First visit to this site, very well run by friendly owners who never seemed to be off duty.
One off the cleanest sites I have been on. The toilet block was cleaned in the morning and again at night.
Very keen on recycling (good), bins emptied every day. Shop sells every thing you need and more, my other half went to buy some WD40 they had sold out so they gave him their own can, they really cannot do enough for you.
Our daughter is autistic and they were lovely with her, giving me the key code for the disabled shower room, and offering any help I may need.
Bus stop at entry to site for York or Selby.
River bus to york goes from the river at bottom of lane at the Naburn lock.
No play area, but lots of grassed area.
Lovely site with some sectioned off hedge areas, an adult only section and 2 large tent sites, one with electric hook up.
Large field for dog walkers at bottom of lane.
Only one major rule. Dead quiet after 11pm. Reasonable enough request I thought.
Handy base for visiting North Yorkshire, the coast and of course York. The Blacksmith Arms a short walk away do fantastic meals, and are super friendly.
Lovely people, lovely site.

Beautiful site just outside of york city centre with fantastic facilities and very friendly owners.
Bus service from the gates for people not wishing to drive into york and also a river boat from the locks that is reached by a short private road.
This site has everything that you need and is very very well kept.
A couple of small observations I would make are firstly the eco friendly hand dryers that are sited just inside of each toilet, as these toilets are usually left open when used the noise from these driers resonated around the site and is quite loud.
Secondly we all unfortunately live is a world of rules and regulations but when on holiday it is to kick back and drop out of this regimented regime so could the management think about turning down the number of mandatory and must do signs and maybe reconsider the bold and capitalised text used, it really makes you feel like a that school teacher is shaking her finger at you and telling you off, this thankfully never translated to the way the staff/owners behaved who were all very nice I might add.
Would definitely visit again.

Just returned from a weekend here, this is a gem of a campsite. I originally asked to be sited on the adults only section, this was full so we were shown to a pitch very close to the Reception and very clean shower block. It was so good we left the caravan there and are returning next Friday for a small charge!
The site is run with precision by Peter and Catherine (lovely lady with a great sense of humour). The buses run every hour to York from the entrance of the campsite and many campers made use of the water bus from the lock into York. Great dog walks and a very clean site. This is definitely a favourite of mine.

We stayed at Naburn Lock last week of June into July it was a fantastic well run site, clean and a credit to its owners. The camp shop had all the usual basics reasonably priced with daily papers if pre-ordered which is always a nice touch! Lovely dog walk along the canal with a huge field for the dogs to run in safely always a bonus!
We didn't check out the local pubs as not drinkers(only tea!) York outlet was worth a visit and we also did the York Citybus tour very informative and a handy way of getting around York city centre as parking was a no-no. We did go for a lovely Indian meal at Mumbai Lounge in York on our last night if you like good quality Indian cuisine and great service it's a definite must do whilst in the area!
Hi-lights- reasonably priced site with an adults only area and dog friendly. Also late checkout by 1pm was another bonus as it means you don't have to hitch up while still munching your cornflakes! Will we return? You bet we will!

This is a very friendly site, the owners were most helpful when we realised we had forgotten our electric hookup lead. They lent us one and would not take any money. We were situated in the adult only area, with 4 units in our block. We had plenty of room for our outfit and awning and were close to the facilities. The site is well kept with plenty of flowers and bushes, and the facilities are clean. There is a pleasant walk down the lane to a large field where we could exercise our dog, and a lovely walk by the lock, with friendly locals to talk to.
We used the park and ride for our trip into York, as this was not far and the service was frequent. There is plenty to see and do in the area. A Trip to Whitby is worthwhile, especially for the fresh fish and chips. You are told who caught the fish and when.
We would highly recommend this site.

Naburn Lock caravan site is a lovely caravan site by the river ouse, the location is idyllic and the owners who greeted us are a credit to their site, nothing was too much trouble for them. The toilet block was busy as the site was full for the b/h w/e but was clean and tidy the whole time, there is no play area for children and they also have a very nice adults ony area which is where we stayed
York is a very nice old City with some great architecture.
The pub in Naburn serves great beer and also great food, is dog friendly and very welcoming.
Would we return.
You bet we will even with a 6 hour drive to get there.

Lovely site, well kept, although the pitches are a little on the small side, the hedges on site separating the pitches could have been reduced in height so you do not feel so enclosed, but it did cut down on any noise.
The toilets are clean and on our visit were never busy.
The ferry into York is a lovely way to travel into the centre of York and a nice way to see the river.
The local pub is only a 15 minute walk down the road serving nice food, be warned portions are large, spare rib was a whole cow.

We stayed here a few nights for the first time. We have had this delightful site on our doorstep and didn't even realise. We will be returning in the near future with our friends and show them too what they have been missing out on. Nice friendly site with a segregated adults area for us oldies.
Good walks around the local villages and only 5 mins away from mcarthur glen designer outlet. The site is very easy to find only 5 mins off the a64. The site is clean and well kept and a little shop with all the usual nik naks etc. Only met the lady owner but had a nice natter (lovely lady). Cant wait to return :-)

Well where to start, we've been all over touring and apart from scotland (loch leven) this is the friendliest, most well kept, well stocked shop, cleanest, dog friendly site we have had the pleasure to visit! upon arrival I went into the fab shop to check in, I was then asked if we wanted family or adult only, we went adult only. You then follow a chap on a bike to your pitch, and he will stay with you until your happily in place. I started to set up and my EHU cable was too short, went to the shop to ask where nearest place to buy one was, lady said no bother here's one bring it back when you leave! The weekend was roasting so the wife went to the shop on the off chance of sun cream, she came back with sun block, aftersun and swingball! like I said fantastic shop. I got a gas refill there too cant remember price but was cheap. Our Labrador is very well behaved and we played fetch a few times round our pitch, loadsa room and no one complained infact another couples dog joined in. All dogs are to be walked (pooped) off site, there is a lovely long walk down by the river passed the lock. Brill site, cant fault one bit, where back in September for the balloon festival. Get booking and enjoy!

Just returned from our second visit to this site, the first was in August 2011. And we were not disappointed, the site is perfectly placed for York and surrounding area. Well kept toilet and shower facilities with plenty of hot water. Loads of information on site with bags of space to pitch up. The reception / shop sells the usual essentials. Brother in law and his family visited us for the day and were that impressed with the site their off to G. O to get a tent and pay a visit
Walked to York again on the old railway line and returned on the river boat which stops at Naburn Lock and Acaster Malbis £26 family return or £20 family single, only runs once a day to and from KIngs Staith (near Kings Arms). Did the original Ghost Walk from Kings Arms, an intresting and funny way to spend the evening through the narrow back streets and alleyways of the old town
Last day woken by a strange noise and when emerging from our tent found a hot air balloon taking off from our field.
A beautiful site in great location. Could not fault it !
