Visited this lovely site May Day weekend. Toilet and shower facilities really good, clean and tidy.

We were in the adults section at the top of the site and this was 4 caravans in a tree terraced field. Very quiet and private.

The site shop sells papers, milk and camping essentials, Lovely pub down the road, approx 10 minutes walk, excellent food and real ales, not much else there though. Cycle track to York or Selby.

Will definitely be going back

Stayed here one night whilst on our way back home, a nice site with a separate adults only area, good free showers and toilets which look like they have been refurbished, but nothing for children. Great for walks by the river Ouse, actually saw a seal sun bathing on the banks. There is a pub in the village, Blacksmiths which we did visit but found quite expensive for food, drinks not badly priced compared to others but watch out if you want glass of Coke for a child, a whopping £1.69 for a half pint making it more expensive than fuel. Speaking to the landlady she said the brewery set the prices

If you are looking for a site close to York 4 miles, or the designer outlet in a lovely part of Yorkshire we recommend this site.

We’ve just returned from two fantastic nights at Naburn Lock. A lot has already been said about how good this site is and it’s all pretty much spot-on. The folks running the site are great and the facilities are top-notch.

The location is excellent, right next to the river, near enough to the village to walk and a stone’s-throw from York (the Park-and-Ride from McArthur - Glen was cheap as chips and took all the stress out of getting into town). We’ve already booked a return visit, can’t wait to go back!

This site is a Pearl! Located in a beautiful location, fantastic site facilities and great and friendly hosts Peter and Catherine, there is a good bus service just outside the main entrance with direct services into the centre of York or should you wish go in the opposite direction you can visit the market town of Selby, a short distance just down the road from Naburn Lock is the McArthur Glen Designer shopping retail Park (nice one for the Ladies etc)sorry about this one Lads!

Also just a short walk down from the Caravan site in Naburn Village is a really good Local Pub, it does very good food and ale etc.

The Site shop has many leaflets for the numerous Local attractions etc.

Also one of the best attractions that we always use when we are on site with our grandchildren is the 'River Bus' which at 9.30am on a Saturday / Sunday morning takes you on a lovely river ride for approx an 1hrs ride from the Lock at the bottom of the Caravan site into the centre of York, you can get a return ticket or a single and just get the bus back from York to the Caravan site later on the afternoon. Well worth the trip.

We stayed the weekend of the 11th to the 13th september 2009 our first ever go at caravaning, and found this site to be very easy to find just off the a19,the pitches we found to be plentiful. A five minutes walk to the locks with great views, a nice walk, a key coded barrier for security good wash and shower rooms and laundry room and on site shop.

A good pub down the road called the blacksmiths arms good food BUT you must take a torch as there is no street lighting on a night we found this to be unsafe as the paths are also not the full way to and from the village. Will vist this site again only cost £29.00 for full weekend 2 adults and one child under 1 with no awning.

Just returned home after our fourth visit to this wonderful site. Granted at the time of our visit the school holidays were coming to an end so we were not overrun with children, albeit the site has an area set aside for Adults only, for those wishing for some peace and quiet. This site has lots to offer, as well as the main field with all the amenities there are two other fields, used mainly by Tenters and those caravanners wishing to 'rough' it.

The Husband and wife team that own and run the site are the most delightful and hardworking couple you could ever wish to meet, the results of their endeavors are only to clear to see by the well tended flower baskets, flower beds and mowed grass all around the site. A very short walk away from the site is the River Ouse, the lock gates and all that occurs on the river, a waterbus also calls at the Naburn landings for trips into York city on a weekend. Also the park is lucky enough to have a bus stop sited right outside its entrance where a regular bus service conveys campers into the nearby Retail outlet Centre or further, into York City Centre. If a downside was to be mentioned I think it would be the spotlessly clean toilet block, it sometimes necessitates a wait on a busy weekend. We shall certainly be returning as and when time permits.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst touring.

The pitches were very generous - leaving plenty of space for outside dining, and for children to play (there is no play equipment on site).

The shop was open for 3 hours in the morning and afternoon, closing at 6.30pm. Leaving time for the owners to clean the toilet block etc. The shop stocked a few basic food and camping products - but mainly stocking kiddies toys.

