A Fantastic site!
We stayed her for 2 nights in March at an owners club meeting. We found the site to be well organised, clean and set in beautiful surroundings.
Toilet/shower block excellent. Regularly cleaned and maintained.
The site insists on a quiet after a certain time at night. This works really well.
We loved staying at Naburn lock. The lock is within walking distance of the campsite. There are some lovely walks to enjoy if you have a dog.
The pitches are large and there is plenty of room for children to run about.
There is a bus stop right outside the site which allows easy access in to York and the Designer Outlets is just up the road.
Overall this is a quiet, beautiful site.
If I was to add a area for improvement it would be that the site offers no playpark and does suffer from a little road noise. Saying this both of these things did not spoil our stay. In fact we will be returning again. We loved how organised the site was eg, recycle bins, security, well spaced out pitches, well stocked shop, regular cleaning in the shower/toilet block, quiet times, different areas for tents/motorhomes etc.

Just back from our second visit, nice welcome from Catherine and Peter. Really like this peaceful site, lovely walks, bus to York from the gate, pub 10 min walk.
On the downside, hardstandings too steep and electric points can be a long way from pitch.
Site owners now have some lovely white fluffy hens which roam the whole site, a reason to visit themselves.
Will be back.

Nice campsite with plenty of room, we were greeted by the husband and wife comedy duo which made us instantly feel at home!
We were given a choice of pitch which was great as it was the weekend of the royal wedding and busy. Opted for a nice quiet corner out of the wind but unfortunately shaded from the sun (you can't have both I suppose)
Facilities were very good and kept clean at all times. Even though it was busy and there were many children it was quiet and peaceful. Good location near the river but don't be fooled by 'River Bus' it's a boat trip not a bus and only goes once a day to York, leaving at 9. 30 in the morning.
The lock is interesting but was closed when we were there. The pub in the village is about 25 mins walk away on the grass verge and it has a good menu with a separate one for gluten free meals! What a relief!
Bus stops right outside the site for trips to York, definitely a site to go back to.

Nice well kept site staff 1st class only bad point that is not down to the site itself was people not following the rules and letting there dogs roam free and not cleaning up after them. This was only one night from someone visiting and staying over.
Fish and chips from the van that came on Saturday slow service but worth the wait the fish was really good.
Over all pleasant stay in good spot for york and cycling.

Lovely site, we have had a great week.
The site was well organised with the owner showing us to the pitch and providing leaflets of local facilities etc. It had everything we needed and we liked the river walk down by the lock.
We also used the park and ride after the advice on these reviews which was great and for kids had a great time on the York River Boats, Bettys Tea rooms and the York Illuminations.
It would be good to have a small play area for kids however we knew it didn't have one when we booked so this is only a recommendation.
Would visit again - nice site.

At the time we went to Naburn lock it was lovely and quiet on the site. Possibly down the the time if year too as we were the only main tent in the field apart from a little tent which left the following morning after we arrived. We found the pitches ok. Staff very friendly. We did have electric hook up which helped for the time of year for heating and lighting,
There is only one main toilet block which has about ten toilets I think off the top of my head and also 3 shower cubicles all of which was always immaculate, cant fault the showers other than having to press button every 20 seconds or so to keep the water on. Which you have to contend with at most sites. So nothing unusual about it, just a bit frustrating when trying to wash hair, but the water was always hot.
Grounds around the site were lovely, prob even more so in summer. Nice to see wildlife wandering around in park.
The only two negative things I would have to say about this site.
Firstly is the lack of lighting on the site entrance, it is pitch black at night, we got off the bus outside the site. And couldn't see your hand in front of you.
If there was a sign board was put up and lit up on the main road, this may be better for site users who've not been before, to spot the entrance as you could easily miss it. If you need to walk along the road side maybe at night, I would suggest you wear bright clothing or something reflective and maybe carry a small hand torch. There is a rough path along the roadside. But not very good for maybe wheelchair users etc, if supposing you were to visit the local pub which is about 15 mins or less walking distance from site,
The pub itself does superb meals. And local beer. We enjoyed two nights along the for evening meal.
The park and ride is about 2 miles away and is great for a rainy day, you can also get bus directly outside the campsite which is good to go into york town centre.
The Second thing unfortunately is the lack of sound barrier from tent field, it was a little noisy from traffic along the road, as there is only a small hedging between where we pitched our tent and the road. It can get quite noisy, especially early on a morning and around tea time during the week. I would expect if you were to stay in caravan the noise from traffic wouldn't bother you as it has more of a barrier built up on other side of site for caravans.
Probably the only other thing is you do have a bit of a walk to get to toilet block if you are pitched at far end of tent field in summer months. But well that can alleviated if you have a porta potti toilet with you.

The owners, Catherine & Peter can't do enough for you. For instance when we arrived and found we left our leg winder at home, they lent us one, also when I needed some tin foil to line my grill they had none in the shop so Catherine went into her home and got me some.
The pitches are well spaced and all have electric hook up as far as I could see. The park is in a beautiful setting just a few minutes walk from the River Ouse and the weir and lock gates, a lovely walk along the river bank if that's your choice.
The site facilities are very good, the toilet/shower block is kept very clean, the shop well stocked and a dead quiet policy between 11pm and 7am (apart from the wildlife) which seems to be well observed makes for a peaceful nights sleep.
The local pub, The Blacksmiths Arms is about 15 minutes walk away they do lovely food and drinks are very reasonable, but I would recommend a torch for the return journey when dark as the road isn't lit after you leave Naburn village.
All in all a great site and we will be back.

The owners were very helpful when we rang, we needed two motorhome pitches and were welcomed with of course we will get you pitched together, so pleasing to hear a co-operative voice.
On arrival we were escorted to our pitch and although not a fully serviced facility the numerous water points dotted around the site made it very easy to fill up while pitched up [obviously a longish water hose is helpful!], a motorhome service point is also available on site.
The site is broken down into sections with hedging between each, this gives an impression of being on a smaller site, rubbish and recycling facilities in ever section, another nice touch.
Position to York is not really walkable at 4miles each way but the bus stop immediately outside the front gate is brilliant, not only that, the leaflet presented to you on arrival also has the bus times printed inside.
Dog walking facilities are really good, out the back of the site to the locks, onto the river path and you can walk for miles, there is also a huge field at the rear of the site accessible from the locks where you can also walk dogs.
Didn't get to try the pub so can't comment but York is a treat, plenty to see, plenty of places to eat.
Site shop is very nice, lots of local produce including the fattening things we all enjoy.
Shower and toilet facilities are really good, but have one comment that the shower cubicles are a tad on the small side, one small minus but plenty of pluses. Will love to return.

We have visited this site on numerous occasions the site owners are very friendly and the toilets are clean and tidy you can even listen to the radio whilst in there.
There is an adult only section to the site which we find a plus in the summer time if you want it quiet. The dog walk down to the river is very pleasant even if you don't have a dog.
The Blacksmiths Arms serves good food and real ales and there is a bar soley for dog owners, and they also sell fresh fruit and vegetables.
The only downside is the price of the bus fare to York unless you are of the age where you have a bus pass and also if you wanted an evening out in York the last bus back is quite early in the evening.

An excellent site, really well kept and maintained. It feels smaller than it is because it is broken up with hedges, which is nice. The facilities were excellent and we were given a really useful leaflet on arrival which listed things like local pubs and takeaways, doctors, vets, parking and public transport for York - I wish more sites provided something as helpful as that. York itself is wonderful and we will definitely be back.
