May 2005 What a great site, who could ask for more, plenty of space for everyone and everything. Facilities were first class. The manager and his wife were great people and treated us like old friends. The wildlife was stunning and Dereck said that the RSPB were doing a survey on the site so it will appeal to the twitchers. We were treated to the songs of Skylarks all weekend. Site is very well drained we had a thunder storm when we were there and it drained off straight away so no problems with mud at all. Will be going back there as we left our van there to collect next week stored in a locked building for £1:00 a night

May 2005 What can I say that hasn't already been said about this site? You'd never believe this site's only been open a year. The place is immaculately laid out, the facilities are beautifully clean and modern. There's plenty of space on the main field, where you're pitched in the middle surrounded by permanently pitched 'vans. There's plenty of (16amp) hook ups too. Derek & Carol really have created a site that's a pleasure to stay on! From the stunning views down into the valley, to the kids play area, to the picnic benches by the site entrance. If you pick just ONE site for a visit this season, this one should be VERY high on your list. 5-Stars. brilliant!

May 2005 Have just returned from this site and couldn't wait to post a review!! What a great site, one and a half miles up to the top of a hill(not over steep) and you pass picnic tables sat on lawn quality grass looking out over a fantastic countyside panorama. Turn the corner and into the site..lush grass with areas of pitches named such as rabbit run, robins way, oak tree etc all with pitch markers shaped in wood to depict the areas name. We stopped at the reception office (also doubling as a well stocked shop (without hiked prices) and were greeted by Derek the owner as though we were long lost friends. We paid our £12.50 per night(caravan 2 adults 1 child(under 10) with awning and dog, and went off onto our pitch(which was massive). To the rear of the reception was the pot wash area,a massive double glazed room big enough to host a party!! spotlessly clean and tidy. In the corner were 2 large gas bbq's which were available to use to campers! Behind that were the toilets and showers(and a bath in the female area)just as clean as the potwash area and warm.
The site has a large area aside from the pitches for ball games kite flying or whatever you like to do with your family and often can't because there is never enough room. There is also a wooden adventure play area for the kids. Had only 2 small niggles there apeared to be no passing places on the road up to the site and the road was a bit loose but when I chatted to Derek heassued me that there were passing places and that he was aware they were not very obvious and was going to mark them and also plans were in place to put a tar surface on the road to stop all the loose stones sometime this year.
This site has only been open for a year but it has been well thought out for all concerned. I will be back but I think I better book a few times for the next couple of years as when the word gets out about this jewel in North Yorkshire, spaces will be hard to come by!

May 2005 Arrived at the site on Friday night for the Bank holiday weekend. Site is situated 1.5 miles up a track, what a view when you finally reach the top. The site is well set out if a little stony, take plenty of spare pegs. The new facilities are spotless with hand wash and soft loo roll. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us.
The only complaint was the lack of water in the showers when they got busy at about 8.30. (Try and get in before 8am) The owners said it was down to the number of users. We were told to wait 10 mins. Not a lot of good when you are in the shower covered in soap and freezing!. We were told they had plans for another shower block at the other end of the field. Hope this improves it.
Otherwise a nice site. Plenty of space for the kids to play and lots of walks nearby. Only 17 miles from Scarborough. Would deff go back again.

March 2005 Just returned from the Easter Break camping. This was a newly opened site last May I understand, what a beautiful site, wonderful views from the site, lots of great walks all around the site. The best thing that impressed me was the size of the pitches... plenty of room to sit around outside your tent, this was a major plus for us.
The new toilet and shower block were very impressive, they were free with plenty of hot water, and plenty of room to get dressed, there was also a private bathroom to use which you didn't have to pay for, this made a nice change, and a nice disabled suite too.
This site has lots of personal touches right down to the soft loo roll, it has been well planned out, so you're not right on top of other campers, and not overfilled, many owners tend to cram as many people in as they can at busy times.. but not this one.
There was also a large shop area which stocked the basics, milk.. bread.. etc. I assumed this was to get much more varied stock as the site got more and more established.
It is in a good location, only about 6 miles from Malton which I recommend. Nice cafe bar called Wills is a must and pickering was only a few miles away too.
The site was immaculate, no litter to be seen anywhere, the owners were very friendly and extremley helpful, nothing was too much trouble, Derek was a real blast, you really felt comfortable knowing you were in safe hands.
Will definately be back, hopefully in the summer when the weather is better. A truly refreshing change.

September 2004 Just got back from a wonderful weekend break. Thanks to UKCampsite.co.uk I found this perfect little site. The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. This is the ideal place if you want some peace and quiet. It has the advantage of being fairly central for a range of places of interest with York, Scarborough, Filey and the fantastic moorlands all within half an hour away. We will be back soon to stay longer and use this idilic retreat as our base. As this is the sites first season, I would like to say 'well done' to Derek and Carol - keep up the good work.
