Just got back from first time at naburn lock, and must say can't fault it. Pitch sizes are very good, plenty of water points. Well stocked shop, pub 10 mins walk down road, looked to be very large food portions but we didn't try any. Got real ale on so another + point. Short drive to York and we went to Bridlington on Sunday, about 40 miles each way.
Think the weather put people off as it was advertised as being fully booked over the bank holiday, but there were vacant pitches while we were there. The site holds a silent at night policy after eleven o clock which is good and it does work. There is a dog walk down to the river and this is a very picturesque place (only five minutes away) What would be really nice if there was a pub at the side of the lock, would go again

This caravan site was in a great location for visiting York and the surrounding area.
The toilets and showers were clean with plenty of hot water at all times. The site was kept clean and tidy with lovely flower displays. Each caravan was given plenty room - good spaces between each pitch.
Instead of taking the bus into York from outside the caravan site (which was pretty expensive and hourly) we took the car to the park n ride a few miles away. Adults were £2.30 return and kids were free and the buses ran every 10 minutes. There is a 24 hour Tesco a few miles away too which was really handy.
The pub in the village looked a little 'tired' but the food was lovely, homemade and tasty. Another place we went to eat was The White Swan in Deighton which was a couple of miles away from the site and advertised in the site brochure, the food was of a very high standard and very reasonably priced.
Would go back to this site and would definitely recommend it.

Have just spent 4 nights at this very nice and clean Caravan Park which is so easy to find, just a short drive from the A64/A19 junction, South of York.
The park is only 150 metres or so from Naburn Lock itself which is very interesting in itself. The Caravan Park is well kept and superbly run by the management and we would certainly consider this one again in the future.
One plus for us was the trans-penine cycle route which is only a mile or so from the Park entrance. This takes you either into York centre in around 5 miles or Selby which is around 8 miles. As we use cycles a lot we found this very pleasant and York in particular is well geared up for the cyclist.
We visited the Blacksmiths Arms which is only a 10 minute walk but thought it lacked a bit of atmosphere,it is probably more used as a restaurant than a pub!(That's only our opinion).
All in all though, a very good site and we can heartily recommend it.

Cannot fault anything about this site!
Arrived mid afternoon (4 night stay)and was given a handful of really useful guides and told where to pitch.
Huge field, level with nicely cut grass. About 30 seconds walk from the scenic canal.
Toilets/ showers immaculate. Plenty of soap and paper towels. Showers have lots of room for changing and hanging clothes. You can use the shop (well stocked) for freeze blocks.
Location wise, couldn't be better! 5 mins drive from Designer Outlet for shopping! 20 mins from York Maze (we spent a whole day there with a picnic-lovely and great value for money)York center-Don't catch the bus unless you have to. Drive to the Outlet and do 'Park&Ride' £2.30 return and my 12yr old went free. Would've been about £7 return by bus!
Lovely area for walking and about 15 mins walk from local pub serving great food.
Like said- couldn't fault anything and I will be returning asap

Our second visit and not disappointed. Large site but doesn't feel it as separated into smaller areas by hedging. We were on adult only area which was a bonus, though this is not ever a noisy site. Dead silence after 11pm a great idea and adhered to. Toilets and showers clean if a little crowded in the morning rush, but hey, have a lie in and shower after breakfast.
Only slight niggle is distances to walk for grey water and toilet emptying. But good exercise I suppose.
Lovely walks along river and canal and Trans pennine cycle way.Great area to tour around and a short drive into York. We went into the wolds, fascinating, visited the small beautifully kept villages and walked along the newly restored Pocklington Canal.
Blacksmiths Arms great, food super, beer good, if a bit pricey, says my John Smiths loving old man.
All in all a super site and we will def. Be back.

We have just returned from this site. It is exceptionally clean and very well cared for by the owners Peter and Catherine. Toilets and showers very clean with local radio station piped in 24hrs. Laundry facilities but cannot comment as we didn't need to use. We stayed on the tent field but did not have EHU. There is EHU if needed. The tent field has the view of the lock (the caravan part doesn't). The EHU pitches are at the top of the field but near to the road where there is some traffic noise but not significantly so. It only seemed to be during the 'rush hours', not constant. The non EHU pitches are at the bottom of the field with only slight traffic noise occasionally. Be aware that the tent field does slope from top to bottom, enough for our bedding and us to have slipped down the bed by morning! It did rain during our stay but even at the bottom of the field there was no water anywhere.
Naburn is lovely, with easy access to walks along the river. We went to York on the Park and Ride from the Designer Outlet (worth a visit),it cost £2.30 return per adult, children free. We drove to Scarborough and Filey. It's about 40 miles away and took an hour to get there. Parking is expensive in both resorts though, average £3 for two hours. Excellent site for facilities, cleanliness and location and will definitely return and recommend.

Visited this site for the 2nd time, the last time was with our old van and no children 11 years ago. This time bigger van and 2 children in tow. We were on our way home from holidaying in Holland and stopped off here for 3 nights. Good size pitch and the toilets shop etc great. Very friendly. Took the boat to York on the Sunday which was lovely. Spent the whole day at the railway musemn which was free entry and very interesting, then took boat home. Next day took the bus from right outside the site which was great, and had a wander around the city. Then bus back. The only thing missing was a place for the kids to play. A small park would have been good.

Stayed two nights, Fri and Sat. Pitch we were on was near hedge which separated field from main road.Traffic was regular throughout the night and quite noisy. Also as others have said ground is a little uneven which can make for some interesting times walking around the tent.
All in all though site very well run and very clean.
Strict noise policy between 11.00pm and 07:00am which gets my thumbs up.
Blacksmith Arms pub is 10 mins walk and serves food until 8.30pm.Be advised to book for Sat. Night as we didn't and managed to get a table outside, if weather was lousy we would have been out of luck.

Excellent site what else can I say,the owners can't help you enough, this was our first taste of caravaning and what a site to choose, we agree with everyone else who has reviewed this site. The pub only 10min walk away, the chippy a 5min drive away, the on site shop was very good, very clean showers and toilets.
It was a very relaxing weekend, you felt miles from anywhere but everything you needed was close.
We have been here several times now and this is the best site ever, Anyone who wants to go camping, tent, caravan, motorhome must try this place. 10 out of 10 all round.

First visit to this site on friends recommendation both the site and staff are first class plenty of room and nothing is any trouble from taking in a delivery of a missing Cadac item for a family BBQ to assistance in reversing our caravan onto our pitch.
Toilets and showers very clean and location second to none will be visiting again as the whole experience was a pleasure.
