Excellent site and will definitely be returning.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Great atmosphere on this site and met some nice fellow campers.
The toilets and showers are great and within a short walking distance wherever you pitch. The pitches are a good size and you can pitch where you like.
The weekend we spent here was wet and windy but did not dampen our spirits. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We have just returned from our first ever camping trip. We were met at reception by Will who gave us a quick introduction to the site and some free doggy bags !
We were trying to find a pitch away from the road as advised by other reviewers but obviously the other campers knew about this so we had to settle on the side by the road but although it was busy we can honestly say it didn't interfere with our sleep.
The site shower and toilet blocks were clean and we never had to queue, the washing up room was the same although when I was a bit late washing up the room was full of people and steam!
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have stayed another night but we had to return home as we had no-one to feed our cats for another night.
We will definitely be returning asap.

Just got back from 5 nights here. Lovely site and the facilities were always clean. Even on the right-hand side the road traffic can be heard enough for it to take a while dropping off to sleep, but apart from that, the only problem was the 20 minute walk into the village. I'm a reasonably fit 30-something, but couldn't make the nearest pub (Rose & Crown - lovely food!) in less than 15.

We stayed for 2 nights mid-week. The site is big, well laid out and staff were really friendly. Facilities are clean and were never too busy. There are lots of horses wandering around and the site looks out across a heathland, lovely views and access to cycle paths/walks.
The only problem we had was the road- it runs along the side of the site and is very busy and noisy; as we came via train it meant we had to walk along it to get to & from Brockenhurst (as there is no shop on site we had to do this just to buy essentials). It takes a good 15 mins and the pavement is quite narrow- it was a real pain. (However this is less of a problem if you have a car.)
Overall though it is a nice, calm, family-orientated site, and Brockenhurst is lovely with a good amount of pubs, cafes and shops.

Great site for a family, very helpful staff and facilities are faultless. The only issue we had is that it is not the quietest of sites, people tend to stay up till the early hours and it can be noisy with larger groups and unless you don't mind constant road noise choose a pitch on the right hand side of the site as you enter away from the road as it is still busy even in the early hours of the morning. One other point to consider, check the weather reports as a portion of the site floods so check with the gate staff who greet you when you first arrive to get some guidance as you choose your own pitch once on the site.

Well starting with reading other reviews, nearly everyone said what friendly, lovely, helpful staff. We completely agree. What a welcome. Brief info was given and then they came round after setting up to check that we were all ok. There were 11 of us 8 adults and 3 children, it was so nice for the children to be happy playing outdoor games and the best bit was them seeing the wild New Forest Ponies just roaming around freely. What was really nice to see was that everyone respected that we were on their ground.
The facilities were great, it was fully booked when we arrived and I never waited for the toilet and the toilets never ran out of toilet paper. I had to wait for the shower but only for a few minutes. The only thing I would say is that we are asked to mop out the showers after ourselves which is fine apart from it would be nice if we could also change the water and add a bit of disinfectant, sometimes the water was so filthy that on one of the mornings I didn't actually mop the shower out. But that is quite a minor point they were clean anyway.
The surrounding area is beautiful we were only there two nights so didn't eat out as it was such lovely weather we BBQ'd both nights. We only live about an hour and a half away anyway and often come for the day to the New Forest. I would definitely recommend the site and will definitely be going back. Make sure you book especially as the weather is getting nicer (or supposed to be!)

This was our first visit to Hollands Wood and we arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and had a nice pitch at the top right hand side of the camp site overlookng the fields. The staff were very friendly and informative and gave us information on which pubs would allow us to take our dog in to. The facilities were extremely clean and we regularly saw staff walking around picking up any stray litter.
My only gripe was when Friday came so did the hoards and what was a peaceful campsite turned into a children's playground and the local disco. A group of campers decided we all wanted to hear their 60's music and let us listen to it until about 1.30am! even though many people had shouted at them to be quiet.Perhaps if the staff enforced their rules a bit more everyone would be happy.
This is a camp site to be avoided at weekends if you want peace and quiet but visit in the week and it is lovely.

We spent a lovely week on this great site. We arrived on a busy saturday afternoon and found a nice pitch at the far end of the camp.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The camp went very quiet by sunday afternoon, we had an enormous amount of space to ourselves.
The washblocks were immaculate, although there was only one private wash cubicle in each block, so teeth were cleaned and ablutions performed in full view of toilet users, but that is a minor critisism.
There are several rules to follow but all with understandable reasons, although many people choose to disregard the windbreak rule.(one 6 poler per pitch) This is to prevent the wandering ponies feeling trapped and kicking their way out, we actually witnessed this happening to one multiple poled pitch, the trapped pony and foal lashed out and ripped windbreak and tent. I found the jackdaws more of a pain, I stupidly left half loaf of bread out while going to wash up and came back to discover a scene from 'The Birds' jackdaws everywhere!
There's immediate access from the camp to the many cycle and walking trails in the forest . There are also organised things to do, like the 'forest at dusk' guided walk.
The 'gentle 10 minute stroll' into Brockenhurst is along a busy road, (if there is another way we didn't find it). There are several pubs and eateries there, our favourite was the Foresters, nice food, Thatchers cider, friendly staff. A short drive or cycle away is the Beulieu Road Pub, good food, and the Oak Tree at Bank, also great food.
I would reccomend the mackarel fishing trips, great fun! and we barbecued the result the same night.
We will definitely go back to this super site.
The camp began to fill up again by Friday, and the weather changed for the worse, so leaving wasn't as painful as we thought!

This was our first ever camping trip and it was a great experience. We went on May Day bank holiday weekend so they were fully booked but the site never felt crowded. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly, well organised team, give lots of info on the local area and left to find our perfect pitch. There are 3 shower blocks on site, plenty for everyone there, tidy considering the volume of people.
The only warning I would give out the site was one of my favourite thigs about it - you will be in the very heart of mother nature. We were woken the first morning by a herd of cows trooping past the tent, and my boyfriend got a bit of a scare when the New Forest ponies came a bit close to the tent. But I think it's great to be right in the middle of thing.
The tent also needed a proper wiping down when we got back as the grass doesn't grow on the trees and the sandy forest floor kicks up in the rain. But only a minor thing.
The site is right in the centre of the New Forest cycle network (and despite hearing it was a bit limited we found it perfect for the 3 day break we were there) although beware the official cycle maps - they're awful, as acknowledge by a friendly park ranger who helped when we got lost.
Would strongly recommend this site and will definitely be back.
