carol. They provide service second to none. The site is set high on a hilltop, with spectacular views and fantastic walking countryside. It is a lovely quiet site, very well thought out and impeccably maintained. Loads of space for the kids to run around in a safe environment. There is also an adventure play and pop-up goals for football provided!
The toilet and shower facilities are immaculate, (some hooks by the wash basins to hang your coat, towel, etc whilst washing and shaving would be the only improvement I could suggest). Everything has been thought of, even a bath for young children has been provided. Also good quality toilet paper and hand washing soap was always available. The site is well situated for the local places of interest. All the shops you need can be found in Malton(about 5 miles) or closer.
There is loads to do in this area for kids even on Rainy days. York has a great park and ride facility which is cheap and kids are free. Fantastic site, stunning sunsets, we will definitely be back!

May 2005 We have been camping as a group with dogs, kids, tents and caravans for two seasons now and this site is by far our favourite. Your hosts Carol and Derek are salt of the earth couple nothing too much trouble always happy to help.
The pitches are larger than average immaculately kept, there is a small park for the kids with two small goal posts for both the small and large boys on site, acres of open spaces with too many short and long walks to count.
There is a beautiful wood to walk in, the shop is well stocked with essentials and has lots of locally produced produce. The shower block is immaculate with a bath in the ladies for families with small children or just to soak away the days grime. The views from the site are breathtaking, uninterupted for miles.
We are booked on again for next bank holiday and really looking forward to it. Happy Camping to you all (Purvis)

May 2005 We have just come home from this site, and what a lovely site it is. The owners were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The kids loved all the room they had to run around in and just be kids, the idea of a seperate area for playing games etc is fantastic. I cannot fault the toilet block, it was always immaculately clean and it was lovely to see a bath in there too. The pot washing room is huge with information leaflets to browse through if you have to wait for a free sink. This is a site we will definately return to in the not so distant future.
