Just returned from a week away at Naburn lock park, this was only the second site we've ever used as we are newbies to the camping scene but that aside we cant recommend this site enough! It feels like you are miles away from anywhere once on site although you are literally only 15 minutes away from York city centre by car, plus a 2 minute walk from the locks which is a breath taking stretch of the river, the site is extremely well kept, plenty of pitches and shower/ laundry block is excellent plenty of piping hot showers and shop is well stocked with anything you might run out of. In short DO NOT HESITATE to book this site, I think this will be the first of many visits to Naburn.

What a great site, lovely location and really pleasant owners! You wouldn't believe you are only minutes away from a bustling city. We used the park and ride facility at the nearby Outlet village, no hassle and lots cheaper than paying for car-parks in the city. Great surroundings and some nice walks, watched the boats going through the locks for ages! The village pub is a pleasant retreat. Just wish the site was a bit nearer to us, but would definitely recommend it and would stay again if travelling that way.

What a great site, we were really pleased after spending a rather rougher 2 nights near Hornsea to have the luxury of piping hot showers, clean toilets and an all round clean site.
It's a little more expensive (by about £3.00 per night) than other sites we've been to, but you can see where the extra money has gone. The staff were very helpful and friendly and so were the other campers.
It's a family friendly site, so the 11 o'clock "dead silence" rule didn't really affect us (and it's not that strict.but no radio's and loud noises after this time, which we quite liked!) - and there is an adults only field.
we quite liked the fact that things we're quiet at 11.our 1 yr old and 5 yr old were in bed then anyway, and me and the wife could just sit and chill!.lovely
everything was great here.I'd heartily recommend to anyone.nice and peaceful and well run, excellent!

Fantastic site!, well placed to centre of York but still quiet and peaceful!. Showers and toilets always clean and nice to have a bit of music in there. The owners were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive, giving us lots of info about the local area.

My family and I have just returned from a three night stay in Naburn Caravan and camping park. We travelled there from Scotland on one of the hottest days and was very relieved to get to the site with no major problems. The site is very welcoming and the owners themselves make you feel at home. The toilets and showers are kept very clean and tidy and the addition of piped music was very nice. The pitches are well spaced out, We had plenty of room on a good level pitch and well mowed grass. I liked the idea of the site being quite from 11pm and also with its adults only area. The kids could enjoy playing around without annoying anyone. We will definitely be visiting this site again and will tell our friends about it,

I would just like people to know that Peter and Catherine are two of the nicest people, we arrived for a 2 week holiday and got the most amazing shock at how nice and clean the site was, the toilets are cleaned twice a day, which is more than some other sites we have used. The camp has a strict silence policy after 11 pm and as the mum of 2 small boys this was greatly appreciated, as they were not kept awake all night with people partying. The site is only 4 miles from York and has a regular bus service right outside the gates, again Catharine and Peter were more than happy to help you with any questions about local activities. Although they must have been very busy running the site they allways had time to stop for a chat and made you feel so welcome and at home. We were reluctant to leave and come back to Scotland but will make sure we visit again and again. Thanks to you both for helping make our holiday special. From Washing machine Lady.

This campsite is by far the best one we have been to yet and we will definitely be returning. Everything is so well kept, the toilets and showers are immaculate and the reception area which greets you when you arrive is colorful and welcoming. The toilets have music piped into them which is novel but a plus for me! We arrived on the hottest weekend of the year so far so that helped make an already enjoyable stay even better!A trip to york on the bus was only 15 minutes and when we got back a stroll to the local pub only took 15 mins and that was with a slowcoach 4 year old with us!I have a few friends who are seasoned campers and I will definitely be recommending this site to all of them.

I would agree with other reviews that this is a very nice , well kept clean campsite. Toilets and showers very good. Pub 5 /10 minutes away . We arrived one Saturday for a night and had plenty of room but feel I should mention 1 or 2 things. The campsite had a strict dead silence after 11pm rule. Some may appreciate this but my wife and I thought this was a little too early and strict. By 11.05 the campsite was almost in darkness. We drank and whispered in the tent like 2 naughty children up after bedtime.
There was a bit of a pong sometimes near our pitch , possibly as we were camped next to a little beck. ( a sewage works a few miles away was also suspect ) anyhow the smell was not too bad and didn't spoil our stay. Overall a great site for those that like peace and quiet .

This site is everything people have said and more, the owners will do anything for you, they even looked after a friends two dog's while she had a couple of hours in York. We are fairly new to camping but this is the best site I have visited and we are already planning our next trip. Also must mention Bridlington's south beach which went on for miles and the dogs had a fantastic time, the fish and chips were great too.

A very good site with very clean facilities. We arrived on a Friday evening and one of the site owners showed us to our pitch which is very helpful. The site owners are very friendly and are very knowledgeable about the local area. There is a Toilet / Shower block which was always clean and tidy. The waste disposal point was well thought out and there was even a dog shower! There is a shop on site and a pub just down the road. There are many places to visit whilst staying here including the city of York which is very close - would advise using the many park and rides as parking in York is quite expensive and there are not many car parks which 4x4 vehicles and people carriers can get into due to height barriers. The one car park that I found which didn't have a height barrier was very tight to manuvere anything bigger than a Mini. There is also the North York moors in easy reach of the park plus there is a aviation museum close by. There are many retail parks in and around York for the shopaholics amongst us! There is also a 'River Taxi' which leaves from the lock which is right next to the park and goes into the centre of York. When driving to the park from the A64 end be aware that there is a sewage works about a mile from the park which pongs a bit! but i'm happy to say that you cannot smell it at all around the site. I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a base for touring round North Yorkshire.
