Fantastic site, have stayed here 3 times now and just gets better. Great for forest walks and cycling. Shower blocks are clean, but you are asked to mop up after your self, which I think is fair enough. Always hot water. No camp shop as such, but they do sell ice and charge mobiles and laptops. There's a Tesco a short ride or walk up the road and a few other shops, try the butchers just down from Tesco in Brockenhurst for your bbq sausages and burgers, outstanding mmmmm. All in an excellent campsite for couples and families alike. Ohh but do beware of the the New Forest ponies that roam the site, they just love visiting you in your tent and pinching your grub, so keep it secure and any rubbish bags in the bin straight away lol. Most of all enjoy

We stayed here in June as part of a residential trip with 20 teenage students! It was perfect for them, with lots of space to walk around and explore. It was within walking distance of Brockenhurst village with has all the amenities you need, including a Tesco Express, butchers and camp shop. The surrounding area does get very busy on the roads so it is not so easy to get around in a car without hitting traffic jams! The showers etc were very claen and staff were friendly. There is road noise as on busy main road but I noticed this at night. I don't think I would stay here however if I wanted a peaceful break as there were quite a lot of groups there although they are kept to their own sections. Another downside was that although there are signs for dogs to be kept on leads there were some that were off leads running around and they weren't confronted by staff which did put me off.

A lovely forest site with good access to the New Forest for cycle rides (be warned however there is a small section of busy road that has to be crossed first and you have to use a main road to cycle into Brockenhurst).
The site is spread out and it is free-pitching. Toilet/shower blocks are adequate and there at least 3 dotted about.
Prices add up to make it quite an expensive site considering there are no extra facilities and there are extra charges such as £10 a night for a gazebo/awning! In all it cost me £87 for 3 nights for 2 adults and one child.
Lastly be aware that you cannot under any circumstances light any firewood not even a small twig. If you are caught doing so you will be evicted off the site without any say so. Bags of charcoal/household coal are ok to burn in an off the ground barbecue.

We've stayed here a few times over the last few years, it's a really nice site.
Used to stay at Roundill a lot but thought we'd go to Hollands wood for a change and have kept going back.
As with all Forest Holidays sites it basic but has everything you need for a short break. Showers were very good considering they are temp building sited every year. It was a quiet weekend not sure what they'd be like in the summer when it's busy.
The ground is quite hard to pitch on because of the twigs but it's nice being under trees rather than out in the open.
Great location for Brockenhurst 20 min walk to the pub and shops. Only down side is a bit of road noise nothing major and it's what you have to pay for being so close to the village and so easy to get to.

This was a 1st trip to this site, been to Holmsley before and was due to go to Holmsley again in July - this site is very different more enclosed within the trees of the Forest which was a very relaxing feel.
Surprised at the amount of ground there was, leads perfectly into the Forest for bikes.
Facilities were 1st class in my opinion, only thing I would of asked is for a Shower curtain in the the cublicle as well as being in a locked in cubicle - but Holmsley do the same
All Facilities are kept clean each day.
It is ideally situated for anywhere within the New Forest.
Enjoyed our stay, should think will return in the future.

Found this campsite fairly easy to find. Staff were really friendly at the gate. I loved the way you could choose where you pitched your tent once you arrived.
There were three large shower and toilet blocks which were clean and not too far. Washing up facilities were well kept and clean. Wild horses are free to roam around the campsite which is lovely to see, but dispose of any leftover food as the horses will try to get it! This site is lovely.
You pitch amongst trees and over looks a large field area. There is a small tesco and other shops in the local village which was handy. There are plenty of pubs around too. A really good place for cycling and walking as there is lots to be seen.
I found the new forest and this campsite very beautiful and cant wait to return.

