This is an excellent campsite and easy to get to if only using Public transport. We arrived via a short bus trip for about £4 for an all day ticket from York City that runs every hour, although Sundays is limited.
The local pub is excellent with a carvery every Sunday and other meals most days.
The pitch was excellent considering the heavy rain in the area and the owners helpfully directed us to a good spot. The site has a well stocked shop but it only opens a couple of hours each day so make sure you get any essentials while you can - we were lucky and got the last BBQ just in time!
There are not many shops in Naburn itself but not too far away is Iceland for Burgers/beer etc. We got a taxi there and back for a total of £12, although it took a while for the taxi to arrive, probably due to the rural location.
The campsite is well worth visiting, extremely clean, free showers and the basic tent pitch was cheap at a £6 per night.

Stayed here for a long weekend, really lovely site not far from York. Beautiful location next to the river and the locks. Toilets/showers clean at all times and lovely listening to 'Minster FM' as you showered.
Bus into York stopped right at the camp entrance and took just under 15 minutes or alternatively drive to the Designer Outlet for Park & Ride which is a bit cheaper. The Blacksmith Arms in the village is a 10-15 min stroll away and they serve hearty meals including a Steak BBQ n Buffet on a Sunday Evening.
The site owners are very friendly & welcoming and managed the site well especially as they had just had some of the worst storms in years and half the site was still under flood water.
I would definitely recommend this site to others and would have no problem staying here if I venture this way again.

This is the first time we have visited this area. I found this site by using the UKCampsite.Co.Uk search and I am so pleased I visited it. The site is several miles out of York centre, however, the river Ouse is a short walk down a path from the site and the Locks / river boats are there, they do a daily river taxi style trip leaving at 10am un til 4pm, this took 50 mins and the children loved it.
The site is well laid out on grassy/flat pitches, they have an adults only field and family field which I thought was a good idea, we were travelling with a 2 and 3 yr old. There is no play area on site, however, I have to say that it is one of the nicest sites I have stayed on.
The showers were spotless with piped music and the reception had a small but well stocked shop selling newspapers and essentials. The owners were really friendly, I had originally booked the site for easter and had to change it to May bank holiday because of work committments, this was no problem and they did not charge me for this which I was surprised about.
I would visit this site again it is lovely and the owners deserve credit where credit is due! Great value too considering it was bank holiday. Nothing to complain about only the weather, it rained non stop from Sat night to Monday, but, the designer outlet village came to the rescue for a bit of retail therapy!

Tentastic! What a fantastic site. We went without EHU and we made the right choice. We were in the far field where you only pitch around the perimeter, which leaves a big area for your kids to play with others. No play area, but you dont need it here. Showers and toilets were cleaned regular and local radio while your in there is great. Really good well stocked shop. Owners are great and dont allow over crowding or noise between 11 and 7. Nearby Lock is stunning and river taxi into York is well worth it. Local pub is good and only a short walk away and is family friendly. They also do take out pizza should you want a rest from cooking. Aldi, Iceland and Sainsbury express 2 mile up the road towards York. Park and ride very good from the Designer Outlet. Very good alround, we will be going back again soon. Our 7 year old son has been in tears several times since we left.

Recommended to us for a one night stay on our way back from Whitby and what a lovely site. The owners were so helpful the site was clean and the showers and toilets were immaculate. There is a small shop in the reception which stocks emergency items but sure they would help if you were to find yourself stuck. Nothing it too much trouble. There is an adults only part of the site and we love the piped music in the loos. Park and ride 2 miles away pub down the road. Will be back

Visited Naburn Lock at the start of May and had an excellent stay. An extremely well run site with very clean toilets and showers. Great open pitches with plenty of grass for playing on. For those wanting to fly a kite, the rally field is perfect if its not in use. The owners have worked hard to create a very special site, well done! Certainly will be visiting again soon.

What a wonderful site, just outside york. The site is run by a very friendly and helpful couple and is kept beautifully. Toilets excellent and pitches on grass but well kept and plenty of room. No children's play park but as it is next to the lock plenty to occupy the children. Adult only area for those who don't like kids.Walking distance to the local pub which serves good food and welcomes children, with garden at rear in good weather. Can walk along the river to pub but not sure if access to village is allowed, it was dark when we had our adventure along the river bank and was a bit unsure of the way at the end but found our way. It is a lot quicker along the road. Good bus service into York at the site entrance or a boat runs during the summer months but only ran once a week during our visit so we were quite disappointed we didn't get the chance to try this although we will visit again as there is plenty to visit in York and the site is very near the MacAurther park retail outlet which is well worth a visit.

This site is a real gem! Stumbled across it whilst touring the area. Very well set out with well designated pitches . The toilet/shower block was exceptional,.very clean, heated and even had piped music! The surrounding area was lovely with access to the nearby lock.a lovely walk if the weather is hot. Easy access to the City of York though a long walk to the nearest bus stop if you don't have transport. Well recomended!

A nice site in a lovely location just a couple of minutes walk to the lock where you can catch the water taxi right into the centre of York. Friendly and helpful owners, toilets clean and warm and the pitches spacious. Pub in village about 15 mins walk away which is ok for a quiet drink but for a seriously good night out hit the town either by water taxi (highly recommended) or by bus which stops at the site gates. The McArthur Glen retail centre is nearby and well worth a visit for discounted designer clothes.

This Caravan Site is a large grassy quite site, it is very clean well kept and the owners are very helpful. There is a shop on site that provides mainly basics and you can also buy papers. The site is next to the River Ouse and a river boat runs into York every day during summer, you have to catch it at 9-30 am, that's okay if you are early risers but if not it's a bit of a rush, it does not come back until 4-30, I think it could be better if it was more frequent, this does not spoil the site one bit though, there is a good bus service to York with a Bus Stop outside the main entrance so getting in and out is not a problem. I will be going back to this site again.
