Visited this site for 10 days end of June when it was rather wet, to say the least. It's a lovely site, very well looked after, and the grass had been cut recently. We were given a choice of two hard-standings due to the weather, having booked to go on grass. We arrived on a Thursday and had a storm after we pitched, and it continued to rain on the Friday. By Sunday the tent field between us and the river had totally flooded and there were concerns about our pitch, so Catherine arranged for us to move to a higher pitch.
We were given one in the adult only section which is a lovely area - 4 pitches to a hedged-in area, a bit like sites in France. Peter & Catherine helped us pack up and move, which was really nice of them. The weather cheered up a bit then and the water levels dropped quickly and the site was back to normal within three days.
The shop is well stocked and the loos and showers spotless. Yes, there are a few signs up but as some people can be very thoughtless, it reminds people to behave and look after the site that has had a lot of work put into it. We visited York three times, twice by bus, Beverly races, Harrogate and Bridlington, as well as spending time with friends who live in the area.
The pub in Naburn (Blacksmiths Arms) does nice food and caters for walkers, bikers, and dogs, and even has it's own 'Dog Bar' outside with water bowls and a large biscuit tin (donations to Dogs Trust), but about 15 mins drive away in Biggin is another Blacksmiths Arms which does absolutely fab food - a bit of a gastro place - where we went for our anniversary.
There is also a fantastic Thai a few miles away. A bit of a bonus is that there is a dog kennels about a mile away from the site (Snowlandia) that does a doggy day creche (£18 from 07. 30 to 18. 30) which allowed us to go racing one day and visit the Jorvik Centre (great place)and the Sweet Story (overpriced) another day.
We wouldn't hesitate to use this site again if in the area.

Tagged two nights onto the end of a 5 night stay elsewhere - only stayed for one in the end but that wasn't any detriment to the camp site at all it was the weather in the end that made us decide to leave early.
We had a lovely friendly welcome after booking at the last minute the day before and were shown to a choice of pitches in the ' adult only ' area of the site. The area was enclosed by mature trees and in total six caravans / motorhomes could have pitched in the enclosure, although there were only five during our stay the allocated space was roomy and open and more peaceful than some others we have stayed at. There was some road noise from the road running through the village but it was minimal compared to sites that are beside the A64.
The site is well placed for transport into York by bus or the Park & Ride at The Designer Outlet Centre. Naburn Lock looked lovely and you can pick up a water taxi into York from there at the weekend, I should imagine its a nice thing to do (if you get the weather!)
The toilet facilities were perfectly adequate, nothing special just a toilet block with showers, kept nice and clean with piped music!
A good little site shop and fish and chip van which visited on Friday night, very popular (big queue) we bought calor gas there too, all in all a great site reasonably priced would definitely return

Well unfortunately it was our first visit this year due to the Great British Weather!
What a fabulous site this is and is a credit to the owners Peter and Catherine who do a fantastic job and are very friendly people. Good price also at £19 per night with £1. 75 for our porch awning and FREE showers!.
We had a problem with our car not starting one morning and Peter dropped everything to come and help get us sorted so a big thank you to him.
To address previous reviewers moaning about too many rules and the grass not being cut, lets face it if you don't have 'rules' you would not get such an excellent run site, bearing in mind rules and regulations keeps out the ragamuffins! which we have seen and heard quite a few at various other sites! especially those sites that are a little 'lapse' on the 'rules'. You also have to be a little bit flexible in our climate with grass cutting etc as it has been almost continual rain since March! I wonder how the previous reviewer managed to get his grass cut at home as we have struggled!
Yes, admittedly if your up on the 'adult only' section of the park at peak times of the day you do hear a bit of road noise (that didn't really bother us) but, through the day you can also hear the clippety clop of horses going passed which is also very nice to hear, and really there are so many more good points to this site than bad!
Their little shop at reception is very well stocked and very reasonably priced, they sell mini packets such as Tea, sugar, coffee etc which saves you buying larger items when your only there for a few days, it is an excellent idea especially as I had remembered to pack the Gin, wine and lager etc but forgot to pack those previously mentioned essentials! I also purchased a deodorant there before coming home as it was cheaper than at our local tesco!
The local pub has wifi and does fantastic bar meals, try out their ploughmans platter its fab and the Fish and chips were huge! and just under £10 each!
We had a lucky week with the weather and were so pleased that we chose this site with its close proximity to all the areas different attractions. We cannot wait to return.