Spent the early May Bank Holiday weekend at Hollands Wood. Awesome site. Really beautiful to pitch amongst trees rather that just in an open field.
Great to see the ponies wandering freely around the site and since it was spring, there were a few foals as well. We had a great time here and it is ideally situated to enjoy the New Forest. Amenities were fine and clean.
Washing up facilities could be larger as there was usually a queue for this but not really so long that it became an issue.
Keep food secure as the ponies are quite bold and one rooted around in our porch for something to eat.
Cycle and walking trails lead off from the campsite itself. Nearby Brockenhurst is a minute by car or about 20 minutes on foot. Short bike ride to Lymington which is a nice town with a marina.
I would thoroughly recommend this site and will definitely be going back some time.

My son and I have just returned home from Hollands Wood, after three fantastic days exploring the New Forest. The location was most suitable for us not driving as Brockenhurst Town, rail, bike hire, supermarket, etc, is approx' 15 mins on foot or 5 minutes on the bus!
All the more marvellous was our stay at this campsite - the showers were kept pristine clean, ponies freely grazing amongst the numerous oak trees, and the down to earth, affable and friendly staff (particularly K!).
Waking up (or rather being woken) to the Dawn Chorus - of what sounded like a thousand species of birds - was a chirping reminder of the beauty of camping in such a natural and sense stimulating environment.
This was not our first visit and certainly wont be our last!

Despite dreadful weather we had a great stay at Hollands Wood. We were pitched under trees in a great location. The ground was extremely hard and we had to buy rock pegs from the reception, so be prepared when you visit.
There was no shop or play area which would have improved our experience, however it is in a beautiful area and we certainly weren't short of things to do. The facilities were very clean and plentiful with no queuing.
We didn't encounter any problems with noisy neighbours as experienced by some, so I guess it really is the luck of the draw. All in all, a great break in a lovely campsite.

We stayed for 5 nights at this Forest Holidays site in Sept 2010. We were apprehensive about staying on such a large site (circa 500-600 pitches) but its location ticked the boxes.
It is approx 20 minute walk into Brockenhurst where there are 3 pubs (all of which do food), a Tescos Extra, butcher, bakers, barbers, camping shop, ironmongers (selling camping gas) and a selection of cafes and restaurants.
The site itself is wooded and you pitch where you want. On our arrival on a Thursday, the site was relatively quiet, with only approx 200 units on site. It did get busier over the weekend due to the International Autojumble taking place at Beaulieu.
We were advised to pitch on grass rather than dust however, following the school holidays, there was actually very little grass left! We pitched on the Balmer Lawn side of the site as recommended by previous reviewers but even then, there was a constant hum from the main road.
This didn’t appear to affect the wildlife as there was an abundance of birds, horses, ponies and cattle wandering freely around the site. We were advised to keep all our food locked in the boot of our car as the ponies would literally break into your tent to and eat anything sweet or savoury.
There were three toilet/shower blocks on site which were clean, well equipped, with free hot water and featured dishwashing and laundry areas.
However we chose to pitch at the top end of the site to avoid the crowds, and throughout our stay the nearest block was closed on a number of occasions due to “insufficient numbers” which was annoying.
Also annoying is that you cannot freeze your own ice blocks, but have to hire these from reception at a cost of £1 deposit plus 50p per block. I suggest you just buy bags of ice from Tescos like we did.
It did however feel that there were loads of rules and signs posted around the site about what you could and couldn’t do. Some rules were sensible, others seemed overkill, especially the rule about no den building (but that’s what kids do in a forest?!).
You can cycle direct from the site and there are ample off-road routes through the forest however you will need to take an OS map with you as it is easy to get lost and you cannot rely on the numbered markers!
I would recommend buying a Forest Holidays Experience Card. These cost £15p. A. And saved us £3. 50 a night on pitch fees plus gives you local discount and 20% off Go Ape nationwide. The nearest Go Ape is at Moor Valley Country Park - you need to book in advance to get the discount but it saved us £8 and I would highly recommend this activity – exhausting but so much fun!
