Having arrived home just an hour ago, . We felt we had to write this review to let people know what a lovely couple Peter & Catherine who own the site are. Nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly, helpful and keep the site in tip top condition.
The plants and flowers make the site look lovely, everything is spotless, and the shop sells enough to keep you going. I knew I would need bread for home last night, they had run out, but, Catherine told me she would get me some for this morning, how thoughtful.
The lock is a hidden gem, the river is very pretty with cruisers, canal boats, and the river boat that takes you into York. M
y hubby loves fishing and had a great four days, catching lots of fish, only £2 per day. What a pleasant change, a lot of sites charge much more. The pitches are very big, enough room for awning, chairs, tables etc.
We had a really lovely break and will be going again in a couple of weeks.

Stayed here 4 nights on June 5th to 8th.
Stayed here to visit York, Harrogate and the RHS.
Very good site, clean and comprehensive facilities with convenient public transport to York if required. Friendly and professional staff.
Bit of a hike to the water tap - but we could have camped closer to it.
Very satisfied with our stay. Our schedule prevented us from staying longer. However, would definitely return given the opportunity. This is what we call our 'KUMBAK' test only about 50% of sites pass this test!

Just come back from a weekend at this well located site.
The camp wardens are a very friendly couple and give you good info about the area eg York, buses, etc.
There is a river boat that takes you into York from the locks just at the back of the site, about £7. 50 each and £4. 50 for kids, great.
About the site, good size pitches and toilets and showers clean and hot water good.
Well stocked shop with news papers, a good pub 10mins walk into naburn which has a dog bar at the rear and a good beer garden which does bbq, and food inside carvery on Sunday.
Will be back at this site again very soon.

We stayed here for one night. The staff were very friendly efficient in taking our late booking.
The tent field we were allocated in was not too busy when we arrived. Also we managed to find a flat pitch at edge of the field. The shower block and toilets were well equipped and the showers lovely and hot.
More importantly than that they were immaculately clean every time we visited and we hadno problem with having to wait for showers.
Onsite is a very well stocked shop; everything you could need. The site is also walking distance to a great Pub where we enjoyed there BBQ evening and had a lovely meal. Great location for visiting York.

We visit this site each year and I have to say it is the most beautiful site I have ever been to. The location is fantastic for us. It is a good few miles out of the centre of York, but each year we cycle in as the site is very close to the cycle track into York centre. You can also go on the same track to Selby. Both rides are fab. The site is in the lovely quaint village of Naburn and it is just lovely. You can walk into the village very easily to go to the local pub for some tea. The amenities on the site itself are great. The little shop is well stocked, the owners are fantastic, the toilet and shower block are always clean and very good. Lovely quality showers always with hot water. The pitches are fantastic, lots of space, and if you need it there is an adults only section. They have a strict no noise after 10pm policy which I think is fab, especially in the summer when children can get a bi rowdy, but we have never ever had any issues. The only constructive criticism I would give is that the site is really quite large, and the sink area does only have 3 sinks for washing up. This can mean that when the site is busy you can be waiting a while to wash up. That would be my only downside. Otherwise I would sing this sites praises all day long!

Just came back from a lovely visit to this site, although weather could have been better.
On arrival we were greeted by Catherine who took payment & went though the site details and presented us with a local guide, then Peter pointed out the electric hook up side of the 'Tent' field.
The 'Tent' field had a few level areas, but most pitches were on a slight slope. To the side of the field is the road leading to the site entrance, although traffic was at a minimum the sound of vehicles during the night was very noticeable.
The facilities at this site were very good, toilets & showers were always clean. On site was a well stocked shop & launderette and on Saturdays a Mobile Chip van turns up for a couple of hours(not bad at all either). No kiddies play area, but plenty of space for them to run around (as long as you keep them away from the adults only pitches).
Site location was great for travelling into York, either by bus(bus stop outside site or Park & Ride 5 mins up the road) or by car(10 - 30 mins, dependant on traffic)
My only negative point is that as a 'Tenter' you are placed well away from the facilities in an open field, unlike some of the 'Hard tops' who have nicely sheltered hedges to protect them from the wind, away from the road and are in some cases nearer to the loo's than I am in my own house.
Saying that, I would still recommend this site to anyone.

A very nice and clean site. Showers and toilets were excellent. There are also electric hook ups, washing up facilities and chemical toilet cleaning facilities. There is an on site shop for the odd bits of shopping and York is not too far away. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The river is not too far away if you like to fish or just for a relaxing walk. The only down side is its a bit of a walk to the village and after dark be careful because there is no street lighting. We will be back when the coarse season starts in June.

A lovely site which caters for everyone having its own adult only area tucked away from the rest of the site, and 2 tent field away from the caravans. Well located for visiting York or simply walking in the countryside. The amenities are good, well stocked shop on site (as usual quite dear) and ample showers and toilets. The only downside to the adult only section is it doesn't have its own shower/toilet block so you do have to join the main site for these amenities. Overall a lovely relaxing site.

This was our 3rd visit to this site - and we'll keep coming back. The site improves each time we visit.
The owners are so helpful and friendly - can't do enough for you.
The pitches are spacious and you never feel over-looked by your neighbours.
We took 3 dogs with us and they enjoyed the site and walks by the lock and down the river Ouse.
The toilet blocks are always clean and tidy, the hot water for the showers is never-ending.
Local tip - visit the White Swan Inn (down Moor Lane and turn left at the end) for a really lovely meal. Home cooking at it's best!
This site is ideal for everyone, there's an 'adults only' section, but you don't need to be in there to have peace and quiet (site is dead quiet from 11pm till 7am)
*** Can not recommend this site enough ***

We visited this site at Easter and it was absolutely fantastic: The facilities were excellent and clean and the managers were extremely friendly.
There are two very large tent fields but the limited number of toilet facilities means that the site is only licensed for about 20 tents - this meant that we were pitched on a huge field with only about seven other tents which was great.
The local pub is only about 20 minutes wallk away (even with the kids) and it serves good food and beer. I can also recommend that you use the park and ride into York which picks up at the shopping outlet nearby and offers a cheap family return ticket.
Furthermore there is a brilliant (free) play area at the shopping centre too. We stayed an extra night so we could catch the river boat from the locks (2 mins away) into York and it was well worth it.
