4 adults and 4 children (aged 3-6) visited Wolds Way and we were very impressed. Facilities are second to none, clean and plentiful toilets and showers and a well stocked shop with the essentials - including locally brewed real ale! We really liked the pitch where you like policy and the playground was a real hit with the kids. Great location too - we spent a day at Fosse Falls in the Dalby Forest - only 45 minutes drive.
Only negatives are having to queue to wash up at peak times (only two sinks) and because it is on a hill there is always wind.
All in all a great site, will be visiting again

Been several times before to Wolds Way using tents but this time we used a Dandy Destiny given to us by a relative. The pitch we were allocated was very large, level and well drained. The Dandy had been parked in the relatives garden for three years and was quite dirty so we set about cleaning it up. Within a few minutes someone (don't know what his job title is but I don't think he'll mind being called the site handiman) turned up with sponge, bucket and some miracle detergent for us to use which brought the trailer tent up like new. Big it up for him.
The site is at the top of a hill accessed by the sites own road, a mile and a half long off the A64, far enough off the beaten track to eliminate the noise from this very busy road. The office where you book in also contains a small shop which stocks all your basic essentials. Next door to this is a large room which contains 3 microwaves and a fridge plus two washing up sinks. Also in the same block are the showers, wash basins and toilets which are very modern and clean.
A fish and chip van visits on Saturday nights but we had already eaten at the chippie down at the bottom of the hill (biggest haddock you'll ever see). Malton is around 6 miles away containing all the usual shops including a large Morrisons. There's a host of popular attractions within easy reach. Flamingo Land is around 20 minutes away. The steam railway at Pickering is an excellent day out. A little further away, but not by much, lie Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington Filey, Robin Hood's bay and other such places.
Even if you just want to relax and chill out you needn't leave the site just sit at one of their picnic benches with a cold one and enjoy the spectacular views over the Vale Of Pickering We are storing our Dandy at Wolds Way and look forward to pitching up to this top class site as often as we can.

We stayed at this site over August bank holiday weekend. The owners gave us a warm welcome and showed us where everything was. Although the site was quite busy our pitch was a good size and wasn't too crowded.
The site has a good play area for kids with a slide, trim trail and tarzey.
The shower block had showers and even baths. We thought the shower block could have been cleaner and the showers kept going hot and cold, so not the best really. The mop bucket didn't have any water in it so was a bit useless!
There was a good dog walk on site with nice views over the surrounding countryside. The access to the campsite is not great. The first part of the road is ok but then the rest is every pot holey, not great for caravans at all.
My husband thought the cdp was very poor and not really up to the job.
The site shop was well stocked with local beers should the need arise.
We went to Eden Camp which was great and very interesting. Dogs are allowed there too which suited us. We also visited Scarborough on a hot day so we had fun.
We probably wouldn't stay at this site again as there are better sites in this area.

The site it up on top of a hill a good way up a single track with passing points. There are a lot of pot holes and missing tarmac from the road at the top near the house itself.
When we arrived on site we were shows the facilities which were good, handy having a laundry room on site, family bathrooms (although no baby change area), small shop etc.
We had to wait around 2 hours to use the family bathroom which contained the bath - perhaps putting another one in? This grew very annoying when trying to get my 2yo bathed after a day at the beach and to bed. The other time we came back and ended up bathing the children at 5pm before the rush started!
The toilets were ok, cleaned once in the 10 days we were there, wasn't always toilet roll in the morning. Showers were nice and hot and the changing areas ok. The mens loos smelled quite a bit that even my hubby and son commented on it and it could be noticed from the womens.
We enjoyed the fish and chip van on Saturday evening really handy after setting up. You WILL need hardstanding pegs, we bent all of our normal ones and even a few of the hardstanding pegs split.
The tent field has one wall of trees and if you pitch there (right next to the playpark and the toilet bock which has a floodlight on all night) then you will be sheltered, we were pitched near the other side of the field (as that's where there was space) and we had to pull the cars up alongside the tents, although that didn't stop the corner of my tent being pulled up by the wind or my cousins porch on her tent being taken off.
There were no football goals for the children, just a small wooden adventure playground area which bored my 7yo within a day, you could play on the tent field in the middle when there wasn't tents pitched up.
As there were no set pitches we could pitch where we liked but did find that there was no rule as to how far other tents were to be pitched away from you and we were uncomfortable coming home after a day out to find other peoples tents pitched far to close to our own. Also there are no fire buckets around the field at all.
There is loads to do around the site, we visited Scarborough, Yorkshire Lavender, Filey, The Scarecrow festival at Muston which the kids loved!
There are a few walks around the site itself although we weren't shown where these were, managed to find a small path to stroll down with the pram to get my daughter to sleep.
We asked for a block for the BBQ and ended up waiting 90 minutes despite giving 24 hours notice as well as reminding them and then still a 90 minute wait, not good when you have hungry children.
All in all it was an OK site to visit, but we wouldn't return to the site. For the money that we paid it was ok.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this site and we have already harassed the owners for another week. We have children and dogs who are well catered for. The site is well maintained, clean and the staff are friendly. The toilets and showers are 2nd to non, lashings of hot water, quilted loo rolls and plenty of hand wash. We don't use the kitchen area or barbeque area but it all looks lovely and clean. Fantastic views, super wildlife and great access to Scarborough. Local Morrisons at Malton and on the way into Scarborough. There are also a few eating houses and pubs on the main A64 and the chip shop van visits on a Saturday evening. My only criticism is the people who do NOT pick up after their pets! The serviced pitches were a god send. We also didn't realise the site locked it's gates at night and narrowly avoided getting locked out after a busy nights crabbing and badger watching. Lovely site, very reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back. Thank you very much.

