In March 2024, bought a touring caravan, which was for sale and stored on this site. My friend has had a permanent pitch for years and it was through her recommendation.
It's a great site. I can book online in advance or over the phone and my caravan is taken out of storage the day before and placed on a pitch which has electric and water. No specific time to arrive and given the caravan is put back into storage after my stay, no rush to pack up.
There are four showers for men (each with a toilet), a urinal area and a couple of separate toilets, which is limiting if it's busy. However, planning permission has been granted for further facilities. In addition to the aforementioned, there is a communal washing-up area with kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer, hot drinks and snack vending machine. A coin-op laundry is also available.
Location is good, just 17 miles from Scarborough and 15 minute drive to Malton. If you don't want to drive, the excellent TransDev Coastliner bus linking Leeds with the East Coast is on the main A64 road at the entrance to the site.
In nearby Rillington there's two pubs, a butchers, a fish and chip shop and a local shop/post office. There's also another pub in Scagglethorpe and West Heslerton. All do food and all are dog-friendly
Wolds Way site is dog-friendly (on leads) and the Wolds Way foothpaths are a five minute walk from the site.
There is free Wi-Fi but it is only around 4Mb. It does tell you it's not the best on the website. However, mobile phone coverage (currently 4g) is good and my mobile phone as a hotspot gave me 15Mb.

We got to this beautifully sited caravan site in the rain, but it did not stop us admiring the view and what we could see of it in the rain clouds.
It rained every day until the day we left which was beautiful and sunny. This did not hamper our break away, the campsite is well looked after, toilets and showers were lovely and clean, and warm.
We did leave the campsite a couple of times, one to visit the lovely town of Scarborough over on the coast and to visit the little town of Malton.
We also drove into the edge of York to go to an out if town place.
When you have a dog you limited by what you can do, though there are a lot more venues becoming dog friendly and we found the local pub Ham and Cheese was just that. The food was wholesome and the staff friendly.
Overall, apart from the weather, a good break away. Whilst the campsite is in the middle of nowhere, it is just off the main road, it is not too far to travel anywhere

In summary - a clean, tidy, quiet and relaxed campsite with stunning views. We stayed here for one night to test a new tent. We stayed a Saturday night during a heat wave, in school term time.
We actually only live a few miles up the road. We loved it and would definitely go back. Would recommend to families with young children and couples looking for a peaceful stay.
This place is exactly the type of campsite we enjoy. The facilities were basic but more than good enough for a quiet family camp site - they were clean and everything functioned as it should have done. It's not a disco-site, there are no kids-clubs or anything. It does have a basic play park where all the younger kids congregated and seemed to play nicely together.
To keep my views balanced - my only (and they are *very minor*) gripes are that the ground was very rocky and damaged some of our new pegs - but this is the nature of the local soils and rocks of the Chalk Wolds; and there were no hand towels in the dispensers in the toilet/shower cubicles, and only one hand drier in the urinals part of the loos.

An amazingly clean and well spaced out site even though it’s quite small.
Well stocked on site shop, lovely loos and showers that were very clean and very hot water and play park.
Amazing views and lovely helpful owner.

Lovely site, wonderful views.
We were very comfortable and had a great pitch,
The only drawback was no grey waste facility although we had a 'serviced pitch'.

The site is located on top of the Wolds overlooking the Vale of Pickering with excellent views.
There seems to be many caravans occupying permanent pitches, mostly unoccupied at this time of year so the site was very quiet.
The nearest bus stop is on the A64 about 1. 4 miles from the site so most people will need transport.
The shower and toilet facilities are excellent, as is the washing up room with plentiful very hot water. There is reasonable wifi over the site.
The site is right on the Wolds Way so ideal as a base for walking the northern sections of this beautiful walk.
I enjoyed my stay.

Excellent site, fantastic location with beautiful views. Great location for visiting Scarborough, York, Malton and Pickering.
Camping area is close to the facilities, toilet block area very clean and tidy.
Park for the kids is at one side of the Camping field.
Good spaced pitches with EHU.

Undoubtedly one if the best sites we have ever stayed on and definitely one we will use again.
Spacious plots, spotlessly clean facilities and the friendliest of people there.
The site warden is an absolute gem and can't do enough to help you, just like the owner, who is relaxed, welcoming and helpful.
Five stars all way round!