We have been staying at this campsite for over 10 years and have seen the site develop and improve over the years under the friendly and helpful owners.
We think this is an excellent quiet well kept site with hedges and grass neatly kept. Over the Jubilee Bank Holiday the grass had been left a bit longer to make driving across it easier, not causing wheel spinning and making ruts in the field. We have found this to be normal on various campsites following wet conditions.
The toilet block is spotless, there is a well stocked shop and lots of walks from the site. One to the local pub down the road, which allows dogs.
The site is out in the country in a brilliant location yet so convenient for the City, whether travelling by car, bus, river boat or bike. (the site is close to the York/Selby cycle route.
Keep up the good work, you both do a great job.

Stayed here for 3 night break recently. Nice welcome and shown to our pitch. The pitch was in the adults only area of the site, it was grass which didn't bother us, but the length of the grass did! We would have been as well pitched in a field. I realise that over the previous weeks there had been rain but the grass hadn't been cut for a long time! For £25 per night we thought it expensive, even for jubilee weekend.
The toilet block was clean but just messy with the grass etc.
Lots of signs up with rules and regulations.
Nice walk down to the canal. The river taxi into York is well worth using, takes about 50 minutes.
Had fish and chips from the van which visits the site, absolutely delicious!
Visited the pub in the village, about a 15/20 minute walk along the grass verge of a busy road. Carvery looked very tasty but bar staff rude and abrupt so didn't stay.
Loved York and surrounding area and will visit there again but stay at another site.

A great family-run site. They couldn't do enough for us.
When we arrived for a two night stopover in our motor-home, we were told that because of the rain (there had been lots the day before), there was a flood warning and we were therefore pointed into a grass field high up above the proposed waterline. More rain in the night. And when we woke up, the Ouse had changed from a river about 50 yards wide, to a lake the size of Lake Geneva, and lapping up to the toilet block, leaving dozens of (thankfully empty) hard standings under feet of water!
But we saw enough above water to see that this is a very well - run and pretty site, incredibly convenient for York, as the bus stops at the site gate. We went off into York both days and had a great time. No hesitation in going back to Naburn on a less moist weekend!

Tidy and clean, quiet but for the road noise, nice walk to river, to watch it flood!
Close to York. Visited nearest pub in next village, which was expensive. We had to pack up or move because pitch was in danger of flooding.
Too many rules. You will obey.
Facilities were good, music was a little different in toilets?
Get a map of surrounding area or you may miss things. Go to see Eden Camp at Malton.
Doubt we will return. Would not want to be there when full / high season. We liked the chickens.

What a gem of a site!.
We only stayed one night but could not be made more welcome.
We had a pitch by the huge dog walking field which was idea for our Greyhound 'Sox'.
Showers were lovely and warm and I likes the music too.
Shop sells almost everything except booze, so stock up before you arrive.
We took the bus into York, very handy and will save a fortune on parking, the river boat sadly was not running due to the very high state of the river after all the rain.
Do take the lovely circular walk via the lock, its beautiful.
Special mention for the pub in the village, The Blacksmiths Arms. Never before have I found a pbn that has a bar just for dogs and even complimentary dog biscuits.
The menu looks superb, the spam fritters looked stunning.
We tried their breakfast served 9 till 10 on Saturdays and Sundays. It was fantastic and all for just £3.99
All in all a fab site and we hope to return with the kids next bank holiday.

Our 3rd visit to this site and still excellent. On arrival was given a choice of pitches, found a good one and had a very enjoyable 3 night stay. Lovely walks along the river and although we didn't use it this time can recommend the pub in Naburn for good quality food at reasonable prices. Once again found the facilities good and kept clean at all times. The shop has all the basics you could need and some lovely gift ideas. The owners Peter & Catherine go out of their way to be helpful, on arrival you are given a handful of leaflets with lots of local details about York and the surrounding area. All in all a great site and we will return.

Used this site many years ago in our previous 'caravan life' and it was wonderful to be back.
Excellent facilities, friendly and helpful owners and so easy to get to and from York with the bus stop just outside the site.
Did struggle a bit to get the caravan level on the first site we tried so moved to another one which was not a problem.
We did have problems with the TV reception but will be looking into how to address that issue in the future.
Will definitely recommend this site and visit again hopefully with not so many years gap!