We went on the river boat from the lock (5 min walk down a track from the site) into York (£20 for 2 adults and one child). This was very enjoyable - and no parking hassles. We visited the National Railway museum, which was excellent and best of all, free!

The showers and loos were a bit dated, but were clean. The owners were friendly and helpful.

It is best to approach the site from the north. We came in from the south - via a country route, through a village, across a very long narrow bridge. Not for the faint hearted!

We would definitely return to this site if in the area in the future.

Have just returned after spending 10 days at this fabulous site. We expected it to be very busy being the main holiday season but the owners do an excellent job of making sure there are always free pitches. This also meant that there was never a queue for the showers etc and we all know how comforting that is, don't we ladies? We were able to choose our pitch from the ones available and ours was more than adequate having lots of space between us and the neighbours. We were on hardstanding with EHU.

The owners were very welcoming on our arrival and gave us plenty of information about surrounding attractions and bus times etc. The site shop was well stocked even though it only opened for a few hours each day but there is also an outdoor shopping complex about 15 mins drive away with all the well know supermarkets (Asda is open 24 hrs) and large stores. Our boys (Aged 15 and 12) also loved 'Water world' which is on the same complex with water slides, rapids and waves. At £14 for a family of 4 it was great value and we visited a couple of times during our stay.

The site itself is immaculate and toilets and showers were always kept clean. There is a small covered outdoor washing up area with 3 sinks, and a laundry room. The dog walks from the site were fantastic and our retired greyhound, Molly, loved chasing the rabbits through the open fields during her evening walks (Not catching any, I might add, hence the retirement!) The pub in the village is only 10 mins walk from the site which we visited on 2 occasions. They do a BBQ on Sunday evening where you choose your steak, which is cooked fresh while you wait, then you help yourself to the indoor buffet which consists of chips and salads etc. They do stop cooking at 8pm though but this was fine for us as we like to eat early.

Our boys took their bikes with them as there wasn't the usual attractions on site such as swimming pool and playground but they didn't seem to miss them at all. They were happy to explore the site and surrounding area and we never had any complaints from other campers about them being a nuisance which can sometimes be a problem.

It is a very peaceful site with no noise after 11pm and before 7am but as we enjoy the peace and quiet it was a very welcome rule. As you lie in bed at night the only noise you can hear is the owls hooting, PERFECT! One reviewer mentioned the owners patrolling the site but we never saw any evidence of this.

One day we parked on the designer outlet and bused it into York (£4.60 for family of 4 return)We had a free guided tour of the Minster (after paying quite reasonable rates to get in) and entry into the Railway Museum which is also free. We were atleast 40 miles away from the seaside so we devoted 1 day out to Goathland (Heartbeat country) and Whitby where we had some yummy fish and chips!

There is loads to do in the area, and as we didn't manage to fit in everything we would have liked, we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Just returned from our visit to York, and picked this site due to its location and having a bus stop outside etc.

Lovely site, was escorted into the area where they wanted us to pitch and give a choice of pitches. Good sized pitches.

Usual facilities, washing up area, recycling points, laundrette if needed.

Well kept area.

When we were there it was relatively quiet, even though there was quite a lot of units.

There was nothing there for kids to do though, other than entertain themselves! was given information about York when we booked in.

Would return, and would recommend

Our first trip here the reception area had the most gorgeous flower baskets and the grounds and border areas were immaculate. Catherine greeted us in reception and we were given plenty of information including bus times as the bus stops outside the site on both sides of the street giving you the option to go to York or Selby. Entrance to the camping field was via a security barrier and we were met with a lovely big green field with plenty of hook ups which we don't use. The weather was scorching and once the tent was up off I went on my inspection off the ladies shower block which housed four showers with free hot water, you have to keep pressing the button as it is timed, washroom, plenty toilets and sinks which were immaculate. Bring you hairdryer there are two plug sockets. Laundry room, outside washing up sinks all spotless so I was very impressed. The riverboat sails Saturdays and Sundays which takes you into York and back which we loved. The site is next to the locks and the river Ouse and is so pretty. Caravans and campers vans have plenty of space and there is an adult section too. I have to point out there is not a play area for children and there are restriction but with a large field to play on this did not seem to be an issue with the families on our field. Overall this site is immaculate where the owners clearly work hard to a high standard so full marks to them and we will be back.