This is a wonderful site, really warm welcome, when we arrived we were shown a number of pitches that we could choose from.
The facilities are immaculate really clean and tidy family bathroom was really good for us having two children all done in one go. The shop was small but had everything that I needed(forgot)
The playground was enjoyed by my ten yr old as well as my two yr old. He loved to have a look at the chickens too.
The mobile fish and chip van that came round on the Saturday evening was lovely after having a long day out at flamingo land.
Would definitely recommend this site and we will be sure to return.

The facilities are fab, the toilet block is wonderful. A nice kitchen with extra fridge, microwaves and toaster. (thoughtful)
There is a park for the kids and plenty of space for them

This is a very nice campsite located high above the Vale of Pickering. On leaving the A64 you immediately climb 120m to the site which does have glorious views although not directly from your pitch.
The site has a large number of seasonal pitches with the touring area in the middle. A mixture of tents and caravans arrived for the late May bank holiday and the site was pretty much full for the three nights. This put pressure on the infra-structure and we experienced power cut outs and unless you were up at 6. 30am there was no hot water. This was disappointing but as soon as the Bank Holiday had passed the site quietened down and we experienced no further problems.
One other minor criticism, there are kennels available that we had intended to use so that the family could visit Flamingo land, but on inspecting them we were disappointed that they were cramped and not at all secure so we didn't make use of them. We did discover however that dogs can enter Flamingo land although they are not permitted into the zoo area.
We had not visited North Yorkshire before and were impressed with the area. Whitby and Filey are lovely places to visit as well as Dalby Forest.
We would use the campsite again, the owners were very friendly but might steer clear of a Bank Holiday weekend.

We had a great long weekend over the bank holiday.
The site was lovely and clean with indoor washing up facilities, microwaves and fridge/freezer.
Toilets and showers were always clean and never had to wait for a shower. Also a bonus were the private bathrooms with baths.
We liked the site layout as it was a mixture of caravans and tents. The site was not large but that is what we like. The tents in the tent field were around the edges which left the middle free for the kids to play. It was good to have this area so near the tent. One problem with the site we encountered was that the electric hook up points were quite far from the tent and our lead was not long enough. The staff were very helpful though and provided us with an extension to use.
The site had access to lovely walks through woodland which were enjoyed by our dog very much.
There was a fish and chip van that arrived on Saturday evening which was popular.
Great location for Eden camp and Scarborough. Malton itself is a lovely little village with a morrisons for essentials.
All in all a great site and lovely people.

Stayed over the late bank holiday weekend and were lucky with the weather. The site is easily accessible (long driveway from the road) and has a playground and plenty of tree for the kids to play. We managed to get pitched far enough away from the toilets and play area so as not be bothered but close enough to be able to keep an eye of kids!
The toilet blocks were reasonably clean and the two family rooms have a bath and separate shower. The only down side for me was that the day I went to use the bath for my children it was dirty and the hot water had run out! Other than that we never had a problem and showers were clean.
There was a lovely walk to the Lavendar Gardens nearby which was nice but if you want to do it as circular walk you have to do some of on the verge of the main road (it is very wide so not too much of an issue).
There is a little shop and the pot washing facilities are in-doors where there is also a fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster for those in tents!
We would go back and did try on a number of occasions to make contact to book in for 2014 but there was never any answer and although messages were left there was never a response. Perhaps we'll try again this year!
